I really liked the decor. Shawnasi, your face when trying the Biden burger looked like Kim’s. She tried a Biden burger once, and she did not like it at all. She couldn't eat it. She could only tolerate 1 bite. She said that it was very dry as well. Thanks for your honest review. We appreciate you truly sharing with us how you feel about your experiences. God bless you both, and congratulations on reaching 11K subs!! The Lord is continuing to bless and grow your channel because you use it to honor Him, and you produce and share great content.

Thank you for the congratulations. Yes, this restaurant is nice. Very beautiful.
I did have to read the comment twice, when it said "Biden burger". But hey, I guess that isn't too far off. Kind of dry and stale...LOL.

Love the honesty of your reviews. Keep it up! You nailed it as to why the burgers were the way they were. The "healthier" aspect of Bison brings with it the taste and texture problems. And, texture is a major component of taste. There was a lot on this menu which I would been tempted on. Yet another good review video. God Bless!

Yes, that's not the first time we've encountered this with bison. We've eaten a bison burger at the Garden of the Gods Cafe in Colorado Springs, that was really good. The other places, including Mountain Edge Grill in Gatlinburg, tend to serve up a dry bison burger.
It is due to the lower amount of fat, but I do wish that they had cooked it slightly less. I'm sure they do have other menu items that are excellent. I've heard they have a really good breakfast.

Just watched your trip to Cañon City, Colorado on our ROKU! Hi, my name is Angela from eastern North Carolina but live in Colorado now. I will be subscribing, commenting and will share some of your videos as well to help pay for that Royal Gorge trip. Me and my husband Paul know exactly what you mean. He is from Boise Idaho, but he has lived here for over 20 years now. I have been almost half of this state. I do miss NC, but here, there's So much to see and do. I hope y'all had the chance to visit Bishop's Castle....Helen Hunt Falls....and Garden Of The Gods. Any way, hope y'all have a Safe trip...have a Safe Blessed and Wonderful evening...❤😊❤😊❤

Hello, Angela. Thank you so very much for your kind words, and for subscribing. I was sort of kidding about asking people to watch the Royal Gorge video over and over, but I do appreciate your comments on that. I just hated that it was cut short by the bad weather.
What part of eastern North Carolina are you from? We live in the western part, just down the mountain from Boone. Just north of Hickory.
We do a lot of travels and videos in the Great Smoky Mountains, which we absolutely love. But we have been wanting to get back out to Colorado for many years.
My dad first took me out to Colorado when I was 12 years old. He graduated high school from Canon City, even though he is originally from Western North Carolina.
Thank you so much for watching, and for sharing that with us. We appreciate it.

I also forgot to mention that we did not get to see The Bishop's Castle or the Falls this trip, but we have been to Garden of the Gods on other trips. I wanted to do a video there as well this time, but we just could not fit it in. We had never been to Yellowstone or Grand Teton before, and we had to allot several days of our trip for that. And once we got back into Colorado for the last part of our trip, we were visiting with family out there. We had to miss Garden of the Gods this time, but we will catch it next trip.

@@NCMemoryMakers I am from Edgcombe County, Tarboro NC. It's 16 miles east of Rocky Mount...off of Hwy 64….I know y'all were kidding about the prices, but that is true. The price has gone up tremendously, and my husband agrees as well.

@@NCMemoryMakers Bishop's Castle is kind of hard to find. If you want any, I can get directions to Bishop's Castle next time y'all head this way. We live in Penrose, which is I think about 20 miles from Cañon City. We're like in between Cañon City and Pueblo. Penrose is a very small place and it's not incorporated. They don't want it to become incorporated, due to taxes and other issues....it kind of reminds me of Micro NC if you've ever been there (meaning the amount of people) but the size would be larger. Any way, I have videos and pictures on my Facebook page of a lot of places here in Colorado, and another one you may be interested in may be The Great Sand Dunes, if you haven't been there yet. So, if you want directions , I can give you some simple ones....not hard to find ...but on the way, you may loose signal but the scenery is So Amazingly Beautiful! You can't go wrong going, and the videos and pictures others you see here on UA-cam doesn't do it justice...hope you both have a Safe Blessed and Wonderful evening and trip. ♥️🤗👑💐👑🤗♥️

