I like the way you sneered at the entry level 1.6 petrol engine (105hp Zetec). I have JUST purchased the entry level 1.6 Zetec ( a very reliable engine) and deliberately avoided the 1.0 eco boost because as time has proven, it’s a terrible engine prone to cracked heads… and which bright spark thought it was a good idea to have an internal wet timing belt which entails stripping half the engine down to replace and if it starts to break up ever so slightly due to age, the bits find their way into the oil pick up strainer and clog it, thereby starving the entire engine of oil and seizing it. The Zetec engine is well proven with an external timing belt which doesn’t take more than a couple of hours to replace and won’t block the oil feed with debris. Sure the Zetec might be ever so slightly thirstier, but it has ported injection so the inlet valves stay cleaner rather than direct injection where the inlet valves get covered in crap from the EGR system and also need stripping and cleaning from time to time. Gimme the older well proven engine with less maintenance every time.
I have an August '16 1.5 Diesel Zetec. Returns 52.4 mpg, it's very comfortable, handles well, and it's more than fast enough for me. Highly recommended.
Great New Update to the Ford Range; however, does it live up to the needs of the 21st Century Family... Well, realistically yes as 2 children is the normal occurence in families and only 2 can fit in the back which if you have a bigger family will be slightly to small for all your family; furthermore, a large, vast boot (which is...yes samller than some competitors but still large) for shopping and other activities and also... No as it's price is more expensive than some competitors and with some of its specifications being 'lesser' than its competitors (being outdone) it may not be the best buy. But with Ford being an extremely popular brand making great ALL-AROUND Cars and with a great choice in engines, ranging from small petrol engines to larger diesels as well as a sleek, premium and modern design assured to 'WOO' the neighbours it is certainly a good choice for most families. Which I'm sure most people will agree?
