It's too damn convoluted, I've been a fan since the start and when time travel was introduced it feels like a cop out. I once thought they'd just have terras fate be his armor forever as his punishment for his "crimes" like an alphonse elric sort of deal. But no the body and heart reunite after being defeated. I thought xemnas would turn back into terra since he favored him like ansem sod did xehanort down to his curiosity. Also wanted to see him with long hair, they did it with riku xD
After the voice performance from Terra in bbs, the amount of bone chilling rage behind those first lines is straight up badass. Then he hits every emotional beat in the reunion his voice even cracks goddamn this is such a glow up in talent
Truthfully, I think all of them are capable of being solid voice actors. I mean, if you listen to some of Haley Joel Osment’s other voice work, he sounds fine. Apparently the voice actor for young Xehanort said they don’t get much direction when doing the scenes, so my guess is that it’s on Square Enix.
@@oldspice051 Definitely, look at David Gallagher’s performance as Riku in any KH game then look at 3. The voice direction in KH3 was clearly abysmal and I don’t know how it got passed through, thankfully the voice director got replaced in MoM though, and Riku already sounded solid again
That part where terra rips off the face covering to talk gives me goosebumps every time. He’s had to watch xehanort in his body destroy worlds for yrs, & break apart so many ppl’s lives. He’s felt like it was his fault for it all & couldn’t do anything but watch. “One day I will set this right”. That guilt is probably crazy
Sometimes I don’t really cry when it’s these kinds of reunions in Kingdom Hearts, but it does look emotional, i’ve reacted a different video, and it’ll be uploaded when it’s finished.
I wonder what was going through Sora's mind when he saw this. Remember, he first saw the Guardian (or whatever it's apparently called) back on the ruins of his homeworld. Having emerged from the body that used to be Riku's. And then he fought it when it was a giant demonic spaceship. And suddenly now, it just rescued Aqua and Ven and turned on its master. All that time, he'd been fighting one of the lost Keyblade wielders, or rather, it was being forced to fight him via Ansem. He quickly put two and two together fast enough to react to give Terra the opening to take his body back.
Honestly as much as I loved this, it would have been more fitting for Riku to be the one to help out save Terra. Since Terra was the one who bestowed Riku his Keyblade.

@@dizralph.c I had more prior attachment to Roxas & co. but I will readily admit that his return felt contrived and something about it just felt off. On the other hand I cared far less about Terra, Aqua and Ven, but I consider this scene to be better because it doesn't rely on a bunch of minor characters doing something off screen. I only got into Kingdom Hearts like two years ago and was mostly concerned with trying to watch all the cutscene movies before 3 came out so I never heard the theory about Terra being the Guardian. When he grabbed Aqua and Ven, I was almost certain that this was part of Xehanort's plan but then he just put them down and turned back to Xehanort and started trying to pull the thing off his face and by that point I had figured out what was going on. No one had to tell me. He didn't have to explain that Eraqus did blah blah blah and then Aqua did yada yada yada like Roxas did. The Roxas scene was still great and emotional, it just had to justify its own existence to the audience before being great and emotional. This didn't have to do that because it all happened on screen for us to see and it all followed some kind of logical progression. Seeing this character I felt neutral towards overpowering this guy not because some scientists helped him but because he wanted to help his friends actually made me like all the members of the trio more than I did before watching it, whereas watching Roxas, Xion and Lea all be reunited made me care less somehow because now their problems are fixed and they get to be happy. The ideal outcome of them being together is now the status quo, and as long as that stays unchanged I'm satisfied. But with Terra, Aqua and Ven, the status quo is and always was them being happy together, while the ideal outcome is now each one working through their own issues. Aqua has to step up as a Master, Ven has to navigate the clusterfudge that is Union Cross and Terra has to... Okay, Terra's kind of done his character arc but that keeps going until his reunion with Eraqus at the end of the game, it doesn't end here. This scene isn't the ideal, emotional end of a journey, like Roxas' return, it's an ideal, emotional step along the way, the same way the Roxas boss fight in 2 is, or the end of Days, or Riku telling Ansem to go bugger off in Chain of Memories, or Sora sacrificing himself to save Kairi, or Aqua renewing her resolve at the end of A Fragmentary Passage, or Ventus and Vanitas becoming whole, or Axel sacrificing himself in 2.
I love how the fans knew for years that guardian was always terra i think the scene in ddd when he reached out to riku was a clean giveaway and it makes sense ansem was xehanorts heartless why did he have another heartless tied to him unless it was terra’s heart i just live how nomura has thought of all this since the first game replaying the franchise has such a deeper meaning knowing certain things now
3:23 Thanks to Re:Mind, now we know why the Guardian acted on its own to save Aqua and Ventus. The destruction of Lingering Will's physical form by Terra-Xehanort unknowingly reunite it with Terra's heart, thus giving it the sufficient strength to assert control over the Guardian.
@@redshadow4146 long story short he was basically cryo frozen pre xehanort. He’s been a keyblader since before Terra and aqua were ten generations away from being born
The culmination of our hopes and dreams for 17 years(9 if you just count the BbS trio), all finally coming to a head. For years we thought we would never see the ending and that the characters we grew so dear to would forever be lost. Our hearts truly leaped at triumphant joy when we saw this!

