I love that distance is such a relative thing in this movie. "How far apart do you want them?" "Can you make them 10ft, 20ft, and 100ft apart at the same time?" "Done."
I saw this movie on the day it came out in movie theaters. They were giving out buttons with the tagline "Think you're fast enough". Sharon stone was an absolute bad ass in this movie.
2:42 I think that if the duel had continued, Herod would have lost. Look how his hand trembled. He knew deep down that Kurt was faster than him, which is why he gave the order to kill him if he won
Not sure if Herod knew Cort knew about the click before the clock struck noon or not. And, yeah, after Cort 360-noscopes all of Herod's men, it seems pretty clear he's a prodigy.
The thing about most big screen villains is the fact that the audiences usually hate them which btw if an actor can make you hate them then that's great acting, but with Gene Hackman even playing the bad guy you still seem to love him!
His flawed "fairness" and "law and order" character attributes come out perfectly. I wish they would have hired different actors for Sharon Stone and Russel Crowe's parts. Maybe took the savings and hired a better writer.
When she fired her shots, her body went sideways, so even when the bullet hits her , she won't topple quickly, this enabled her to fire the second finishing shot .
One of the greatest death scenes ever… Looking down and seeing a hole in your shadow is just pure awesome. Then the scream before the flip is just “chefs kiss” Bravo
I almost forgot that Gary Sinise aka Mac Taylor from CSI New York played Sharon Stone's father in this movie. Kinda interesting how watching a certain film fills holes in your memories that may have been forgotten.
Why didn't the guy running away run behind the building? You can't tell exactly how far away he'd got but seems like he was at least level with it to be able to get behind it and out of the line of sight?
And where he was when got shot was pretty close from where he initially was. He could have been further, especially since he had 15 additional seconds because there is a total of 30 seconds between the time Herod said "now you got 15" and "time's up"
Now I wonder how they planted all the explosives without none of the henchmen noticing. Even Herod's house blew up, though he seems like the guy who would have 24/7 surveillance on his premises.
Well , Ratsy and Mennea are two different worlds ...he ran for 32 secs and , despite that , he was gunned down by Herod ? Couldn't he turn around a corner somewhere?
Never EVER tell special effects/explosives guy that you don't need the set anymore, their correct answer for much to use (when told this statement) will be; 'how big a mess do you want clean up?'
Really could have been great but they fucked it up. Yea Hackman has a bullet with daylight view through his chest (must be some bad ass ammo) then still stands then could see a bullet coming for his forehead?
That ridiculous flip at the second bullet was even worse. Great way to ruin via stupidity what could have otherwise been a good end to a passable movie.
You were taking this movie WAY too seriously. It's a comic book western the whole way through. If the goofy ending ruined it for you, you weren't paying attention to the rest of the intentionally cartoonish movie.
You can either appreciate the silliness, or you can miss the point. If you've made it to the end of the movie still missing the point... well that's your fault.
EN CIUDAD DE MEXICO SE QUEMO EL ROJO Y EL VERDE ES EL BEBITO Y MARIAN TE LO COMPRUEBO QUEDO EL AZUL AQUI EN GUADALAJARA INCLUIMOS EL AZUL QUEMADO SOLO QUEDA AMARILLO
Notice that Crowe's gun is on the right side in all the other scenes yet it's sticking in his belt on the left side in the final scene. And you never see Crowe draw . It's always after the fact and he's just holding the gun. He does a few gun spins and that's all. He was the same in 3:10 To Yuma. Crowe is no good in westerns.
PA SI NO ME QUIERE YA ME VOY RETIRANDO DE SU EMPORIO AMARILLO ME DECIAN QUE EL AMARILLO ERA INPOSIBLE DE VENCER SOLO SE PODIA VENCER EL ROJO VERDE AZUL CDMEX
What a disappointment. No showdown between Crowe and Hackman, having built up for it the entire movie. Even back then they had to ruin it by getting in hero chick instead. I bet that ending scene got added during the production. So Hollywood.
This was back when they made real strong female characters, complete with story-arcs, believable motivations and a hero's journey, as opposed to all the tiresome Mary-Sues that Hollywood churns out these days.
Earlier in the movie, the dinner scene between Herod and the Lady, he said ‘there’s nothing on this earth that frightens me now’. Yet here he is openly confessing to being scared of Cory - plot hole, sorry Hollywood
I love that distance is such a relative thing in this movie.
"How far apart do you want them?"
"Can you make them 10ft, 20ft, and 100ft apart at the same time?"

