The nine primary lies are antithetical to the nine attributes of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23): Lust: emptiness in the name of fulfillment Gluttony: dissatisfaction in the name of satisfaction Fear: turmoil in the name of control Greed: scarcity in the name of abundance Envy: bitterness in the name of fairness Deceit: loneliness in the name of acceptance Vanity: incompetence in the name of superiority Wrath: destruction in the name of justice Sloth: difficulty in the name of ease each one of these lies delivers exactly the opposite of what it promises. Do you feel empty, dissatisfied, out of control, with never enough time or money, unfairly treated, lonely, but still better than other people, justified in judging others, with problems that have become unmanageable because they've been avoided? All that garbage can be traded for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control - by the grace of God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ - which "is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes."
