- Lots of guitar players suffer from shaking hands at some point. Most of my students get them when trying to play something for me, and we've probably all dealt with it at some point or another. But the other week when Sandy reached out about customizing his guitar to work for a person who lives with a tremor, I realized I really don’t know much about what a tremor is at all. I learned a lot, and left the project feeling a renewed sense of why I do what I do.
Here is my creative solution for learning guitar with a tremor!

This is a wonderful story and I appreciate the uncompromising "Why". Thanks for sharing this. Very inspiring.
Thanks dude. Yeah absolutely one of my favorite repairs in a while.
Kyle, this is truly awesome. I love the solution and It is so wonderful seeing you and Sandy connect around his story. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Kaylyn! According to his teacher he’s been killing it since the mod too, so that’s just the best. Super grateful he had me take on the project.
That is just so cool that you helped make Sandy's playing easier for him.
And it looks great!! 👍🏼
It was so fun! Word from his teacher is he’s killing it since the mod too!
I'm missed an index finger from a childhood accident. Started playing early in life and now in my late 60s. Everyone had their opponents on how I should change my playing (Slide, left hand, etc. ) but it's different when it happens to you. So I looked for solutions in my life to compensate for the minor disability. Blessed to play for the pure enjoyment. Thanks for the video.
Good on ya man. Yep sometimes you just gotta dig yr own lane. Keep on it!!
Excellent work, Kyle! Sandy had his first lesson with his new rig today and it was AWESOME. This mod will have (has already had) a huge impact on his playing! Thank you!
No stopping him now!! Thanks Darin!!!
I have tremors. There’s a new procedure called Focused Ultrasound. It seared a point in the brain that controls the tremors. You can only have one hand done, so I picked my left hand because I strum and pick with the left. Now I can play again and I’m so happy.
Dude that's amazing!! Congrats dude.
Did I ever comment, "Never stop!"? Wonderful work you to. Sandy's Grandson will never stop as well. My own tremor is just a little "Pal" at the end of my left Pinky when I make D/F# A5 My friend (luthier) her locally has adjusted many of our guitars for just this same tremor. We are a community. Thanks Kyle, Sandy for this perfect episode. Sam
Thanks Sam! Yeah projects like these are so much more meaningful than the typical “I want lower action” request. Glad you got your people and glad you find something in these videos man. Just the best.
Your perspective and commentary resonate with the me I prefer to be. Thanks
Well hell, I’m glad you found the vid! Super inspiring project to say the least.
Your channel is so inspiring! Thank you for living in your calling
Appreciate you! Glad Sandy was down to share the story.
One of my fav UA-camrs. I grow more fond of you and your channel, Mister Orla. Like a brother from another mother; keep doing your thing!!. Love that this guy would share his story too.
Ah thanks dude!! Thanks for the encouragement and I’m just grateful folks are finding these! Especially this one.
I'm 21 years old and also already have a tremor. Still trying to learn playing sick songs on the guitar although it's really really hard. This man inspires me
You got this dude!!!
@@kostringworks thanks man
lovely story man! Keep em coming.
Thanks dude!!!!
There's nothing in my eye. There's something in your eye.
😭 all the way
This could be useful for me as I’ve really recently ended up with some kind of auto immune thing that has left my hands so weak and shaky. Keep trying to play but only in little spurts
Hey dude, that’s big news! If you ever need any info about detailed specifics for I did to this guitar just reach out on my website. I’d be more than happy to share!
How about putting the pickup cover between the bridge and the sound hole. Then the palm can rest on the cover and fingers are free to pick.
Something about the way his braced fingers stabilized his hand made this the optimal position. But could work for someone else I’m sure!
I’m going to try it. I use to have a Precision Bass and I rested my palm on it. Since I have right hand tremors I think that this will work for me.
