Your videos helped me to understand the basics of pharmacology, they are short, but informative and as a visual learner I could easily remember them. Just wanted to say thank you, I really appreciate the effort in the videos, you really made me interested in pharmacology and I'm so eager to learn more from you. The world needs more teachers and lecturers like you, keep up with the good work!

I did some research and found out that NEPRILYSIN INHIBITORS are helpful. It is more efficient in destroying Beta Amyloid proteins and preventing plaque formation. However this is still not fully approved for clinical treatments. Would like to know your thoughts...
NEP inhibitors might increase the risk of AD by the inhibition of Aβ clearance, and increase brain bradykinin (BK) and natriuretic peptides (NPs), which augment the pathogenesis of AD.
Hi sir , your way of simple explanation is superb , like u r covering almost every topic pharmacology within minutes it is very hepful to all medical students ❤
This is such a great video. I only knew about the Tau and Beta Amyloid hypotheses. There now is a monoclonal antibody that works to target Beta-amyloid plaques and help clear them. Although it does a great job clearing the plaques, it only slows progression of Alzheimers, and does nothing to reverse the problems associated with cognitive decline. Lecanemab has had successful trials AND been approved by the FDA for treatment to slow the progression of EARLY Alzheimers. It has not been tested on later stage alzheimer's patients.
If you enjoyed this video, you may also want to know that there's been recent research that uses a functional medicine approach to find possible root causes of Alzheimer's Disease!
You forgot the hypothesis of Insulin Resistance of the Brain preventing glucose uptake by the neurons. Given that ketone supplementation improves cognitive function in Alzheimer's patients it seems this one is the correct hypothesis.
Hello! Can someone tell, how does a regular daily consumer identify and distinguish a pharmaceutical grade drug in the market? Any signs, symbols or labels we can look for? There are so many bad quality, impure over the counter drugs sold. So we have to know.
honestly these are all prescription drugs, your MD/physician should be prescribing them to you and then your pharmacist will prepare and deliver them, there should be no market involved. any licensed pharmacist could help with this.
thank you so much for making this! I am in NP school and textbooks don't make sense to me. I have passed my exams thanks to your other videos. I hope to pass this upcoming one well too! Thank you!
Is this only for people with Alzheimer’s? It seems like this has benefits to increase and improve healthy young people’s mental capabilities as well? Out of all the side effects mentioned that were worrying to me the worst was insomnia and the effect of these drugs are temporary! Could students use these drugs to study? As in low dosage and responsible use?
Hi, I'm Poeuso from Cambodia.could I ask you a question which not involve the content ? between alfacalcidol and calcitriol for patient had total remove thyroid and parathyroid which one is better ?
If you liked this video, you may also be interested to know about possible root causes behind Alzheimer's! For this, look at the work of Dr. Dale Bredesen at Duke University! He looks at possible causes like: pathogens/gut infections, intestinal permeability of the gut (leaky gut), microbiome imbalances, insulin resistance, nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, and toxin exposures!
thats fantastic, anything we can do to ease the burden on our bodies will ultimately be reflected in out body. The best thing we can do for our body is to be active. 15 minutes of walking a day can actually be life saving for your heart and your brain.
Does it work for you? please tell me... I'm taking 5mg for mild brain shrinking..? I don't have serious mental pbs,but I'm very afraid for the progress of this illness,.. please tell... thanks ❤
Yes definitely it causes constipation, and somnolence according to medscape. Its mechanism is obvious for somnolence because it inhibits NMDA receptors so cell becomes hyperpolazed.
If you're interested in this video, you may also be interested to know that gut health can certainly play a role in Alzheimer's! Functional medicine is an amazing tool to reverse Alzheimer's. It involves looking at the root cause(s) behind illness, and healing the gut is a part of that!

The Chandigarh Ayurved Centre provides various herbs that generally act on memory & treat all the symptoms related to Alzheimer’s patients. A kit named “Alzheimer’s Go Kit” is introduced specially for Alzheimer’s patients. This kit comprises five products Brahmi vati, Brodley syrup, Nerve Up Tablet, Tagaradi churna, & Brain Relaxant churna.
*Drugs for Alzheimer's disease* primarily focus on managing symptoms and slowing progression. *Cholinesterase inhibitors* (donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine) boost communication between nerve cells, while memantine, an *NMDA receptor antagonist* , helps regulate glutamate activity. *Newer treatments* , like _monoclonal antibodies_ , target amyloid plaques to slow cognitive decline.

Question?
Could a stroke lead to Alzheimer's?
A stroke does not directly lead to Alzheimer's but stroke-related brain damage and inflammation may contribute to cognitive decline
