- Tears is a 1937 composition by Stéphane Grappelli, Django Reinhardt.
I am playing a 1948 Gibson TG-150 tenor guitar. The four strings are tuned (lo to hi) D, G, B, E - Chicago tuning. Flat-wound strings. Amplifier - The Bud by Henriksen.
Always love how you can make an instrument show and play it's best.
Thank you
Beautiful! What a fantastic tone on this guitar.
Thank you kindly!
First four bars and I knew that i was in for a treat. You really swing beautifully Gerald, and you have personalised the melody in your own way which is sweet and respectful to the original. Keep up the great work, best wishes from The Netherlands.
Thank you for your kind comments.
As always, smooth and tasteful!
Thanks again!
Awesome, Awesome,
Thanks 🤗
That's the same Tuning Tiny Grimes used & it makes a Jazzy sound.
Thanks
Yep. That’s real!🎼 🎶
Thanks John
Beautimus sir
Thanks
That was very sweet.
I've just bought an acoustic tenor guitar and I'm absolutely loving it. (Tuned GDAE for folkiness.)
I think I may very well go for a magnetic pickup rather than a transducer if I decide to make it pluginable based on how nice this sounded .
Very cool!
Would you mind telling us the gauge of each string you're using? Thanks
.32w .22w .16 .12
Very, very nice. I hope you are going give our ears some more tunes on that instrument Ross. Thanks.
More to come!
Beautiful. ❤ I’m switching to Chicago tuning on my tenors! 🎉
Thanks Jonathan.
a tutorial and/or break down of this would be AMAZING!
Thanks
Lovely playing and great instrument!
Thanks for listening
I feel a tutorial coming on! Please. Love that tenor.
Great! And thanks for showcasing the TG. We don’t get to see them often. Love the sound
More to come!
Do you have any tabs for this? Simply great playing and so hard to find good tab/transcriptions of this style of music for tenor guitar. TKS!
Sorry, no.
Woooooow! You're playing is spetacular!!! I have acoustic 1944 Martin 517T and 1962 Gibson tenor guitars but that antique Gibson electric tenor guitar sounds absolutely sweet!!
Thanks
It looks so easy and relaxed, when you play. Wonderful!
Smoke and mirrors. :) thanks.
So this tuning is the same as try he top four strings of a guitar?
Yes dgbe
Nice! I call it C Melody Guitar!😎😄
I play a tenor guitar in dgbe I write folky little pop songs but I can’t play like this not even close nice playing !

Great work Gerald. What a beautiful instrument. Outstanding sound and playing. Thank You for sharing.

What is the difference in a tenor guitar & baritone uke? I want one. Love your tuning & mellow sound.
Basically the same instrument. The Tenor guitar has a longer scale length.
Absolutely wonderful playing Gerald, such a nice feel & awesome tone. Are you using the Thomastik flatwound strings?😊
No. Using the D’Adarrio chromes
Great playing and such a gentle song! Nice to see you back!
Thanks Peter
May ask what strings you are using?
D’adarrio flat wound. Chromes
Beautiful! 🍀🎶👏🤗Thank you very much! Nice greetings from Germany🍁
Thank you very much!
Fabulous as usual. Tx for sharing. Reminds me of your European Covid retreat.
It does!
Sweet.
Thanks!
Great playing! As a fellow tenor guitar player, I’d love to know what you’re using for the pickup and amp/recording.
The standard P90 original on the guitar. A Henriksen Bud amp. No pedals or electronics
@@gbross you micd the amp with your K84?
@@gbross of course, the main reason it sounds good is due to your playing. Great job.
Yes, mic’ed the amp with K84
I feel relaxed now
Thank you
Super cool from The King of Swing

What a nice sound!
You need to get a tenor guitar Art. I’d love to see what you could do with it.
@@gbross Too big, hahaha! Does it have steel strings? Ouch! Your playing is fantastic.
Another vote for a tutorial, the song or even just some of your chord phrases. Beautifully done.
Thank you for watching.
