    I know you needed the length and leverage, but do not abuse your torque wrench by using it to remove nuts, bolts, etc. Installation only!

    Good job, I am a Honda fan. Own 2009 Civic, 2011 CR-V and 2018 CR-V

      Love my 07 Crv. 149,000 mi and still purzzzz. Thinking about the Honda RTL. Used that is. I have a camp trailer to pull. Wish the crv had a 6 cylinder.

    I’m thinking about doing mine. Red that factory spec can snap the valve at the threads. 20 sounds better. Just hope the factory torque doesn’t cause it to snap coming out.

      When I do mine, I'll definitely soak with penetrating oil for a couple of days before removing being careful not to get any on the alternator (gen 4 crv)

    I agree, 29 fp. Was a little bit too much. Just a snug fit will do.

    what are the symptoms for needing to replace the PCV valve ~ is it only oil loss? ~ I put in 1 quart last week and this week changed out my oil with only 3.5 quarts coming out ~ also Oreiley code came up as P1009 which indicates it may be the VTC ~ any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated. My symptoms are oil loss with no signs, no drips no smoke ~ hard acceleration on hills and engine wrench light has come on ~ last week it was the engine light and I put the quart of oil in, that light went off and then the wrench light came on and I keep losing oil somewhere. 2008 HOnda CRV

      Hi. I have the same issue on my 07 crv. Strange how it looses oil somewhere besides the ground. Lol. They have a crv forum which answers questions. Might check that out. Forgot name but google it. Think I’ll ask that question too. Or google it and see what comes up. Bought the PCV valve. See what happens. Im a woman and I do most everything to my crv. I like to know exactly what’s going on. Lol. Oh, and watch Scotty Kilmer on UA-cam. Retired mechanic of 40 years and he post tons of how to videos. Thanks to him I can do my own work on the cars. Love Scotty. Helps people out!

      @@spiritseeker1932 I changed out my VTC valve, cost approx $700 for a mechanic to do it. I had 4 knowledgeable and strong men who helped me tear my car apart to change it out ourselves and we got stuck, unable to get a tool and hand, even my small hand, in place to remove the part - I went from 18 mpg to 23 mpg and oil was still fresh at 6,000 miles, I usually changed at 10,000

    I would go 16 ft lbs. If it leaks or if it loosens, go a LITTLE more.... CAREFULLY. If you read the reviews on amazon for genuine PVC valves for Gen 3 & 4 CRVs, many are snapping them in half using WELL under the recommended torque. Oil, sludge or anti-size on the threads makes the torque on the wrench show a lot lower than the actual torque... dangerous. Not to mention it's a hollow part and susceptible to breaking even if your threads are cleaned dry.

    I have 2010 model CRV, I think with the same engine. But it has a plastic valve there. There's a metal fixture with a plastic valve that simply pulls out by hand.
    My engine is blowing air out of the dipstick tube or filler cap when running. I tried to clean the plastic valve but it's still blowing air.

    Why did you change the PCV valve?

    • @waiatm
      @waiatm 3 роки тому +4

      I think it is a good idea to do every 50-75,000 miles as a preventative maintenance (maybe whenever you change your spark plugs). a clogged pcv valve that is not functioning properly can go undiagnosed and can lead to poor performance, cause oil leaks, and oil consumption. Cheap and easy to do.