@@angeladerby2513 Not sure when we will be in CO again, but sure. Directions to something nice to see, would be good.
I know where Penrose is. Basically, right off of Highway 50. Been through there several times.
Interestingly, I had never heard of Micro, NC, even though it is in my state.
Just curious if you have ever tried that Mexican Restaurant in Canon City, that we ate at? El Caporal. We loved it.

I love the three bears, so cute. What does bison taste like?

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 місяців тому

@cathymcgee1674 Almost indistinguishable from hamburger, except that it's lower in fat and cholesterol, and tends to be a bit drier if overcooked. Otherwise, it's very, very similar.

My daughter and her husband fixed out deer hamburgers down at the beach on the grill, she mixed something in it that it taste just like hamburger. At first, I didn't want to eat it, because I kept seeing Bambi lol. You two have a wonderful week and I will wait for the next video. ❤❤😊

@@NCMemoryMakers If I remember correctly, I had fish. Trout, I believe. To be honest, I was not thrilled with the food but it was ok. The change in altitude, and I was dehydrated from hiking, so I remember the tea more than anything else! Thanks for all the hard work you two put in so I can make good decisions about the places we pick.

@carolchmielewski5313 Thank you for that information. I would not order seafood there, but I would have considered ordering trout, since that is something that they have close by. I would have thought that would be good.

I live in Wyoming.... I've eaten bison Burgers many times. They don't have as much fat in them as beef does. They need to be cooked longer at a lower temperature. Sometimes they'll be cooked with butter to add extra fat.

Where I live, there is a place called Gems Bison Farm. We bought Bison burger there, and the lady that runs the farm told us how to cook Bison. You put it on the grill when the blood comes up, flip it, and when that happens again, take it off. It's done.
Any more and you have shoe leather.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  7 місяців тому +1

I think that was probably very good advice.
Our first bison burger was at Garden Of the Gods Cafe, in Colorado Springs, back in 1995. I thought they did a really good job with it. So much so, that we ordered it again the next time we went back.
I think this place would have had a good bison burger, if they just didn't burn it to a crisp.

Sending each of you a warm greeting from Western, Pa.
The restaurant did have the rustic vibe but when I saw the bears, I thought about The Smoky Mountains as well.
I seen some appetizers on the menu that I never tried, like pork belly fries and others.
The first time I ever tried Bison Burgers, I was in Colorado.
I was apprehensive thinking it would taste gamey as I dislike deer no matter how people prepare it. I also think of Bambi, the movie.
Immediately when I saw the burger on the bun, it was way too charred and knew it was going to be extremely dry and difficult to swallow and enjoy.
I usually never complain but I probably would tell the sever and perhaps a new burger could be made the correct way.
The bottle of A-1 would be tilted totally upside down till it was empty.
I believe that I would feel disrespectful if I did not call you Pastor Derrick especially not personally knowing you.
Your fur babies are well traveled!
I would take my sweet old (14) pup with me. She gets anxiety when before I even walk out the front door.
What a beautiful trip you both experienced.
      Blessings upon each of you.

@CindyYr11 Thank you so much for your very kind words. You can just call me Derrick. Even though I am an ordained minister, I'm not currently pastoring a church, but I serve in a church under our pastor. I am perfectly happy with a first name basis.
Yes, that is one of the problems you can run into with a bison burger. The best one we have ever had, was at the Garden of the Gods Cafe, in Colorado Springs. We've eaten theirs a couple of times, but not on this trip.
This one was very dry and hard to eat. We hate to say that, but it is the truth. And we have to give the truth in our reviews.
Thank you so much for watching, and again, for your kind and encouraging words.
