I want to hear about your thoughts on all this what you watching Tv with and why?
Yes boss mine Ido reset but after reset its telling me that I should put 6digita i put on Google or computer but still more network is down from the day I connect only for that particular
I’ve had Stream since April last year- one problem after another sadly. I was wondering if you have the same Netflix issue as me. If I voice search a title that is only available on Netflix, such as Leave The World Behind or Baby Reindeer or any netflix original that is only available on netflix, Sky Stream skips a step and takes me directly to the Netflix page instead of taking me to the tile of the title. This means I can’t add it to playlist. With other titles (on any other streaming service or if it is available on netflix and other services), I’m directed to the tile of the title. This means I can add it to playlist if I want to. I’ve complained about this to sky 5 times so far. Each time I’m told that nobody has ever complained about this issue which tells me it’s being ignored. Do you or any of your subscribers have the same issue? Can you give it a try to see if you have the same issue?
Great video, looking to purchase soon, how does it work if you put something on your playlist and it’s not recorded in the ‘sky cloud’ and takes you to a streaming service? Do you have to watch ads on that service even if you have ad skipping with sky?
Thank you it’s always on the cloud so you can watch it when you want
Sky are currently testing a low latency Sky Sports main event, 921 is HD, 922 is UHD, it’s on average 20+ seconds ahead of the 401, it’s basically back to where the satellite feed is, these two channels do not show on the tv guide, you just have to punch the channel numbers in.
Thanks for the video, quick question on the playlists, does it show you where you left off on a particular show and show the episodes after this? For example, if i was half way through watching a Dragons Den episode and then came back in 2 weeks time, would it show where i left off? Thanks
Yes it does for me
Hi Bud I had an issue yesterday where I lost the Channels ie bbc and itv etc tv guide had to call sky had to reset the box they did say there has been an issue with this lately
Is there polish language for audio available?
Considering just going to Apple TV, however outside the sky stream, q debate. I do really love the interface ease of use, which is holding me back overall.
Stevo, would you consider a refresh review of the TV launcher app on Apple TV?
Happy to
Is there a delay in the feed for live sports? Or are matches etc up to speed
Tough question sometimes yes sometimes no
Nice one Steve. Great to see you again. Was waiting on an update with the review. Now I’ve just got to decide Somali if I’ll change from Sky Q to Sky Steam. The thought of having UHD4K Dolby Atmos and Vision in each room is a good selling point for me.
I love it
the only issue i had was for some strange reason the fast foward on some programs was not working properly, sky told me it was a software problem but i got a new remote and is all good now
Just switched from Q to Stream, they switched my Q services over to Stream and wouldn't let me alter my package until it had arrived and been set up which I found strange, is that normal or have I been done? What do you do with your old Q box, remote, cables and satellite dish once the Stream has been set up?
The box belongs to sky. I don't think sky are interested in taking off old dishes. Too much hassle.
How can you tell what speeds are going to the puck and I’m getting 900mb why would you recommend hard wired if you have such a good question your knowledge and videos are informative and great as ever
Hard wire there are no dropped packets to a degree it’s solid
Hi, if ur landline is connected to ur broadband router for VoIP if u reset the router does it mess with the phone that’s plugged in to it?
Thanks
Not these days that’s old skool
@@RateMyTech what I meant was if I reset router will it disconnect the landline ?
@JackJohnson-ry1il got
You
Hia, good review completely agree so much more smooth since the new update couldn’t go without playlist anymore wouldn’t go back from sky stream,
one small issue I have is the Amazon music app crashing repeatedly which I have access to through my prime sub and hoping Apple Music may come to it one day as I love having the music play through tv to my speakers , have a good weekend thanks for the vid 🎉
I agree
Hi Steve, I did have stream for a couple of months but it kept throwing up random messages, bit tempramental so got rid. Accessing Sky now though Now app on my Apple box linked to my HomePods. Cheaper too. 👍
I find when you select a programme on prime or Netflix there is a lag. Bit frustrating. And rewinding and forwarding while watching a program is very fiddly. Hmm I’m a bit on the fence with stream and I may go back to Q
Good to have choice
I also have a bee in my bonnet about the ad skipping. You’re not actually skipping the ads, your fast forwarding through them. For a fiver they should be completely removed. Sky are robbing bar stewards and just as bad as the streaming companies
Kicked sky out long time ago never missed it to much money for crap
Sky Q owner here considering stream. Can you confirm how quickly live sport becomes available if you have it set to "record" on Stream? For example, if the F1 has been on, and the programme finishes at 4pm, can I at 4:30 start watching it? Or do I have to wait for it to come on-demand to watch it? Which can sometimes be the following day. Thanks.
It’s live sometime might be a slight 10/15s delay but it’s live
@@RateMyTech thanks for the reply. I mean when the live broadcast has finished, is it immediately available to me to watch from the start?
If for example you rely on on-demand on Q, it can be up to a day before it's available. On Stream is it available immediately?
Stay with sky q it does all this and a lot more don’t do it.
