University of Utah Singers performs J'entends le Moulin arr. by Donald Patriquin live in concert, Libby Gardner Concert Hall June, 2007 under the direction of Dr. Brady Allred.
This song is no joke...it's so difficult yet so fun at the same time..
I am French Canadian, and I am very, very impressed by the pronunciation!!! I would think coming from Utah you wouldn't have much of a French background, so I say Bravo!!!!
This Patriquin arrangement is notorious for its difficult piano part. The pianist's name absolutely should have been mentioned in the information box.
I murdered my voice singing this in choir
This accompanist is an extraordinary pianist. An athlete and artist.
tumbs up if ur singin this in ur chior
Pardon my french, but that was damn impressive.
The only flaw is that when you speak French, you don't hear a very strong "t", it's typically more of a lazy "t", almost a "d". Throughout the song you can hear VERY strong "t"'s.
Our choir only does songs that University of Utah does, so we're doing this song this semester. Only we kinda suck. Which is sad because it's a wonderful song.
i sang this song last year in 11th grade and tbh it was so hard to learn but i felt even worse for the pianist lol... you have to be hella talented to play the piano to that song. i thought it was fun at first because our director would see how fast we could sing it but it got old after rehearsing it so much and i got bored. this song gives me ptsd
Man. This song. Takes me back to senior year when we sung it for UIL and it was everyone's favorite. We were the only choir in the district who could sing it.
BRAVA also the pianist!!!BEAUTIFUL!!! Very good!
"This is easy."
The altos are so quiet. It’s hard being an alto because one we have hard notes in this song but also because altos are extremely hard to bear in recordings
I'm doing this song with my college choir! SO AWESOME! It's definitely my favorite of our pieces!
Lyrics:
"I can hear the mill wheel.
My father is having a house built
It is being built with three gables.
Three carpenters are building it,
The youngest is my darling.
What is that in your apron?
It is a pie made of three pigeons.
Let us sit down and eat it.
When sitting they all lept up
causing the sea and the fish to tremble,
and the stones on the bottom of the sea."
We sang this today at UIL and got a sweepstakes. It was so good and I am beyond proud of how far we have come this year. Good luck to everyone who sings this in the future, it's not easy but worth it.
I miss singing this song. In my four years of choir this piece was definitely my favorite we'd ever done. :) It's just so beautiful!
i like the harmony.. .
My choir teacher is in this recording!
I’m singing this song in my choir. In middle school! It’s sooooo hard! I already speak French so it’s not as hard for me. I sing alto.
