Awesome stuff Matt! Thanks for everything you do for the sport As an aside, this translator was great, however almost all translators I see need to watch Yoel Romero’s old translator (dude with the ponytail) for how to really do it right; he translates after every sentence, no more than like 8 seconds of talking. That way, the translation comes across most directly As an example here, Alexey would talk for over a minute straight, then the dude would translate....but how can he accurately remember what was said over 1-2 full minutes? It always results in some detail being missed, and often alters the original message, unintentionally Again not to be a jerk, just some advice Edit to add, he actually mentioned how he hoped he didn’t miss any details cause it was a long translation. He should speak to the person he is translating ahead of time, and tell them to keep it to 1-2 sentences, then break so he can translate
I've been watching a lot of armwrestling content lately. So much that it has seeped into my dreams. Last night I dreamt that Alexey Voevoda was secretly an accomplished serial killer.

Thanks for getting to the bottom of whether he is or was vegan. Sadly, he's not vegan. Veganism is an ethical stance against the exploitation of animals. It's not a diet. Many athletes and celebs who refer to themselves as vegan are not actually vegan, but rather they follow a plant based diet. They tend to do it for health reasons. It's about themselves, not the animals. They still likeky wear shoes and clothing from leather etc and or use toiletries containing animal products or tested on animals. So whilst vegans also eat plant based , there's the ethical and moral views that are the reasons to consume plant based food and drinks. Vegans differ to vegetarians in what they eat and drink too. Vegans consume nothing from animals. It's still good he doesn't eat animals , but this interview will hopefully put an end to him being incorrectly referred to as a vegan. Keep up the great job Matt!

i love john, i get its a business sport unfortunately these days, but him vs an elite much younger opponent doesn't make much sense. Him vs a clean Voevoda with a layoff of 20 years could be interesting.
Hey Matt a little constructive criticism and a personal opinion. I think you should have more than 3 matches at KOTT. In my opinion the value for money isn't close to the one of the EvsW events.
PPV revenue does not cover more with these athletes. We plan to have more matches in future with a re-structure. Engin has said numerous time PPV has not covered EvW, we can not sustain Armwrestling at KOTT if we do that and we don't want the sport to collapse yet again. The cost of 3 cups of Starbucks coffee in my opinion in this day and age is excellent value but as I say, from KOTT 8 I think there will be more matches with a different business strategy of match types.
@@MattRhodesSport is really cool you answer your viewer and i would hardly suggest you to follow what jerry suggest few weeks in the past ! the duo team fight / it can really give something crazy and unique !

So, even though Alexey understands what Matt is saying, he probably can’t articulate himself well enough in English, so he uses his mother tongue
I'd be happy to see Alexei back and competing like Denis is now but deep down I doubt we ever see him competing at multiple big events again. I think one or two losses to current top 10 guys will probably drive him back to retirement.

I hope he gives it a real go, takes his time, and gets into great shape. I think his rematch with John is a little late - this should have happened between 2006-2015 when John was still arguably the best in his weight class (and those in the know said John would have clobbered Alexey had they met in 2006). It's more of an exhibition with John being 58 years old, but should be a decent way to ease back in for Alexey. If he hangs around the 225-240 pound area, it would be great for the sport to see him competing at a high level there. His name is at the very least, a draw, during a time when armwrestling is starting to pull in real money.
he talked about that match not so long ago in an interview. and he said that the match with John went completely according to his script.(he made it clear that he had a reserve then and I understood that the following fights ended in the use of the voevoda) He also said that John dominated unconditionally for the next 2 years. And the voevoda went into the Olympic sport, apparently he did not see his companions and in order not to be bored, he went on to develop.
While it's great to have him back, I also think he still has his work cut out for him if he hasn't gotten significantly stronger since losing to Bresnan in 2016.
