Brilliant video, I have already moved from sky to Apple TV & came across the tv launcher app by chance, it’s perfect for me! Great channel, you now have a new subscriber.
Having moved from Sky Q to sky stream, I also have Apple TV and the Amazon cube, the one thing I miss more than any other is recordings of new shows being automatically added to my device. The sky stream playlist function sort of gives something like this, showing your favourite shows and when new episodes are available, but the Apple TV and Amazon cube have nothing, you have to know yourself what series your watching, when new episodes are out and then go find them. This is a huge step backwards for me, why do I have to remember or know everything about new episodes, why can’t these devices aggregate that for me. Like I say, sky stream does it ok to a point, not all apps work with it….this area needs the most work on all devices by far.
Excellent review. TV Launcher is exactly what I've been looking for, as the Apple TV does not natively have a way of aggregating all live content from various apps into one channel guide. This is perfect, thank you for posting this!
You could save ya self £4.99 and just use the free view app on your iPad which does the same all you need to do is airplay to Apple tv does the same but opens the app on your iPad which you just airplay without opening the stream app on the tv
Gave notice of leaving Sky this week and got the Apple Tv with the tv launcher. Very impressed. The TV launcher app is now £4.99 but worth it. Could you do a video of apps you would recommend at all?
Sky, really have done a good job with sky stream in my opinion , though this app looks great for the price, my only reservation and same with sky stream, as long as third party apps do not pull support, then it looks like a great second room option as well. Really well explained as well thank you…

Hi there, just wondering if you could help? with the now subscription for the sky movie channels, you normally have to pay for the now “boost” do you still need that when using the Apple TV set up? Or is it already 4k with the box?

Notice in your Apple TV setting you use 60Hz. I’ve moved to 50Hz because that is what NOW TV HD streams at. You can see stream glitching on sky sports news yellow scrolling ticker as an example at 60Hz , it’s just smoother at native 50Hz which is what U.K. use. Cannot tell the difference for anything else. 50Hz HDR works best for me for footy.
@@TheB1gduk NOW does run at 50Hz but you don't need to set the display to 50hz on your Apple TV to get a smooth picture. Set it to 4K HDR10+ 60 (best available) and make sure you enable Match Frame Rate. Each app will then run in their native refresh rate and you won't get any judder. Unlike the Fire Cube where, when you set the display to Automatic and enable "Match Frame Rate", you would still get a juddery picture on NOW (the app doesn't support the Match Frame Rate feature on the fire cube) unless you locked in the refresh rate to 50Hz.
I noticed that when you launched the "W" channel it opened the UKTV Play app but didn't start playing or give you the option to start playing. I am having this issue with any content that uses the UKTV Play app. Is this something you are finding?
The developer has addressed this issue which he says unfortunately it’s down to the way UKTV Play is developed which doesn’t make it possible to launch the particular channels live stream directly. Here you go I found his response to the same question on Reddit: “This is mentioned in the App Store description but essentially it’s because the UKTV Play app doesn’t support the same mechanisms as the other apps to actually launch the channel itself. I decided to include them anyway for purposes of the TV Guide. I’d love to be able to launch them directly but hope you understand!”
Time you have paid for NOW TV £9.99 Boost £6 and Netflix £6 Discovery plus £5.99 that’s a total of £27. That’s more than Sky stream at £26 with a lot less channels and less ease of use. Appreciate there are deals to be had with NOW tv but there are with sky stream too. I currently pay £13 a month for Sky stream and that includes Netflix l. For the majority of homes this is just too clunky. Great video
@@RateMyTech they won’t offer that for ever mate ! Anyway even with that offer add on Netflix and discovery plus. It works out more than I paying for Sky stream at £13 a month which includes Netflix and discovery. There always deals to be had.
Hi , enjoyed the vid - I’m just wondering as you’ve spoken with the developer if they have any plans bringing this to fire tv / Roku? I have sky stream for the living room really impressed with it , but this would be a great live tv alternative for other rooms without having to buy another streaming device 😂 cheers

Who would i have to subscribe to if i wanted to watch Sky movie channels for example? Surely it will cost a fortune in the end? I must be missing something?
@goodcat1982 it’s a tv guide for Apple TV bbc and itv and channel 4 all that is free apart from bbc license. But instead it going to each app and seeing what’s on you have one central guide to see all on all channels.
Have you tried TV Launcher yet? Would you switch from what you have?

Yeah that’s the thing but I try to take notes of what to watch then just watch it

There should be a delay thing in the settings but I have an LG sound bar and it’s fine.

You need the boost for 4k I believe u less your TV is upscaling content.

I don’t know if it is on the App Store maybe but it might only be UK or US channels

Ahhh but it’s not you see once to sign up now Tv go to cancel and at the end they offer a deal for 6 months I currently pay £3 for it and £2 boost.
