    I was shooting with Nikon for more than 8 years. A few days ago I bought a Lumix s5ii with a 50 mm pro 1.4 lens, I'm in love with this camera. Looking to buy a 15-35 mm lens and then will replace my z6ii with the next model from Lumix. A few weeks ago I was thinking about buying a Nikon Z8, but now there's no way I'm going to do that.

      Also the s5ii has better autofocus than the new Nikon Z6iii.

      YES! I tell people that but they dont know untill they know! The Autofocus is great, like 90% of the ZVE1. You really would never know the difference. I was reluctant to get the S5ii, but MAN for the money you pay you can not get a better camera for the price in my opinion. Especially if you buy used! Thanks for watching and the comments!😊😊

      YES! I totally agree! You cant beat it! It really is Awesome if you take the time to learn it. Built in fan, full hdmi, 6k open gate recording and great autofocus! If you buy used, you can not touch this cameras features with anything else in my opinion!

    I am currently deciding on my 1st camera. I think I want the s5ii or even the s5iix for future proof reasons. I love that it is an all around hybrid camera that is slight more focused on the video end of things but the stills that I've seen are beautiful. Planning on doing street photography, short films, and starting UA-cam. It might be overkill for a starter cam but I really want something I can grow into. Lens options are pretty good too. I'd also like to know what you think about this too. awesome comparisons btw I've looked into all of these cameras and I'm still on the fence.

    That z6iii looks sweet, but at this point I have so much invested in lenses that I'm just going to have to wait for sony to catch up (if you want to look at it like that). A7S3 was WAY ahead of its time

      @alphaandomega2709 Absolutely. I love Sony auto focus. They are still on top. If you don't need professional features, Or need something light for travel? And it's good for pictures, a7cii is an amazing option as well. I honestly can’t see the difference in Sony/Nikon/Canon autofocus in 2024 enough to make any significant difference. Sony’s all area AF looks simpler to use, but Nikon int he right AF mode is just as effective. Nikon has refined that AF like mad in the Z9 and trickled it into the other expeed 7 cameras. The Z9/8 seem to be basically the same as the A1 at this point, but the Z8 costs half.

    Lumix S5ii + a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN 'Art' II looks like a sweet set-up and would cost about $2800 all in
    Nikon z6iii + the Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8 would be the similar set-up and cost about 4500
    Lumix combo would have better DR - and weigh 80 grams less if you cared. Tempted to buy them both and compare them but at the end of the day how do you ignore the $1700 difference.

      And by far the best telephoto lineup on the market right now. You have to pay WAY more for the same with Canon or Sony and Panasonic isn’t even in the race for telephoto, they don’t have any primes beyond 500mm.

    Panasonic is useless for me because of this PanaLeica firmware glitch >>>> If you set AFL+AEL to OFF in menu and then switch from AFC to MF /AFS via the back dial or via the lens button the camera reverts to AEL lock via shutter half press instantly ( Leica Q3 and other Leica SL do the same ... #1 reason I stopped shooting Leica M cameras ... also the reason you can not shoot Zeiss ZE lenses on Pana/Leica with ANY adapter )

    I'm kind of envious of you Full Frame guys.... NOT that I want one. I had the R5 and dumped it, because FF never gave me the reach I needed. I'm envious, because you guys have SO many options, and as if those were not enough, every major brand comes out with new FF bodies all the time. Meanwhile, for bird shooters who need max reach, their is the Canon R7 (with all its shortcomings). The Olympus OM1 might be an option with its 2 X's crop factor. But for now, that really about it.

      You know when I think about it, you're totally right, chris. tamron or sigma, or one of the other third parties really would make a killing if they came out with a 1000mm f4 or something or Like an eight hundred to twelve hundred zoom lens For a somewhat reasonable price, they would make an Absolute, killing, because there's no competition for that! Thank you for your comments, man. I appreciate it

    • @kalimarus
      @kalimarus 18 днів тому

      Why not just use DX crop on a Z8 with the 180-600. That’s about the best value in wildlife shooting at the moment. A less expensive option would be one of the latest OM-1’s or OM-5 and the 75-300. $2500 for FF the Z6iii pretty much leaves everything behind right now.

    • @Chris_Wolfgram
      @Chris_Wolfgram 16 днів тому

      @@kalimarus I'm sorry, but I'm confused.... The Z8 is a FF body, and the 180-600, is whatever it is, depending on the body. So that lens on a Z8 would only be 600mm correct ?
      I'm very used to a 1280mm equivalent. Just right for me.

    • @kalimarus
      @kalimarus 16 днів тому

      @@Chris_Wolfgram The Z8 has a 20
      mp DX mode, so you basically have APSC built in for crop. You can use TCs on the 180-600 as well. With the 1.4 TC you have that 1280 eq, and you have all the benefits of FF. I own M43 as well and it won’t beat my Z8 for image quality at higher iso that you encounter often with wildlife and high shutter speeds. The smaller M43 like the OM5 and 75-300 is a really nice small wildlife camera though.

    • @Chris_Wolfgram
      @Chris_Wolfgram 16 днів тому

      @@kalimarus oh, okay. I get you now, the DX mode 👍
      That would certainly work.
      So that would give you (I believe Nikon has a 1.5 X's crop ?) 240-900, which is a little short for me.
      Currently I'm shooting with a fixed 1280mm equivalent, but hoping to get the 200-800 sooner... Or later... Which would give me 320-1280mm, with almost half the MFD that I have now. Ideal for my shooting 🙂
      Btw, I did use my Canon R5 in crop mode for a while, and that dropped my mp's from 45 to 17 ! But even besides the low mp's it lost something which is hard to put into words. I just know I do WAY better with my APS-C R7, than I did with my FF R5.
      Can't say it would be exactly the same experience with Nikon. But again, I'd try anything. I'm definitely not a brand loyalist 🙂

    • @kalimarus
      @kalimarus 18 днів тому +1

      The A7V could very well be a disappointment. Just look at the A9iii specs vs the Z6iii. Aside from 120 FPS RAW (the Z6iii does 120 in jpeg) and some advantage in flicker reduction for LED lighting the $6500 A9iii really doesn’t do anything better and takes a hit in image quality for general use because of the global shutter and the buffer is trash compared to the Z6iii. Why would the A7V suddenly surpass that camera in specs? I think Sony users are a bit in shock that Nikon has dropped the Z9/8/Zf and Z6iii which are just better cameras for less and knock out Sony at about every price point in value in 2024, and Nikon has a much better telephoto lineup for wildlife and sports which is where you use all that speed.
