This was really helpful and cleared up a little confusion from watching other videos. I’ve struggled to feel comfortable with the Ollie and this has held up my progression. I’m looking forward to practicing and progressing next year.
Not a bad idea thnkfrsh! For now, go the same length, not different lengths, and make sure you're communicating about who's doing what and where you're going.
Hey Shawn, good video, helped me for sure. One of the issues I've had this year is using my non dominate foot to ollie for variations, so for me that would be left footed (right towards boat, left in the rear). I can push decently but can't quite get the air vs dominate foot, I can ollie, ollie 180 etc on right foot, can't on left. Had you ever ran into that?
I try to keep it pretty simple in the rider's head by explaining that it's a one footed hop off the back foot. BUT it's all about feeling the tail as an extension of your body and not thinking about pushing on one foot or the other.
Hello! Massive respect for what you are doing with all of this tutorials! Would you mind if i'll make translations of some of your videos into russian?
Great Videos!!!! We have a place on a small lake and it gets very busy on the weekends so its get very rough do you have any suggestions on things that can be done as we just end up surfing when it rough
Take fins off, go slow, 10ish for kids, 12-13ish for bigger adults and stay between the wakes where the boat plows and gives you a smoother area to work on spinning around. Can learn do surface 180s, 3s, learn to handle pass, ride blind a little, switch stuff, inside out jumps. That’s when you jump from behind to boat to outside the wakes.
Hey buddy! My dad was the silver skurfer. Rode with Ken Bernard. First generation of hyperlite wakeboarding with HO sports. I would really appreciate if you would show people what wakeboard slalom was. My dad did it in the 1994 worlds. It would be amazing. I have a bunch of old wakeboards from the 90's if you need one!!!
Would love to see some ol school myself! I did a video of that a while back, me just seeing if I could get through the course on my wakeboard ua-cam.com/video/BIFkdQpYdDk/v-deo.html
No different riding w the other foot forward but good question. Watch it in a mirror if you’re a visual learner. Maybe I should put that at the end of my vids so goofy riders (right footers) can see what it looks like. 🤔
I’m 54 and was on a 20 year water skiing hiatus. I love this channel!! Anyhow I have 2 questions. I’m 6’7” 220lbs. I’m currently riding a HL144 (I think) lol I’m looking at getting your board but what size? Should I go 150? What boots do your recommend? I’m a 12 to 13 size US. 2nd when I’m getting air and land I’m falling forward. Should I lean against the line all the way through the entire jump? I’m afraid of looping out.
Go up to the Hyperlite Murray 150. And probably will have to go to the open toe 11-14. Biggest closed toe Hyperlite makes is 11-12 so that could work but will have to be your call
Good question, but I didn’t invent em. I just started doing more than most people were doing and I started taking a lot of the wake tricks and brought em outside the wake to do em off flat water. Lots of riders were doing em back in the mid to late 90s, but I feel like Parks and I were doing the most at one point. We were doing some air tricks in the turns during comps so we could more tricks in
Hey Shaun, I have a quick question for you. I am working on my toe side backroll and I can't seem to get farther than half way around. Do you have any tips to get all of the way around. I know it is a doable trick for me to do and I'll keep you posted when I get it. Thanks Shaun keep up the good work!
Thank you for this! Would like a Toeside ollie and ollie 180 tutorial too because I just can't seem to stop my board from turning back towards the boat once I flatten off to go for the ollie 😭
I know this is off topic, but I’m struggling with Pro-Starts in wakeboarding . It’s hard to get the board in the water so I can be straight up and down when I’m on floating on my back.. I know there’s a technique to it. You have any videos on Pro-Starts…?
Not off topic at all. Here's one a did a long time ago ua-cam.com/video/xIzjzN3k02s/v-deo.html And here's one I did more recently ua-cam.com/video/KUCU-DjhICo/v-deo.html
Hi Shaun, suffice to say - love all the videos and tutorials you make 😎 One question about the ollies though… over the past couple of years I've watched stacks of ollie tutorials (boat / cable, wakeboard / wakeskate) and they all suggest you initially push/stamp down on the front foot, like the opposite of how you ollie on a skateboard, and then bring the board level by lifting your back leg 😕 It's a bit of a moot point though as we go to a small lake teeming with jetskis, so it's generally choppier than the high seas 😭
Your tutorial videos are awesome! Thanks for putting these together to help make wakeboarding more fun for everyone!
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
This makes so much more sense then trying to lift the board. Thank you!!

Love the feedback Ron! Let me know how it goes next year
BRO I AM SO STOKED FROM THIS! GREAT JOB HOMIE!
Great tutorial! I pop ollies like I was on a skateboard, but this looks SO much easier. Going to sneak out tomorrow and try this out. THANKS SHAUN!
Would love to see a video on how to safely and properly ride doubles!
Not a bad idea thnkfrsh! For now, go the same length, not different lengths, and make sure you're communicating about who's doing what and where you're going.
Perfect timing. I'm going to try this today.
Lemme know how it goes!
These tutorials got me pumped. Cant wait to get a 150 and start trying all this 😎

Got my first back roll and working on my raley and 360’s because of Shaun’s videos. The Jet Pilot Vest has some magic in it. 💪🏼👍🏻
Steppin it up big time Cole 👊🏼
Been watching Sean since the honkies vhs. Love what he’s done for the sport.

Thanks 👍 ✌️
Hi Shawn I wakesurf left foot forward and surf in the right side of the boat and I am wondering if this will effect how I ride.

thanks Shaun. Do u use ollie to get more air off the wake?
Good question, but no. Have you watched my videos on getting more pop?
It would be a cool video to see exactly how high you could go on a re entry air

Hey Shaun, I saw on the internet that you were the inventor of air tricks if that is true can you tell me how did you come up with it.

Good question. Have you seen this one yet? ua-cam.com/video/yn_LoFw7D0Q/v-deo.htmlsi=TCBUAVf9t39SfotS
@@Shaun.Murray i did after i asked You. But, anyway, two fins, one fin? And also rocker (angles, three stage? Continuos?)
hey shaun, love your board but i don’t got 500 for a board. any giveaways that you’re doing?
Thanks for the comment but no giveaways right now. But I try to do em when I can so stay tuned!

I’m very curious how I could do a surface 180? My board has 2 centre fine on each side so is it even possible?

Tricks like this won't be more difficult "tied low" as we call it

What's the right position of the feet on the board?
Good question. Search Shaun murray and wakeboard stance. I did an edit on that very thing
