Wow, extremely inspiring. Great job at showing just how well thought out the MicroFreak is. It is quite the capable synth!
Thanks, glad you find it inspiring ! It's a little box but very wild indeed !
Really helpful!! It would be amazing more videos like this 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thank you!!
noted, other people have requested so I will probably do more in the future
Thank you! So helpful and easy to understand! :) I was unsure about my Microfreak because I wasn't sure about writing my own patches but this has just given me the knowledge and confidence to jump in 🙏🏻😎
check I have another video where I share the 30 tips with the microfreak, that might give you some inspireation
Splendid video -- inspiring information! You're obviously a MicroFreak master! Thank you.

This is gold!🤩
More of these Videos s’il te plais!
Sold my microfreak but this works on any versatile synth 😃
thanks mate, yeah of course it can be apply to wavetable or any other ..
Do you think a mopho keys or a minitaur are versatile synths? Why did you sold it? I hated when it was released but I'm slowly hyped, seems was made for techno
@@marcosrotllan just got one because a friend has one and i fell in love haha xD what a fun machine!
this is (maybe) one of the best tutorial videos, I´ve seen!!! yeeeeeah man!! funny, stright to the point, interesant tips, no bullshit, thannnnks a lot!!
Thanks mate, glad you liked it

Illuminating tutorial, again. Many thanks.
Thanks mate, glad you liked it !
Really inspiring and helpful. Thanks bro!
thanks mate, glad you liked it !
Nice insight!
Thanks mate !
Wow that's super helpful and instructive. You manage to make it look simple for people who are not familiar with modular synthesis. Looking forward to see more
thanks mate I appreciate !
It’s not a modular synth. Do you mean FM synthesis? Frequency Modulation? Modular synths are just synths that don’t have a fixed architecture meaning you can route the signals (audio and control voltage/midi) through any number of modules be they amps, filters, effects in any number of configurations depending on the modules you have.
Glad to see that you are also a Microfreak heavy user! I hope that they will release a larger version of the synth with Polyphony, second filter and a real Keyboard.
yeah I actually didn't bought it first because I was waiting for a Minifreak or Matrixfreak to be release but never came out so... Yeah I like how you can quickly came out with something !
Cheers. I've made at lest 10 new sounds following the video. This synth is really sick.
haha happy to hear that, yeah it's a super synth with a lot of update, since this video new oscillators and functions are available... crazy good
nice presets! I'm going to try it on my Microfreak :)
Have fun!
Thank you so much! 👍👏
You're welcome!
All you need is Live (and a microfreak) :) Great work again mate!!!
Thanks mate, yeah now the channel talk a bit more about gear hahahaa
Keep these MicroFreak videos coming!
I will do another one later this year
@@audioreakt Hell yeah, thank you!
Indeed. Great stuff
Hey... allways great Tutorial ;-) Thx ;-)
Haha thanks mate !
Super explication bravo. Merci beaucoup. Muito obrigado
Avec plaisir !
Very very kool ;) plz more! THX :)))
listen many people reclaim more, so I will !
Thank you so much 👍👍👍👍👍🎛🎹🎶🎧
you're welcome!
You've helped me with so much progression in abelton 10 so now that I have a microfreak, all suggestions and tips from you that contribute to my microfreak patches will be imortalised in my microfreak as AynilisAwesome*insert number* :D
Hell I don't have that much space for the name on mine hahaha ! Glad I could help, and thanks for your kind words !
@@audioreakt yeah I ended up settling as Aynil1 after I realised that haha 🤷♂️
I finally completed my endeavour to save these patches as I said I would. You can save them with quite a few characters and if anyone steals or inherets my synth, they'll probably end up at your channel haha. Now I will figure out how to sync it with ableton live to play them live with a few techno drum racks I've got saved. I bought the cheap umc22 to hook it up to my computer with and it really doesn't wanna work. I'm two weeks in to trying.
"Maybe if I add a bit of rumble" ......earthquake! Great techno sounds 🖤
Haha thank you !
Best tutorial....
Please make more techno pattern
thanks, I will as other have request too
first of all: your intro music is sick! second, i want a microfreak now. i dont have an OP1 but it seems a bit similar in the feel
Thanks, yeah it's a great synth
This is so sick! Up until this video I thought the Microfreak was mainly for retro sounding 'buzzy' synth noises.
If I want to get into electornic music 'playing' (not production with a DAW) as a beginner, would you recommend I start with this before the Digitakt? I primarily want to try and make Techno/House/IDM. I'm looking for one 'standalone toy' to buy for now, and If I'm into it, buy more to compliment. Thanks!
Thanks, yeah digitakt is a great sampler apprantly (never had one) you have the octatrack for deeper sampling or the analog rytm for synthesizing your own drums . If you want more a groove box that does synth and drums check the MC 707... Anyway so many possibility
I love this video!!!!! I just got my microfreak and I’m a beginner. What’s the easiest way to start from scratch to create a new patch? Seems like I’m stuck in the presets that Arturia have already loaded onto my MF.