Quantum superposition... well-established scientific knowledge back then in the Far West
This is what made this movie so great
Very overlooked Sam Raimi movie.
Gene’s backflip is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen
Or the way he screams seeing the bullet flying towards him. 😂
@@doubles6508 the inner lex luthor came out of him 🤣
yeah lmao !
Yeah that part was pretty realistic wasn't it? Unreal they could market this crap
😂😂😂
I saw this movie on the day it came out in movie theaters. They were giving out buttons with the tagline "Think you're fast enough". Sharon stone was an absolute bad ass in this movie.
That final line, "Law's come back to town!" was actually delivered very well!
First bullet he was speechless
Second bullet he was flipp’n mad
Watched this the other day for the first time in 25 years, and it's just as fun, silly, and badass as I remembered.
Damn that revolver was loaded with some serious ammo
7:53 She screwed him so hard that he switched genres, bro 🤣

That rifle to the face at @4:26 could not have been any less convincing, has me in stitches every time
THE SOUNDS 😭🤣
It’s as bad as the unconvincing fights in Star Trek TOS
This movie had a crazy cast. Sharon Stone, Russell Crowe, Gene Hackman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Gary Sinise, Lance Henriksen, Keith David.
“You’re not fast enough for me!”
“Today I am…”
Cheesy Badass dialogue
Not cheesy- not at all. Her butchered father was guiding her hand- like Montoya's in The Princess Bride. Oh, you of little faith!
The thing about most big screen villains is the fact that the audiences usually hate them which btw if an actor can make you hate them then that's great acting, but with Gene Hackman even playing the bad guy you still seem to love him!
I love a villain with style.
If the WWE had The Undertaker, Hollywood had Gene Hackman. Guys who can play villain but are still loved.
He's having such a great time. This movie rules.
Gene Hackman is 90% of this movie he's having the time of his life
100 percent id say😂😂😂😂😂
His flawed "fairness" and "law and order" character attributes come out perfectly. I wish they would have hired different actors for Sharon Stone and Russel Crowe's parts. Maybe took the savings and hired a better writer.

8:23 Bartender: "Lady's the winner! Tomorrow, the next fight is the Lady vs Cort."
I totally heard his voice as I read that comment!
Love that there’s time to scream when the bullet still flies 😄
Love the music when Gene finally realizes who she is
When she fired her shots, her body went sideways, so even when the bullet hits her , she won't topple quickly, this enabled her to fire the second finishing shot .
Actually it was plot armor.
One of the greatest death scenes ever…

Good movie I can't believe I forgotten about it. I just finished watching it on Pluto tv.👍🏻💯 Sharon stone is sexy and great in this movie. 🤠
I love this movie.😄

Anyone can agree the preacher guy was the fastest one I think he might be even faster than the villain
You're right he was. We cannsee how fast he is when he kills the guards.
That's why no duel btw them. Even Herod knew he had no chance.
Love this film but the flashbacks are shown way too late
"The law has come back to town."
The saving grace of this cheesy movie is that ending actually made SENSE.
So she rides off with an untreated bullet wound. I guess she wasn’t concerned with bleeding out lol
Doctors were more lethal back then.
No woman is actually scared of bleeding out. They do it every month.
She got her revenge. Nothing else matters now.
The bleeding wasn't the real problem.. the infection is
Damn, didn't realize how far back woke movies went
I don’t even think a 500 S&W to the head would make some do a backflip like that. Would just turn their head to jelly and pink mist.
😐😐😐😐😐😐😐 Ya think?
That first guy should have dodged behind the building when he ran, instead of leaving a line of sight.
Especially that he got an extra 15 seconds.
YES! Same thing with the guy in the beginning. Why do they both run in a straight line when there is so much cover.
Great movie though
Ellen: "The boys are back in town..."
Cort: "I'll have what she's having."
*Roll credits*
Love this movie

Plot sacrafice.
That is a good final showdown.
Fun movie to watch!
I knew it would explode! Ever since i saw a single clip
Fitting end
Is there any way you could upload some action scenes from Best Of The Best, or Best Of The Best 2? Lots of thanks.
2.01 Cort is recording enemies positions like Robocop.
Lady put something in her gun for him to do a backflip
Though having no effect on her arm. 🤔 Hollywood physics.
Underrated movie ngl
Hackman never gave bad performance
He was even great as "Mr. Lou-thor".
Great shot with the sun in her eyes . Hollywood!
How did the sheriffs badge end up behind him when she threw it , it landed in front of gene Hackman
Isn't the marshall lieutenant Dan?
Ultimate bat flip Gene.
2:41. He really was scared. X)
amazing. close to 30 years ago. mortal life. best life.
This movie was ridiculous and over the top, but it was fun
Gotta admit, Hackman was great villain. Really made you hate him. Great actor.
Bro who told the director a revolver round to the head will make you do a back flip??
Thank God I never watched this movie. Never knew a 45LC can make you do a back flip.
While her arm is completely unaffected by such recoil.
Love a good Hollywood explosion 💥

Cort would have buried Herod six feet under.
So that would be most of the town dead from the blast then..
As if you could see that hole in your shadow - damn silly.
Saw this clip and wondered.. Why do i not remember how this ends, i know i saw it in the theater.. Ahh yeah.. The Gene Hackman backflip
Wait what that was way more than 20 seconds lol?
Almost a caricature of a western.
I wish the same people that made gladiator made this
And this female protagonist had a hero's journey, if only star wars did this
