    I'm just finding out about this amazing rendering software. Thanks for the vid. I wonder why the height map doesn't just come as a standard part of each material?

    If you have answered this already, please forgive my redundancy and point me to the video that answers this.
    I’ve been helping an architect student to create video tours “through” his 3D models. He creates them in both Sketchup and Rhino. I’ve been running into an issue when applying materials to some of the shapes in his models. For example, if I apply a wood material to a set of stairs, every 3rd or 4th stair accepts the material in a different orientation from the stairs before and after it. So, if the wood is supposed to lay across each stair laterally (as if each tread is made from one board, for example), some of the stair treads look more like slats in a fence, or worse, angled slats. I suspect this has to do with the internal geometry that came in with the model since I can’t simply rotate the material on one stair without all of the staircase rotating with it. And even if I could, I wouldn’t want to unless I HAD to. And I imagine (though I don’t know) that each stair has a relationship to the other that makes modeling quicker. In other words, I wouldn’t want to ask the architect to create each stair separately like a stack of blocks (again, if I don’t have to).
    I don’t know how to model in Sketchup or Rhino or any program so I am really at a loss for how to troubleshoot this with him. And if he knew, I suspect this wouldn’t keep happening. It happens in virtually every model. And, not just with stairs. Sometimes it is sections of a footpath, handrails on bridges that act differently on one side of the bridge and the other, or really any surface/object that has a companion or is in a set.
    Can you advise me on how to technically address this issue or fix it myself. I don’t even know what questions to ask. When I show him, he’s clearly at a loss himself. But he’s a student so I figured I’d just on your UA-cam video and see if you can help us.
    Thanks for reading this and know that I’ll buy you a Mai Tai next time you’re in Hawaii if you can help me ... or if not.
    With aloha,
    JR

      I suggest you take a look at my videos on tips for Sketchup materials. It'll show you how to apply materials correctly

    • @Knaakknaak
      @Knaakknaak 3 роки тому

      @@ArchitectureInspirations Thank you, I will. So you think it's the way he's applying materials in sketchup? I ask because as far as I can tell, all he does is make sure each surface is the same color in sketchup so that when I add materials in Twinmotion they are also all the same. And they are. They just don't go down the same size, rotation, etc. I'll look thru your sketchup videos and see if I can find the one you're talking about.

    still far away from enscape, vray or lumion. But the bridge with UnrealEngine it's a real game changer

    • @iamcarl_
      @iamcarl_ 3 роки тому +3

      How is this far away from enscape? I've been using enscape recently and honestly I'm amazed at twinmotion's phasing and vegetation features 🤯
      Edit: Nvm...done researching about these two great softwares and now I understand the differences between them

    • @TwoTone.exe_
      @TwoTone.exe_ 3 роки тому +2

      Honestly Enscape can't even compete with Twinmotion, if you exclude Twinmotions ability to sync with UE and just focused in on its stand alone features Enscapes still miles behind, what with the terrain editor, 14000 high poly assets from Quixel along with other high quality entourage along with the ability to import your own textures and the volumetric effects like fog, fire, waterfalls etc. It's only outdone by Lumion due to its lacking post processing, that's probably the only negative about Twinmotion that I can think of as the filter effects are pretty trash and the UI is a bit unintuitive also I suppose, but second place definitely goes to Twinmotion hands down.

      I also brought TM 2020 & realized that it works in tutorials only 😂😂. It always behaves in very unexpected manner. Navigation is awful & when moving the scene up or down it moves with craziness. I failed to make REALISTIC scenes! But Wait!! Isn't theTM from a company called UNREAL 😂.

      Check your GPU brother. I think flickering could be because of it.
      Can't understand why grass is doing this? Also we need a tutorial about the best marriage between model and material .. otherwise all these tutorials are kind of wasting of time.

    The height map in custom materials seem to increase height my 1cm at most. It's not as well implemented yet, unlike Lumion and Enscape.
    Maybe that's why they did not even mention it in the 2021.1 trailers and webpage.
    Just a small footnote in the Release Notes text.
