Just had an Anton pro 1 delivered from Hamiltons today, upgrading from my old Anton, this will be my third Anton at this stage. We're not in a race indeed, I'm certainly not, headin' for 70 and still installing/servicing/repairing boilers. A very informative vidoe. cheers mate.
Top tips from a top engineer! Fascinating video with features to please chemists, mathematicians and engineers. Love it! Learned so much. Thank you Derek!
I've only been qualified for about a month, I always refer to manufactures. I was taught be Anton and love it, but my employer uses the Kane. Great video, great reminder of carrying out combustion analysis. Thanks and keep up the great work, looking forward to Parts 2&3.
Thanks for your videos. I just study gas save engineer and through covid we didn't could learn so much as normal regards we where not allowed to go to college and my house move made it much more difficult to learn because I couldn't turn up to the online meetings. With your videos I can catch up very well. Thanks again
Excellent video Derek I understand it better now compared to 1 year ago when I watched it, After getting your training and watching your videos you making us professionals. Thanks 👍👍😀😁👌
These videos are absolutely brilliant, really well explained. Just going through my training now and these are invaluable to me. Thanks so much Derek keep them coming Mick
Hi Derek, another easily to understand video from your good self, just one little comment and that is at 14:25 you stated that the Co2 was 5.2 when in fact you meant O2. I’m not being picky but when you are producing educational videos which relate to the safety of the public, you must make sure that you are being 100% accurate with you descriptions as some students may remember this information and use it in the field. Apart from that keep up the good work, we need more people like you to educate the new coming engineers.
Peter Dashey thanks for your comment when I make the videos I just film them in one shoot , when I make a mistake and it’s not clear that I have then I will put a comment on the video. In this case it is quite clear I have made a mistake but thanks again for your comment and watching the video cheers
Another great video, a lot of important and very useful information. I'll have to watch this video a few times for it to settle in the mind best way to understand the procedure. Excellent.. 👍👍 Tomkat gas trainee.
Thank you for your instructional video’s, your explanations are always easy to understand and very thorough, I am a gas safe engineer but mainly fit cookers, hobs and fires/removal of, do you do a short course where I can brush up on the carrying out landlord certifications ?.
Hi Derek, great video as always. How do you keep the boiler running at maximum rate long enough to adjust the CO2 without it reaching temp or modulating.
Brilliant video. You made it very easy to follow and understand for us beginners. Great tip at the end about doing the sweep test last and we’ll never forget to close the sample test point! Definitely going to take up that advice. From the top of your head can you recall the common boilers that have a chimney sweep mode? Thanks very much Derek 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training
All new boilers have to go into max and min now Jon and a lot of the older condensing boilers will still have a way of doing it for flue gas analysing 👍🏻
have been watching your channel for a long time, I have baxi solo 2 pf the overheat lamp lights up and he does not want to turn on thanks for any help, pump ok work.
Small but important point. The analyser should never be placed on the boiler case when taking full combustion test. Flue gas temperature. Gross minus ambient = net. By placing the analyser on case distorts the ambient temperature due to analyser measuring the case temperature instead of room ambient temperature.
Hi, where can the bluelyzer be purchased from? the website has no shop or prices. It’s almost as though they don’t want to sell them. Keep up the good work.
Hi . I’m currently doing my ACS , I just want ask , what happened in situations where I cannot use the analyser because the flue point is inaccessible due wood frame or tight cupboard space ?? How you dealing with this situation? ID or AR ?? 🤔🤔thanks
Where in the regs does it say about condensing boiler being 0.004 and a non condensing being 0.008? I thought it was 0.004 for all appliances and 0.008 was a British Gas procedure applying to a boiler that's just been serviced.
Bs 7967 2015 gives the results on using a flue gas analyser. All appliances could have different readings most analyser come with a card with the results if you watch all my videos on using an analyser you will see the card
Great video. Can you do this test with the boiler casing off? I’ve seen comments saying it affects the test and causes oxygen to be taken from the room or is this nonsense? Maybe they mean with the combustion chamber open rather than the case or are all boilers different?
1Monaghan the manufacturer’s tell you 2 readings a lot of the time one with and without the case . So yes it can make a difference but you couldn’t adjust a zero gas valve without the cover off . You definitely can’t do flue integrity with the cover off that would be effected. Hope that help and thanks for watching cheers
Had so many troubles with kane I've got 2 machines and from new nothing but troubles . This afternoon got to buy a new one as both machines can't be trusted.
If the co2 is high and it takes the ratio over tolerance that would be classed as AR not NCS. You can try and adjust the zero governor gas vale as long as it’s your last hope after a full strip down service.
@@Luke-yy1fq it’s the ratio that comes under unsafe situations not the co2. And yes most engineers won’t try and adjust if the ratio is ok because the heat exchanger will need cleaning if the co2 is incorrect.
Do you find the tube from the probe on anton analysers becomes stiff over time? Mine is really rigid but I'm not sure if a new one will be any different...
I’m looking at buying the Kane 458s cpa1 kit. I don’t think this FGA comes with an o2 measurement standard though and you need to pay an extra £450 for it do you think it’s better going for a different FGA because of this?
I prefer do flue integrity test before doing hi and low Combustion tests as the analyser has been freshly purged. Doing it the way in the video the analyser sensors are not clear from Combustion and more likely to miss any small co in the inlet flue.
HPE Heating and plumbing Engineer the analyser was purged back to zero and the o2 was at 20.9 so and the co doesn’t count in the integrity it’s the co2 and 02 . Thanks for watching and your comment cheers 👍🏻
@@tomkatgastraining it makes it quicker to do the job doing the imtegrity first. As for co in the outer flue does matter as it shows the inner flue may be split or a whole in it.
There are no results for co in any of the standards it only says about co2 of less than or equal to 0.2 and the o2 equal to or greater than 20.5 . I have found flues with holes in that read perfectly also but normally we get a very rusty boiler if the flue has gone lol . Thanks for your input it’s always a pleasure to talk to fellow engineers cheers
@@Heatingandplumbing1 really doesn't matter which way around you do the flue integrity test as long as it's done. I prefer like most to do this 1st but many others do integrity after (mixed opinions). 😊
I’m renewing my gas certs, I’ve been out of the gas industry for around 3 years, all of your information is on point and easy to understand 👍🏻