Well the best way is to start with an unit preset, play with the osc tone first and then shape the sound with the filter and enveloppe
Whouaw !
Thanks !
Great tutorial, I’m seriously thinking of getting a microfreak. What effects unit are you using?
The effects unit would be great to know.
Thanks, that's a great synth tbh! I used a rack of mine : ua-cam.com/video/lufIFsejzXk/v-deo.html
Finally, a normal-sized display was made on Microfreak ;)
Hahah magic of editing
Noise engineering on board! :)
Yeah I've heard about haha !
Absolutely amazing, very nice patches. When those presets will be available for free as mentioned?
thanks, shoot I forgot to put them, I record the video months ago and forgot about the free preset, I will upload it later today !
All sorted, link is in the description ;)
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks !
Just bought mine yesterday, perfect timing! Would you be able to tell me the parameters for syncing the Microfreak with Ableton's tempo? I can't seem to get it to line-up with the grid.
Here : ua-cam.com/video/-Cxc1PyOWjQ/v-deo.html . i show wityh the micnibrute 2s but it's exactly the same
@@audioreakt thank you!
No problem !
Good shit
Thnaks mate !
Quick question for the OP. Which scale did you use for the first patch?
I don't know tbh, more like a chromatic scale, but I do tshow which note I am playing..
Very great job, thank you for sharing. I want more tuto like this on this synth for pad, sfx me too.
Thanks I will see maybe I will do more in the future
17:33 This rumble is huge ! Did you make a video where you made it ?
here : ua-cam.com/video/XWBU4NxPRwU/v-deo.html
@@audioreakt héhé cool, thanks man :)
You did perfect justice to a perfect synth
The MF is a treasure trove waiting to be exploited and you did some of that in your amazing video
Super work and thank you for inspiring so many.
Yes the Mini is out and is even better but the Micro has its own charm personality and character
Admittedly the MF looks swankier 🤪
thanks, yes to be honest I don't think I would exchange my microfreak for a mini one, I love the compact size and the direct access to everything of the microfreak. the fact that on the minifreak you have the same knobs for two oscillator and have to press a button to switch to edit the oscillator was a big turnoff, the big keayboard is useless for me too...
My mopho keys is jealous about that microfreak
haha nice one !
Thinking seriously about the stellar edition. That bass fm modulated drives me crazy.
Simon The Magpie, IS THAT YOU?!
haha no I am Paul
What reverb did you use ?
I used an Ableton audio effect rack, check in the description " rack used in the video "
Do you know how to sync the microfreak to Ableton's tempo and midi control via usb? I keep thinking I've done it correctly, but I don't think I have.
So I figured out a bit more. What was throwing me off was the arpeggiator and having the local control set to “off”. The arpeggiator only works when you push “play” in ableton. With local mode “off” the microfreak’s track must be selected and armed for recording in order to physically adjust anything on the unit.
yeah that true for all hardware synth with arp/seq sync to ableton. You can't use the internal seq/arp of the hardware if ableton is not playing. It's such a shame but it's like that...
hi, i'm a beginner in this field... can you do all that just with this synth? in fact you can have fun doing kicks ect. it looks like you have a drum machine and a synth at the same time. this is crazy....thank you for your video
you're welcome , check this one too : ua-cam.com/video/ba9n_iVo_LQ/v-deo.html
@@audioreakt thank u sir
@@audioreakt thanks mate
Hi Paul, friendly reminder: V3.0 is out!
Thanks Martin, I saw it but didn't have time to update it ! Did you try it ? How are this new oscillator ?
@@audioreakt It´s actually three of them! Totally worth it and another expansion of an already great synth.
Yeah the few video I've seen looks very promising ! It's crazy for the price they sell it, how much it can do...
i have actually been debating getting one of these or the microbrute 2s. would you have any input since you have both?
arf tough one...I don't know to be honest, let's say the minibrute 2s sound more raw/analog rather than the microfreak it's more digital. But the range of sound you can create is wider with the microfreak than minibrute,. The matrix modulation is more fun on the minibrute because you can manually patch rather than micorfreak you have a single knob, but you can save preset with microfreak and can't with minibrute 2s. Both way of sequencing are interesting, with the minibrute 2s you can sequence with selecting step and turning knob for tuning rather than microfreak you select the note you want straight away on the keyboard (you can do the same way with minibrute too though). The microfreak have a bit more noise on output than the minibrute 2s, that can be something annoying as well that is worth to know. I can make a video maybe one day...
@@audioreakt thanks for the reply and your videos are amazing. the best on youtube for me!!!
@@retrodakid1 thanks mate, I appreciate
push the HOLD button! xD
what ?
i see you are holding down a key...when you could just use the HOLD function on the microfreak and it keeps holding the note you pushed...you don't know this? :D
Why did I sell it 🙈
haha sorry
It gives me headaches! Am i the only one? Not because its too complicated or anything, my head just feel a kind of slight pain when i play it... And i've been playing mutiple synths through headphone or speakers and usually i've got no problem.
🤷🏻♂️