@@jeffreyhemingway9578 stream is cheaper tho 😬
I heard you say you’re with EE for broadband. How do you find it. I’m with Sky and have had nothing but problems (the broadband keeps dropping out) Looking at moving to EE or Zen. Would love to hear your thoughts.
So far they have been really good constant speeds and good service.
@@RateMyTech I'm on EE/BT, no problems, I've slung the BT TV box back at them, it's so glitchy, my Sky Stream should arrive in the next hour!
i had sky broadband and it was flaky very flaky ,,just moved to brsk broadband full fibre to the house 500mb broadband 28.00 a month fixed for 24 months no issues very very pleased, just ordered sky stream
@@flustered1939 27 years of internet experience, the worst two are Sky and Talk Talk, best two Virgin and BT/EE.
Sounds like you love this sky stream i want my tv on my wall and seems so easier with just the small box instead of the cables everywhere...so how much is this box
I think I paid £20 for it but it might different now
I would suggest u look outside the U.K. for things like Disney Plus - u can buy from Turkey same package for about £20! Apple One from India for approx £2 per
Month
Do u also pay for NOW?
They have cracked down on it now I couldn't for the life of me getting it to work with Disney because my card isnt registered in the country. My netflix however has been like it probably atleast 6 years and my UA-cam premium is also using a foreign account.
Yes I do
I by default managed to pair the sky q remote with my second stream box last year. However I have ditched multi room now & just have the box on another tv. Main tv is Apple with all my streaming subs
Cool
Hey mate, great videos. Just wondering though - what is the advantage of going for this over NOWtv? It's still Sky, and it's still streamed but it's so much cheaper. Often you can get deals on it too to make it even cheaper. I understand if you don't have a smart tv, then sky stream is attractive but for anyone with a modern telly, NOWtv seems to be a much better offer in terms of value.
They both have their advantages
Just ordered Sky Stream, switch from Sky Q, during the summer we have signal problems with sky q happens every year, dish has been moved 6 times by sky over the years so not sure where else they could put the dish now, so feel stream will be better, not too bothered about not being able to record things and have virgin 1gig broadband so connection shouldn't be a problem, wouldn't have considered it if i didn't have virgin as the normal fibre is about 20mbps in my area.
I love stream just as good if not better
We use mainly sports. Without the record option you can not watch football matches on demand. Only thing they show are highlights which you can easily get online.
Seem like a complete waste of money for sports fans.
Does anyone know if you sign up for sky stream do you get a sky go password? I use my dads login and share the bill. Tempted with changing
For the mobile yes but not for Apple
Or Ps5
My wife likes downloading Eastenders and Emmerdale through Sky Q. Does Sky Stream take you straight to the bbci player, and Itv player when you want to watch them, or does it let you watch them straight away like on sky Q?
You can record in sky steam but it’s saved in the cloud instead of locally. So yeah you need an active internet connection but that’s fine.
Mate the new software update .25 was massive. It allows for far more recordings to be made to the cloud within the playlist rather than on demands
That’s so good
Have a look at the programmes within your playlist. It will tell you if it has been recorded to the cloud or not. Plus mate these boxes aren’t made by amstrad. The boxes are made by Xfinity in America who are also a Comcast company. Google it mate
do you know sky sports events on sky available to be rewatched immediately
Not sure
What would happen if you wanted to watch something after broadcast on Discovery but don't pay for Discovery+ I suspect you couldn't unless you pay for Discovery+ so in effect you have to pay for your sky subscription and subscriptions to all the catch-up apps
If you
Have discovery you can catch up right?
I wish they’d release it like the Hubbl in Australia which is the IDENTICAL service but where it’s more like a Now TV service where you use it to its OTA Freeview and can add channels - I’d like this as my I live stream more but everyone in the house likes Q
Anyone still having issues with watching UFC events through catch up? Do you still have to wait 48 hours for it
Hello, thanks for the video. Interesting.
I had Sky+ for years. Till 2018 ish. Loved it. Left for Virgin when I moved house.
Jumped back to Sky through Sky stream nearly 18 months ago.
Personal opinion only, I hate it. Bug ridden and overly complex.
Depending on this video I'll be swapping to Sky Q.
I wouldn't change from Q until Talking Pictures arrives on stream.
I got Sky Stream last year. Loved the picture quality, but the box kept turning itself off every 4 hours. It was really annoying when watching something like horse racing or even darts.
So went back to Sky Q after month with Stream.
I'll not go back to Stream unless I'm forced.
Just done it. Couldn’t record with sky stream. No good to me
How many internet connections can you have? Also what happens when your internet goes down?
Use the Ariel but how often is the internet down these days
@@RateMyTech my internet goes down about 3 or 4 times a year as the hub for the whole area goes tits up & it takes a couple of days to repair it. I don’t have an Ariel just a sky dish. Will the hub work if I piggyback it off of my phone like a Roku?
I have Sky Stream. It’s good at collating stuff but I find the box a bit glitchy.
What sort glitches are you getting
@@RateMyTech Sound mostly. Sometimes the sound is out of sync to the video and on occasion it doesn’t start at all. Also video occasionally not starting or buffering until I reboot the box. ITVX is the worst culprit. I think it’s a connection issue, I’m 100% sure it’s not my internet because all my other devices are ok. I got sky stream on day 1 and I wonder if it’s because it’s an early model sky stream box.
