Top hose is not a pulse hose its a vent , helps to compensate when the air filter become clogged it helps to regulate the movement of the metering diaphragm, the pulse line would be on the fuel pump diaphragm side…!
Great video I've tried putting new diaphragm kits in my stihl ts 400 carbs but cant get them too run right I've sprayed all holes but fuel coming out from air filter what am I doing wrong many thanks
You just saved my Stihl Ts410. Had an issue with my Stihl saw where it would start but only run for about 3 seconds then it would turn off on its own. Did exactly what you did, cleaned the carb, purchased a carb rebuild kit, cleaned THE FUEL PICKUP/ AIR VENT & all the fuel lines. My fuel pickup/ air vent was super crusty and the debris caused a bad seal, and that was my problem. So i basically cleaned my whole fuel system, put everything back together, tuned the carb at a standard setting of 1.5 turns out for both H & L set screws, now she runs like im her first owner. God bless your vid and thank you for showing us how its done🙏💯
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I actually started a small repair business because of this video. You changed my life and I will always be greatful to you. Best regards, Aaron from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Good video, very helpful, they are a great bit of kit, they are just as good as well with cutting steel as well, we use them for everything in demolition, cables, steels, concrete
I'm looking at buying a used one of these.. I see all posts are available fairly cheap. I think it may be worth it. Either this or a few more $$ for a ts800
Muy perfecto tu video algo bien te mereces 5 estrellas soy mexicano pero te entiendo perfectamente me ayudó mucho tu video que diga video tu experiencia es algo bien sigue así te seguiré todos tu videos.
If the engine surges at full throttle, typically you will turn the high jet “out”, counter clockwise. If it bogs at full throttle, smokes a lot, and doesn’t run “crisp”, turn the high jet in. Turn in 1/4 turn increments and see if it gets better or worse
My Carb also only has 1 adjustment screw for the low I am guessing. I thought it was missing one and I am about to order a new carb because I thought it fell off. I got this machine used BTW. The new carbs have a H and L adj. screw. Why is there only one on this one? Thanks
70soundwave Mine only has 1 screw too. I expected it to have both like I probably said in the video. I too, bought a Chinese carb, that has a H and L, but never used it. I am happy with how it runs with the OEM carb. If yours runs well on the OEM carb I wouldn't change it.
Hiya, I think it's because the newer saws have a rev limiter built into the coil so a Hi mixture adjustment isn't needed.. The older saws need the Hi adjustment to adjust the max revs..
Hi come across your video, mine struggles to start if I've got less than half a tank of fuel despite a new fuel filter and fuel line, any ideas please would be appreciated 👍
Great video. So, my saw has started refusing to start up. I’ve got spark, got a new plug in anyway. Air filter isn’t too old. So I’m guessing maybe the carb. But I didn’t see what was actually wrong with your carb? Did you establish what it was or are you just putting it down to needing a good clean?
I didn't physically see any blockages but that isn't too unusual for these small carbs. Its possible the needle was sticky or something else too. Good luck with yours!
I went out to the garage last night for some beers and thought I’d give the cord a quick pull for the hell of it. Heard it catch a little, flipped the choke to half and give it another and off it went! So I decided to not waste the opportunity and started splitting some bricks I needed! Don’t think the neighbours were too happy. Hopefully it will start later today too. Thanks for your reply, it was good luck for me 👍
I've put stihl ts 400 in ultrasonic cleaner rebuilt with new diaphragm kit but wont tick over I've turned tick over screw in as far goes what am I doing wrong carb is spotless do you change welsh plug
There was a joke from a comedian called Jethro who told a story about a guy who broke down and he asked the AA bloke what was wrong and the AA bloke answered oh yea err "Shit in the carb" and he answered "OH! right! how often do I have to do that then"

I agree with you! I pinned this comment so others can learn from it. Thanks!
That explains the extra pipe lol

That's incredible good for you! Thanks for the comment!
Love the accuracy of how many screw/bolts that get dropped
I find it entertaining someone else struggles with this as much as me.
Always love seeing you fix what you got instead of giving up!
Fantastic I will do the same to my used ts400 when I receive it.. thanks for sharing your informative video 👍👍👍👍👍

Yup! Love it I keep a metal blade in it most of the time
Solid video 👊🏼
T27, not T25. Yes, it will work sometimes, but it's also the perfect size to mess them up if they're seized a bit.
Awesome video.!! Thanks!
This is honestly such a classic. Had to revisit
Makes you wanna buy a demo saw doesn’t it?
@@spankranchgarage woulda made cutting that axle a whole lot easier!

What’s the part number for the metering diaphragm?
My cutters working but as soon as I start cutting it loses power any ideas on what it could be? Cheers
Best video out there. Gimme a day and I'll report back!
Your a king wish u could fix mine it starts and just bogs out

That beer will make it run better?
Nice job! well done, a good example of the American can do will do society!
Maybe someone can help I have a ts420 concrete saw it runs perfect until I pick it up to use it and then it turns off
👍🏼💪🏼👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻
Im curious how and if I'll know the carb needs adjusting?

mine was not starting so took off carb and cleaned and started fine, switched it off and now not start at all??
Was it turning over?
Se los recomiendo amantes de la construcción así como yo 100 y pasaditos
do u have a vid on this saw bogging down please mine doing it naw and dont no wats rong
I dont. But check your jet tuning and also inspect your fuel lines closely. Any leaks will draw in air and create a bog

Sometimes that means there is a pinhole in the fuel pickup line... but looks like you already replaced that. I am not too sure sorry!
@@spankranchgarage ill double check the pipe and grommet. Cheers for reply 👍
