Thanks for watching and your kind words lesliechr. I’d love to go back on a blue sky day to see the difference as I know the big views will be amazing 😀
OM Gosh... I sat up to watch this. You had an epic adventure. Wow. The conditions looked formidable. And I'm so glad you didn't cross that river! 😳I am so glad you're ok. Tip my hat to you amazing lady. ☝Well done...
Thanks for watching and your kind words Be Yourself. Lol there was no way I was getting in that water, it was raging by! Difficult conditions mean I don’t capture the best video as I’m literally just trying to survive so am glad i captured enough for you to enjoy 😊
@@FreewheelingKiwi I love being out when the elements change but not as drastic as your situation. Everything was captured in its natural environment and I guess that made it special to watch. You braved it and Im chuffed for you! 💪🙌👏👍🤩🤗😀
Thanks Te Aroha, in this instance I struggled initially as I’d had a very big week so started fairly exhausted which isn’t ideal. 🥱 Still figuring out a healthy balance. I’d love to go back when the weather is beautiful and splice the two videos together somehow. My tent didn’t cope but that’s the compromise with a super lightweight tent, my pack when equipment is dry is already around 15 kilos so I’m not keen to add to it 😀
Hi Ervinslens, thanks for coming back to my channel and your kind words. It was tough conditions and I wasn’t able to capture on film as much as I’d have liked so do appreciate your feedback 😀
I really enjoy your other videos, but this one is my favorite. I agree with your statement in this video, such as "We learn a lot from tough experiences". I love traveling by bicycle when the weather is nice, but even on rainy days, I believe I can have valuable experiences and learn a lot from them. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Keigo_T, thanks so much for watching and your kind feedback. You are so right and the sense of achievement is great after a tough day. I always feel it raises the resilience bar as to what I can cope with in all sorts of situations. Happy trails 🚴🚴🏻♂️
So why you walked that track in that weather beats me. I've always carefully check out the weather first especially up there as tramping/hunting is meant to be an enjoyment isn't it? Not stuck in a small tent soaking wet. However good luck to you.
I was wondering when you gonna do this walk. I did it in early January 1990 with couple of school buddy’s. But the weather was nice blue sky. Your tough cookie doing that walk in the rain. Good conditioning. Did you see a deer ?
Hi Tim, thanks for watching my video. There was plenty of signs of rubbing on the trees and I heard a deer outside the tent during the night. Didn’t see them but plenty of sign 🦌🦌
Thanks for watching Megan, I mainly use a GoPro for filming and set it up on different tripods or if someone is about, I’ll get them to hold it for me 🎥🎞️
Hi Anthony, wow South Africa, you’ve a beautiful country. True but with my super lightweight tent it’s not waterproof in those conditions, though I don’t think much would have been in the circumstances 🏕️

I'm glad one of your UA-cam shorts came in my feed! Just subbed! Great shots in this video
Hello The Shape, thanks so much for subbing and your kind feedback, it’s very much appreciated 😀
Very good film, thank you. Very plucky of you to go on. And very beautiful, the more so, probably, in the rains.
Many thanks E Smith, it’s stunning countryside and I’m looking forward to returning in the dry 😀
You are awesome! What an amazing message. Truly inspiring, you’re one tough and wise person. Loved this video. Well done 🙌
Thanks very much for watching my video and for your positive support Chris 💚
Great work. A wet night, but the learnings last much longer.
Thanks for watching Phillip, I’ve never camped in sigh conditions, great fun 😅
The sense of achievement is great Phillip, thanks very much for watching, I do appreciate it 😀
I was really moved by this, thanks so much, I’m inspired by your words. I will try to push my own limits a bit more after seeing this.
Thanks Melinda, one step at a time and we can all achieve great things 😀
Crikey that was very courageous - glad you got back safely. Xx

I’m keen to hear what you’ve learned and potentially change. Will you do a follow up video?

Gorgeous video, the way it is edited and filmed deserves all the praise. I enjoyed every second my friend 🔥

Thanks for watching Fred, our weather is so so unpredictable. Four seasons in one day ❄️⛈️🌈☀️
🤩
🙏 😊
Some good decisions made. It must be a real challenge being by yourself out there though. Still, that's the reason you do it I suppose. 😃
Thanks Neil, in an ideal world the sun would shine and the wind would be gentle. Each trip is a learning curve, some steeper than others 😬
The rain has just been horrendous lately. Very wise decision to deviate from the plan and to not cross the river.
Hi Weka, hasn’t it just, when’s summer coming back? Thanks for watching and your kind feedback, I do appreciate it 😀

Wet clothes.... Horrible to put on!.
I had to wring my socks out, everything was wet. The good part was it wasn’t too cold, it would have been a different outcome in winter 🥶 ☔️⛈️
@@FreewheelingKiwi Do you always camp solo, more peaceful and only yourself to please I expect?.

In South Africa your tent has a fitted bottom which gives you total, encapsulated shelter.