Overall, I think I’ll stick with it but hope they produce a next gen sky stream box.
I wouldn't more from Sky Q to Stream simply because you're more likely to have an issue with your internet connection, you're without TV. You only have to look at the issues Virgin had during the first Covid lockdowns where all of their customers were off line for 3-4 hours. At a local level, if there's a fault with the connection between your ISP and your home, they can take days to resolve at times. Why would you want to be reliant on that one connection?
You also have a freeview Ariel included and these days for a solid internet to drop is rare.
Unfortunately it doesn’t record so I would never change from Sky Q to Stream sorry 😮
I've went back to Now £2.99 each for entertainment/cinema and £1 for boost for 6 month and not having to forward adverts geet in lol 👍
Great to see you back steve. I've had Sky Stream for over a year and absolutely love it. Ditching Sky Q was the best thing that I've ever done. I'm out of contract though in July so need to see what deals Sky can offer me as my bill will then be going up to over £100 a month and that's without sports.
Been with Sky for 10 years now so hopefully loyalty will count for something.
Thank you
For some reason steve I'm unable to see your comment buddy. Says you replied to me but nothing there.
Just says thank you
Sky give sign up "deals" for an 18 month subscription and then 6 months in put their prices up.
I can not have a dish. Got low broadband speed got sky stream yesterday. Got connected yesterday . Runs fine watch sky sports with no issues.
I really like sky stream , hardly watch apple tv box now . Wish they had hdr10, plus tho
It will come I think
Auyup Steve
In terms of sky stream, I really like the UI, I still think playlist is a mess because when you add something to a playlist, you can add things like individual episodes, it has to be everything, all peanuts nothing in the middle.
Sky just want to stay relevant naturally and the best way of doing that going forward is getting a piece of that streaming pie.
In terms of Amazon, I got pissed because I got stung twice when I watched road house 2024 and Road house, 89.
I mean shit if Amazon wanted to just charge a little bit extra and bake it into prime itself (monthly/annually) I wouldn’t be happy but I’d be okay, it would at least come off less convoluted.
You definitely won’t see sky add premium HDR formats (HDR 10+/Dolby vision). HLG is pretty much going to be all she wrote considering sky broadcaster.
Not a big fan of the HLG colour grading, I saw some screenshots once when house of the Dragon S1 first started and HLG just looks so washed out in comparison to the Max Dolby, vision, HDR colour grading.
Great feedback
@@RateMyTech thanks Steve, hope you and yours are well like?
@Eva_H all good thank you
What happens if internet goes down?
Use the freeview Ariel
Sky stream does record now - it records to the cloud with the new update on lots more programmes
There you go
@@RateMyTech time for a video on LG channels - they’ve had a huge update and integrated them in to the Freeview EPG. Much better quality channels and integration now
iwant skystream outside uk
Totally agree Steve, had Stream 18 month now and love it. PQ is superb, could be because Stream is 36 bit colour and Q is 24 bit.
I had Q from its release until I switched to Stream in October 2022, no way will I go back.
I connect WiFi all 4 pucks, use an ASUS ax 6000 router and it’s rock solid and like you have 1 gig FTTP. Look forward to your next review 👍
Very nice
I left Sky Stream and went back to Sky Q…. The audio output on Sky Stream was terrible.
I still prefer Sky q hands down it’s the recording aspect with wins my vote….
I love my sky stream
Can I take it somewhere with me
Good question im not 100% sure
I left sky never going back
BBC: one channel for "£15 a month"? Try 4 TV channels + radio + online. And no mention of the fact that Sky stream forces you to watch adverts.
Im assuming your having a pop about TV licence. Radio isn't covered by the licence . Still a rip off either way.
@@HA05GER Radio & online are funded by the licence.
@@stewartbrough9597 they may be funded that way but you do not require a licence for the radio.
I love sky stream lots much better more quality better than Sky Q but sky stream more cheaper than sky q more expensive so that why I prefer sky stream better for me
Agree completely
Sky stream is all well and good unless you live in a crap broadband area. My mates got glass plus a puck and had full fibre and now new house has 26meg estimated. Sky recommend 25 for glass. Now my friend is adamant it will be fine were as i dont especially once the ps5 is on or the kids are youtubing. I get about 30 meg over 4g so we tethered the glass and it was barely working and dropped off of hd as soon as the ps5 was on it was basically knackered. I just dont see the point in this all singing and dancing tv when your probably not going to get reliable 1080 and 4k is just pissing in the wind. I personally would just stick with q i just wouldnt want the tv hogging bandwidth and because its skys own system how do you know if it stops using bandwidth when its in standby especially with the puck where it doesnt turn off with the tv.
I still can’t believe in 2024 we have such crap broadband in this country.
@@RateMyTech yeh crazy I've been lucky and independent has laid fibre outside mine not the cheapest but I can get gigabit. It's mad that income cases 4g is better. A friend of mine has just finally got fttc and he reckons his previous 4g was better 🤣
I kicked sky out never missed it and saving a fortune
