- The Young Generation pay tribute to the fairer members of the dance troupe. There are no edits in this sequence, it's all performed in one continuous take with the vision mixer cutting live. This brings a smile to my face but at the same time a touch of sadness that the innocence and joy of this kind of entertainment is long gone. As it is, take a nostalgia trip and soak in the energetic choreography (Douglas Squires), the superb orchestration (Alyn Ainsworth) and the Young Generation singing as well as dancing. What a pretty place indeed! If any former YG members are out there please drop me a line !

So happy to see this, memories from my childhood, love the innocence. Having two daughters that dance I know the hard work that goes into every move - long live dance!
I have to thank you again. This is one of my favorite things ever on UA-cam.
So cheesy, but undeniable in its quality. Such unalloyed enthusiasm! That band is right on, too. Thank you for posting this.
I don't know about the dancers, but I still work in the theatre with Dougie Squires, who is still very much to the fore as a choreographer, stager, producer and director in his late seventies, and one on the best and nicest people I ever come across in this business.
It makes me wonder where the Solid Gold dancers are today. LOL!
I didn't know Wei Wei Wong had been on Golden Shot, but I know she had done some acting as well. I notice this video lacks Lesley Judd [Blue Peter] who was also in Young Generation

Absolutely glorious. Lovely routine, stunning arrangement. What's this from? Is it a Rolf Harris show? That's Kenny Clare on drums with the Ainsworth band. Instantly recognisable.