You are the first person I have seen do a sweep test
This was an incredible teaching experience. I missed this section on the course I’m attending so this has bridged the gap. Thank you so much.
By far the best channel out there. Great video!
This the best I have seen on FGA
These videos are absolutely brilliant, really well explained. Just going through my training now and these are invaluable to me. Thanks so much Derek keep them coming

Thank you Derek. Great teacher good at explaining and simplifying things
Thanks Derek for brilliant video, Explained in very details. Bilal M tomkat trainee.
The boiler might get to temperature within the 15 mins . It can be a pain .

Some boilers allow you to put the hot tap on but not all
another brilliant lesson 👍
Very goog derek well done.
Thanks again all good Deggsy.
Great video. Just one question. Why bother with a flue integrity test with the boiler on min fire?
Really enjoy all the videos' there's always something new to learn when you're doing gas. Love Tom's sense of humour .

Hi Derek great video ….will you always get some measure of CO in flue integrity checks ? I take it anything higher than 5 is a problem

Whitch O2 and CO sensors applicable for Kane 400 or Kane 940 anyzers? Many thanks
Hello, why low CO reading when there is low efficiency? CO is practically unburned fuel. Why noncondensing boiler have low CO readings?
Amazing

Hey, thanks for good videos full of new knowledge, does this analyser show the results of CO or CO2 on weight basis or molar basis?
co in ppm. co2 as percentage volume
great video really helped me out wish i found you earlier
Hi Derek, Is the co2 spec for this boiler not 10.0% +or Minus 0.2 ? you are at 9.1
Do you have anything on fga testing on a gas cooker
What CO ppm is permitted during a sweep test?
Thank you
What causes a highly efficient appliance to produce more CO than a less efficient appliance, given that CO is a product of incomplete combustion?
Because condensing boilers are not atmospheric and they use the fan to suck the gas in they produce incomplete combustion so more co is produced
Great video. Can you do this test with the boiler casing off? I’ve seen comments saying it affects the test and causes oxygen to be taken from the room or is this nonsense? Maybe they mean with the combustion chamber open rather than the case or are all boilers different?

Why does a more efficient boiler give a higher CO reading?
Because they are forced draft burners with no post air
Had so many troubles with kane
I've got 2 machines and from new nothing but troubles .
This afternoon got to buy a new one as both machines can't be trusted.
Great video. I've not yet to get any 02 Readings of less than 20.9 anywhere . However did you get 20.6 ? Thx
wave it around the room where you have an open flue appliance. or if your flue discharges into an alley way or something, go check out the ambient air
10/9=1.11/10000 is it 0.00011 or 0.0011,anyway great video,best tutor
Derek what if a reading of CO2 was higher than allowed tollerance in MI
An engineer told me if can't adjust just note as NCS
If the co2 is high and it takes the ratio over tolerance that would be classed as AR not NCS. You can try and adjust the zero governor gas vale as long as it’s your last hope after a full strip down service.
@@tomkatgastraining no the ratio is fine under 0.004 just high co2 over mi Derek. Got told it's NCS in future

I've recently got some new service / report pads one box asks for CO% would you get this on a flue sample test?
Is it asking for a room co % or with a ratio
Tomkat Gas Training
I presume it’s room CO % as there is a separate box for ratio, ppm, & CO2% etc.
Flueless appliance - how do you find ratio?
Not sure what you are asking
Hi Derek a reading of 0.0022 is usually high on a new boiler?
No it’s not you can have up to 0.004
👍👍
Hello thanks for video I’m in weeks 3 gas training course and I’ll believe you are the number ☝️
Do you find the tube from the probe on anton analysers becomes stiff over time? Mine is really rigid but I'm not sure if a new one will be any different...
Come to think about it yes they all go very rigid it’s not just Anton
Great lesson - only undermined by the incessant background music which is unnecessary and distracting
Is there any point in the NOx reading when doing domestic flue gas analysis?
Nope
I’m looking at buying the Kane 458s cpa1 kit.
I don’t think this FGA comes with an o2 measurement standard though and you need to pay an extra £450 for it do you think it’s better going for a different FGA because of this?

No they haven’t 🤔
