I'm sorry you weren't able to climb to the summit, but what a beautiful area. It makes me glad, all over again, to live near such glorious, wild places with so much natural diversity. The encounter with the conservation dogs and their personal accommodation was entertaining too. Great video, thanks.
Thanks Robin. It was beautiful, especially the beech forest towards the bushline. The weather deteriorated further later on, so I was glad I got in what I did
Hi bud, nice touch with the birds at the end there. Hearing the tui was awesome, those robins love it when you scrape and disturb the ground with your feet, they will then fly down and eat whatever you reveal, oddly enough the robins here love exactly the same thing, fantastic to see one, looked like a young one. Don't blame you for not doing the peak, pretty changable weather up there, from when you started and then near the hut was just so different. Good to hear you puffing ha ha, I'm not the only one! Got my fix of the bush again, many thanks, cheers Chris
Thanks for watching Chris. It was pretty special having the robin come in so close. I think the calls might have been bellbird as they were around too, but not 100% sure. A huge weather contrast for sure. Haha it was a good climb! I wanted to make sure the video showed that
@@ReviloNZwalks I have to admit I hesitated about the Tui. We dont have the bellbirds by me when I was in Auckland, but I did hear them on tiri tiri matangi island, good call, very unique and beautiful sound, fantastic to hear, all the best, Cheers.
@@ReviloNZwalks It is a Korimako, you can see it near the top of the screen ~70% of the way across @10:56. That is a lucky find! Another great video thanks Revilo!
@@andrewpoad Thanks for your confirmation! Great spotting. I had my eye on it before pulling out my camera, but during that clip I'd actually lost sight of it, so good to know I still got it!
Nice, Travers Sabine huh? That's a great circuit, did it in Feb-2018 just before the start my channel so only photos. What are your plans, maybe I can offer recommendations?
@@ReviloNZwalks Sadly I turned around on the blue lake track as we were told that the TA walkers had completely packed the place up And I wasn’t carrying a tent.I guess it’s not so much of an issue at the moment?
@@OutdoorsmanDave There were a fair few people on the track but still lots of hut space other than my first night when I tented. But apparently pre Covid it was really busy in TA season.
Amazing footage and place. Enjoyed
Thanks very much!

Many thanks Dave but I've already finished the trip, it was awesome. Just did the standard circuit with Blue Lake too. Maybe Angelus next time. Cheers
