I started fly fishing in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1980 thanks to my awesome big brother and I would like to thank you talented youngmen for making these videos that are entertaining and absolutley spot on with advice, reasoning and value of all aspects of fly fishing. Thank you for drawing people to the waters to experience the joy of fly fishing.
great presentation.. like the way you explain why and the reasons and specifics.. cool sling pack.. own one already I'd opt for that one if I wanted another. still use mostly my Simms fly vest because I'm so use to it, but yes there are times and places too organize for sling pack option ty for sharing!
EXCELLENT video for us beginner/amateur guys. One odd question, Where do you get the black spool menders? I don't know the *technical* name...I'm referring to the elastic line keepers over the tippet spools. Thanks and have a great day!!
Are you sure you're not Kristoffer Polaha's little brother? All kidding (well maybe some of it) aside, I am an "intermediate" fly angler and wish I could have encountered these at the start of my journey a few years ago. But I love watching them anyway and if you are a beginner, just apply what you learn here by getting out on the water. No substitute for time spent wetting your feet and line!
I would like to orginize by hatch for my flies, but i honestly dont have enough (boxes or flies) to do that. I have been a bait and spinner angler for 20 years and just got into fly fishing within the last 2 so i honestly never payed attention to hatches beyond calling everything a "mayfly" Eventually I will know what comes off every stream, but for now i just keep them organized by wet and dry, similar looking patterns in ascending size. Makes enough sense to me. Im actually heading out this weekend to pick up a fly rod for my brother for his birthday and i will be pointing him towards some lf your starter packs. Certainly easier than fishing a flyrod out of a spin tackle vest with a flybox shoved in it and mooching tippet and flies.
@@venturesflyco Thank you, and thank you guys for putting out some stuff to help newer folks like us get a bearing. I think that's the hardest step, knowing what questions to ask in the first place
@@venturesflyco Thanks! I'm in my third foray into fly fishing but finally taking it somewhat serious. I take a class this weekend sponsored by the state and hope to refresh/correct things from the past. Next month I'll get started in tying flies and it looks like you guys will be a great asset for me. Thanks for taking the time to produce these videos, I hope you're getting rich doing it! 🤣🤣🤣
Don’t think you can go wrong with a sling pack. Got one when I first started. Now I use a chest pack because I don’t care a lot on the water, sense I got in to tenkara. Don’t think you can go wrong with sling pack.
I can PROMISE if you lads saw my packS (yes I have more than one) you would vomit dubbing and feathers! I spent 2 hours organizing my flies (I have tied around 1500) and in that time I didnt even make a dent in the mess... They are spread all over the place in around 11 boxes....and yes...I bring them every time I go =( My back hates me.
I just dropped my fly box in a river and lost all my flies today. Slipped out of my. Waders pocket. Feels great losing couple hundreds of dollars watching it float down the river faster than you can chase to disappear in the white rapids
@@venturesflyco yeah thanks.. appreciate hearing another story. it really did feel like a sick feeling. Still devastated. But I know I’ll need to get some sort of pack or vest from now on.

i recently moved near fairbanks, and i know this is a late response, but do you know of any locations that are good for beginners to go to learn?
Glad to hear how much prefrence plays a part.
Yes it does. Plays a big role in a lot of aspects of fly fishing. 😎🤙🏽
Outstanding video! Great instructions, even for those of us who can benefit from a refresher!
Appreciate the kind feedback! Plenty more coming your way. 😎🤙🏽

Awesome video, I didn't know about the tippet rubberband trick, thanks😊
Was hoping that helped at least one person. Haha Glad to know it was helpful! Appreciate it David. 👍🏽
Great insight into what I will need to work towards as I start my fly fishing journey. Thank you
Glad you found it helpful!

just got a 2 pocket waist pouch. with water bottle holder or in my case bear spray holder. I love it
Sounds like a effective pack! Nice work.
@@venturesflyco I had to hike 8 miles thru grizzly bear and mountain lion County. it was a very effective use for the pouch
Very good explaining. Keep up the good work. Just bought my first fly fishing rod and looking to go fishing at the end of the week
I’m so glad I came across your Chanel it’s amazing so much information for improving my flying fishing!!
Looking forward to more Content

Extremely helpful. Thanks!
Awesome! Glad you found it helpful.
Loving these videos thanks for the help 😂
Who makes those waders you are wearing?
Skwala Carbon Waders. 😎🤙🏽
Bro, ship to canada!!
What is that hip pack the brown one in the video?
My tippet band didn't come with holes and also add a bungee to the bottle holder on the bag. Ive almost lost my drinks from them coming out
Do you have jet packs?
what is the difference between tippet and leader?
We actually made a video all about that. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/aQI1JUt3Xb4/v-deo.html

Not trying to be a stalker just wondering.

Man… that’s terrible. I’ve had that happen as well. Sick feeling. So much hard work and memories in a fly box.

What do u need a pack for ? All u need is belly button lint and a stick
😂 Don’t forget the dental floss.
