Thank you very much for great knowledge you provide and improve the gas industry standard. As you know some gas center are money grabbing organisations not teaching enough. It's fake centers , advertising no prior experience needed what... excuse me. You talking gas engineering. I'm doing my 3rd reassessment. I paid for 4days reassessment. The teacher was their in day one just the went through just basic stuff. I was expecting at least couple days of teachings but guess what next day exams. I book refresher course thinking will go over the basic tops again. I'm glad I done my prep before going in. I just paid extra almost £500 for what. I really appreciate your great work keep it coming Sir...
Great explanations Derek. I have an Inset Fan Assisted Fire. (Verine Fanfare FPF16NV). The pilot is working and stays on but when you press Start Button for main burner, the Fan stratus up and pulses hight speed then low and keeps going for however you press the start button, at the same time the main gas to the burner does not flow so no moan burner ignition. I’ve checked the Airflow Sensor and both the Normally Closed and Normally Open contacts are working fine. it has two Solenoids below the burner (Assume for High and Low flame), the voltages to the solenoids are low - approx 150mV AC when start is pressed (no DC). I’m not sure what’s Normal voltage for a solenoid to operate ? Any ideas or suggestions ?
8:33 where you filpped over the burner i noticed instead of a 90 degree bend on the pipe (connecting tap to the burner), factory used an end bulgy cover which it let gas through like a 90 degree bend but since bending the pipe is easier i thought there might be a reason for the factory to use this method over just simply bending the pipe. I know it is not important may be just factory preferance thanks
Great video again. The hole in the solenoid valve at the end I’m guessing this helps keep the valve open properly along with the electric current from the solenoid itself? Without this hole would the valve possibly close if there was a drop in pressure elsewhere on the system for example another gas appliance being turned on? Sort of like how a regulator works.
Got a Widney radiant gas fire in my caravan but the wire has broke which connects the gas valve (contains spark generator) to the ignition electrode. Manufacturers instructions were not very helpful in specifying what part needed replacing. Any advice?
slenderman7676 Rblx if you take the part to your local spares centre they will be able to help you with replacement. They all have a computer system with all the spares for most gas appliances on it
You are not leaving the gas pipe unattended when servicing so no need to cap the gas pipe but if you were to leave it for any length of time you would have to cap the gas pipe
I have a pilot light that goes week when the fire is turned up to max. This is causing the thermocouple to shut the gas off. Iv cleaned out the pilot tube and assembly but hasn't fixed it. Fire works fine on medium just not on max.
You use a taper thread so it locks up and tightens before it gets to the end unlike a parallel thread which won’t. Hope that helps and thanks for watching cheers
@@tomkatgastraining thanks Derek. Also any good reason why gas needs to be pressurized to be burnt for heat in comparison to solid fuel is this something to do with appliance design? thanks in advance
@@tomkatgastraining could please enlighten a bit more on the what the small hole does at the center the diaphragm of the solenoid valve? Something to do with the pressure differential ? Many thanks
ilex Wang yep atmospheric sensing device and oxygen depletion system are flame supervision devices that take out the pilot light when there is a lack of oxygen or excessive co2
Cracking video. Amazing. Absolute legend. I proper buzz over your videos man. Question time 😬. When testing the ASD on the radiant gas fire, is it a two part test you must to do on the safety device? Is it fine to do one or the other or must you do both checks? What I understood is first you blow out the flame on the thermocouple and count the number of seconds. Secondly, you block the hole where the air comes in for combustion and the flame lifts off the thermocouple and you would count the number of seconds again??? Hope my question makes sense. Thanks Derek 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training
Just to say that I can't thank you enough. Thanks for the effort put in the training.
Made so easy to understand when sometimes the viper book is a little vague. Great video very thorough makes everything click in my head.
Thanks Derek

superb informative video once again from Derek.
without these vidios mate i would really struggle

Great video Derek & well explained, its always Good to watch your videos to refresh our memories and gain more knowledge always. 😁👌
Excellent video Derek.
Many thanks derek I have a good understanding of asd now and gas fires
Please keep doing these very good and easy to understand videos.Well done Derek.
a very good video to understand how the system works
Brilliant video, thanks Derek👍👍👍
Excellent tutorial , very well explained, thank you very much mate 👍💐
Thanks excellent video
8:36 ilfe gas pipe from gas tap to the burner where it bends towards the burner why it forms a reservior?and not a pipe bend
Sorry don’t know what you are asking

Absolute god send these videos, thank you very much !!
You are welcome 😁
Very informative Derek!
can you help me out the right side burner is burning brighter than the left side what do you think is wrong please ?
Great vid Derek 😁 well explained, helped a LOT with my training notes 👍 Aaron trainee

1Monaghan did I not explain what the hole is for ? yes it allows the pressure to equalise so the diaphragm will push up thanks for watching cheers
Thanks !
Brilliant explanation
Well explained cheers another top video. 👍

Interesting to see the powerflue fire at the end. Flavel by any chance? Top vid thanks for posting.
Hussain
No it's a Robinson gas fire
Any chance of a video on flue types and faults etc? Thanks
ross fox on with it👍🏻
Thanks Derek..
Would you just isolate the isolate valve or just cap the open end when moving fire out to service? Or would you not need to disconnect fire someyimes?
You are not leaving the gas pipe unattended when servicing so no need to cap the gas pipe but if you were to leave it for any length of time you would have to cap the gas pipe
@@tomkatgastraining so just isolate?
@@lostinthoughtscalminsilenc8167 yep
@@tomkatgastraining put temp bonds on?
@@lostinthoughtscalminsilenc8167 not when you are disconnecting an appliance

Sounds like it’s got the wrong injector, is it a natural gas fire or lpg?
Basket fire with no mis and no vent but passes all test is that ar or ID?
Can't confirm if needs 100cm2 vent as no mis.
AR no ventilation failing flue flow or spillage makes it ID
@Tomkat Gas Training Thank you Tom, your a life saver. I got worried. I did At risk it, but a friend said ID so got confused.
Great video
Can't you tell why we can only see blue flame in the bottom of the three white radiance ???
hey Derek. please help on why Gasfitting fitting are normally taped spread rather than straight thread? any good reason for this? thanks