Still one of the most tearjerking reunion in the Kingdom Hearts 3. Sea Salt Trio's reunion is pretty tearjerking as well, but the Wayfinder Trio takes the cake for me because I'm very fond of them (spent almost 24/7 playing BbS back in the day).
the way Terra reclaims his body also resembles the way Xehanort took over his body. sending out his heart and his (Heartless) body disappearing into darkness
I thought that was a nice attention to detail how when you see Aqua and Terra cry at 5:26 and 5:40 respectively, you see some redness in their eyes as, true to life, the blood vessels in your eyes are affected when you cry.
The lingering will was destroyed by this time, it is probably what Terra needed to gain control of the guardian holding his heart by releasing his mind
Thinks to Riku's fight with Ansem in DDD when the guardian reached out to him and Riku showed it the keyblade as if to say "i fight for the light". At the time I thought it was just Ansem making some last minute effort to get to Riku, but it was probably Terra asking for help. It was Terra all this effing time.
nomura said LW disappeared when terra returned. however, it may come back when conditions are right. I hope nomura takes that as an opportunity to make LW terra's last obstacle to become a master. partly because I prefer ends of the earth > earthshaker.

"Wrong, your gonna get shown the door old man." Terra (BBS black points) Edit- I really loved how Terras quotes at the end of BBS came full circle. My only wish was that we should have got an interaction between Terra and Riku later on especially with Terra talking to Riku about he found the strength to protect what matters.
I'm not really a Kingdom Hearts kinda guy. 358/2 days was my only game; that might've had something to do with it. But this... "One day, I will set this right." A voice, rusty from disuse, still forced to its limits so it may declare its side. A friend so loyal, his will endured beyond all else. And a reunion so powerful it drove passive observers to actually LOVE this guy. This scene, man... this scene.
I want to point something out about the guardian. The guardian never fights back in any of his appearances, he's always subservient in all the previous games, always following orders... until now. Why didn't he fight back? It's because the guardian had no will. It's only now, when lingering will is destroyed, that he regains his will and fights back
Im so iffy about kh3's story, as well as BBS, but the scene where Terra comes back gave me a massive appreciation for his theme. I never paid attention to it before, but hearing it start as that heartless thing came from Terranort i was like "wait WAIT THATS FUCKING TERRA" and it was so fucking hyped up i stg. Like, i began to notice the lingering will melodies in Terras theme, and when he began to repeat his last words after Xehanorts defeat and his mind being split into the lingering will, god Terra is so much cooler than I ever thought. I dont like this games story but it made me like the BBS cast more.

I cried at like every moment the Keyblade Graveyard had, but this. This here. This moment was so powerful I was just sitting there swing while tears ran down my face.
Even though I saw it back in BBS that Xehanort unleashed that Dark Guardian that Ansem Seeker of Darkness later uses, I never knew that was what became of Terra. All the good left in Terra remained in his armor, that contained his mind. But it was his Heart that was trapped in this creature.
This scene at the end makes cry of tears of joy and, I would proudly say welcome back Terra we’ve miss you hero we all have right guys it’s so great and warm to have him back right guys.
What an amazing trick really anytime Xehanort needed some kind of bodyguard or Terra got in the way all he would have to do is push his heart out of the body and in shroud him in darkness and instantly he would have his own heartless guardian.
If when fighting the shadow-Terra somone had told me *the guardian in reality is a prisioner of Ansem thus why he has his mouth gaged so he can not call for help* I would have told him that the gag was just something the designer thought to make it look more menacing man I'm glad this conversation never took place
RyverLoire if you don’t tear up for the “Wayfinder trio” then you will tear up with the “358/2 crew”. And if you don’t tear up at either, then you are a Heartless.
I confess I thought that Terra was lost forever that all that would be left of him would be his 'Lingering will' as a reminder of what could have been. That his body would be destroyed to kill Xehanort that all we would get to see would be (his heart-spirit) to bid farewell to Aqua and Ventus. Boy I tell you I've never been so happy to be wrong. ( well except when Xion was revealed I thought she was lost forever too)

I was so sad when i finished Birth by Sleep and this just felt so good to see after freaking years waiting to see them all return. Aqua and Terra have to by by far my favorite characters in KH besides Roxas.
Even before I saw this scene I always knew in the back of mind mind that there was something more to the Guardian heartless. I knew it had something to do with Terra. There have only been 3 instances in this series where a Heartless has acted with a will of their own instead of acting on a primal instinct.
Ahhh, it's nice to see that theory of the Guardian being Terra was right. And then that epic (You no longer control me, and no one EVER hurts my friends you bastard!) look at 3:20 and then breaks the chains.
So many questions. First, isn't Ansem supposed to be Xehanort's heartless? And on that matter, wouldn't Xemnas be Terra's Nobody? So, while I can accept that Terra (as the Guardian) is kind of stuck with Xehanort, why is "Ansem" treated like his own individual being from Xehanort when he is supposed to BE Xehanort? And why is Xemnas treated as an incarnation of him, rather than what was left of Terra? And don't even get me started on Roxas, Sora, and Venitus. That's just a right mess.
i believe the Guardian its actually Terra's hearthless, and the Lingering Will his nobody possesing the armor since the empty body was taken by xehanort. what happened here was Terra's heart getting control over his heartless. when Terranort defeated the lingering will (we asume since it wasnt showed but he is here) he released the nobody, and Terra here released his heart from his heartless himself, all he needed was to cast away Xehanort heart from his body, wich Sora did
The guardian is Terra heart. LW is not his nobody, because it's litterally just his armor possessed by his consciousness. Fake Ansem is Xehanort heartless and being an heartless, he got to control the guardian. Xemnas also is Xehanort nobody.
@@gogglesveemon5551 I know the Guardian is Terra's heartless. My questions were "why is Ansem treated as individual from Xehanort" and "shouldn't Xemnas technically be Terra's Nobody?" Xehanort possessed Terra, therefor the heartless (Ansem, not the Guardian) should be his own, while Xemnas (being that he had possessed Terra's body) should be Terra's Nobody.
@@MetalHanyou1 maybe when someone gets Norted their body is no longer considered their own but more like an extention of whoever heart is inside? that was terranort created Ansem and Xenmas ans xehanort heartless and nobody respectively, Terra heart became the guardian, and he didn't created a nobody since he didnt left behind a heartless body of his own having his been claimed by xehanort heart and allready used to create Xemnas. though, the Lingering will could very easily have been Terra's nobody possesing the armor since he didnt have a body to inhabit. and thats why Sora needed to unlock terranort heart first before Terra's could enter the body otherwise it would probably have been rejected by the body
Terra is way too stubborn for his own good. He managed to survive being forced out of his own body by splitting himself in half, mind and heart. Thing is, while we already know about his Lingering Will (his mind) and his Heart (his personality, everything that makes him _him),_ I wouldn't be surprised if he had a Nobody running around out there somewhere. His Nobody would have his 'original' soul. All in all, Terra's got himself a Terra-verse now. My _god_ is he persistent.
It really is crazy how this guy's body has been sed as the main villain for most of the series, poor dude. At least he didn't age at all, (I think?) It would really suck to lose over a decade of your life, being puppeted as the bad guy. But then again, with replicas you can probably be immortal huh. You know I just realized, replicas totally are a way to become immortal. You can either force your heart into someone else's body like Xehanort did to Terra, or you can keep putting your heart into a replica when you age. Interesting how they never address that.
This is the original Xehanort that grew up with Eraqus, fought and ruined the lives of Terra, Aqua and Ven. If they followed the rules of time travel, every Xehanort should have been vaporized. I don't think people realized how big of a moment this is.

@@oldspice051 ya know, that explains why there’s very little variation in decibels and tone. Though tbh young xehanort nailed it imo.

Where'd he go after he showed up?
I think the implication is that LW became one with the Guardian
It fell apart soon after this.
@KingdomHerps
You hacked the timestream to get that answer
Lingering will disappeared after terra came back. It was literally terras light in the light realm
I love how in birth by sleep you play their story in this order Terra>Ventus>Aqua, meanwhile in kingdom hearts 3 you rescue them in reverse order.
I honestly did Ventus first

Not all tears are bad
Yep, Terra has been kicking our ass out since KH1. Great!
KH1, KH2, and even KH3! Perhaps his rampage continues in KH4?
Yeah there was too less riku gameplay, hopefully there comes dlc as riku mode

Forget roxas Terra had the best comeback.
Actually i cant decide between those two which have the best entrances. IMO both of them have as cool comebacks as thor's in infinity war.
The roxas reunion was more feely
Yes, the best was his comeback.

3:23 Thanks to Re:Mind, now we know why the Guardian acted on its own to save Aqua and Ventus.

I'm not really a Kingdom Hearts kinda guy. 358/2 days was my only game; that might've had something to do with it. But this...
"One day, I will set this right."
A voice, rusty from disuse, still forced to its limits so it may declare its side. A friend so loyal, his will endured beyond all else. And a reunion so powerful it drove passive observers to actually LOVE this guy.
This scene, man... this scene.
This is still my favorite scene in Kingdom Hearts. Period
What gets me is that Terra's first words after ripping off that bandage are the same as his last words from BBS
I want to point something out about the guardian. The guardian never fights back in any of his appearances, he's always subservient in all the previous games, always following orders... until now. Why didn't he fight back? It's because the guardian had no will. It's only now, when lingering will is destroyed, that he regains his will and fights back
You never stopped lighting my way back, that made my heart melt

Even though I saw it back in BBS that Xehanort unleashed that Dark Guardian that Ansem Seeker of Darkness later uses, I never knew that was what became of Terra. All the good left in Terra remained in his armor, that contained his mind. But it was his Heart that was trapped in this creature.

What an amazing trick really anytime Xehanort needed some kind of bodyguard or Terra got in the way all he would have to do is push his heart out of the body and in shroud him in darkness and instantly he would have his own heartless guardian.
The one question we never asked, why was there something around the things mouth!
Gosh, goes to show you need to notice every detail!
If when fighting the shadow-Terra somone had told me *the guardian in reality is a prisioner of Ansem thus why he has his mouth gaged so he can not call for help* I would have told him that the gag was just something the designer thought to make it look more menacing man I'm glad this conversation never took place

So freaking badass and cool!!!
Even before I saw this scene I always knew in the back of mind mind that there was something more to the Guardian heartless. I knew it had something to do with Terra.
There have only been 3 instances in this series where a Heartless has acted with a will of their own instead of acting on a primal instinct.
Terranort:"you will never break these chains."
Terra: breaks the chains
Terranort:"am i a joke to you?"

Same here. All the info over the years from this series kinda collapsed on itself.
i believe the Guardian its actually Terra's hearthless, and the Lingering Will his nobody possesing the armor since the empty body was taken by xehanort. what happened here was Terra's heart getting control over his heartless.
when Terranort defeated the lingering will (we asume since it wasnt showed but he is here) he released the nobody, and Terra here released his heart from his heartless himself, all he needed was to cast away Xehanort heart from his body, wich Sora did
The guardian is Terra heart.
He came back to sit things right, and he did set thing right

Damn them hips really don't lie!!!!! TERRA MY MAN, HIT THAT SHIT NOW THAT YOU GOT YOUR BODY BACK!!!!!
His nobody was Xemnas.
This epic entrance together with terra’s epic theme will never get old
