Argh, I was sitting pretty until that collision in Austria too, using a wildcard to save a -40 and get RBR MCL 2x NOR TSU HUL BOT ZHO! That’s another big rank drop and I haven’t recently had the good weekends to balance out the bad, so 37k global and 115.3M budget 🥲 I think I might leave my team as it is, with cost cap 0.0M, I can’t upgrade any assets and still roll a transfer, unless I wanted to go TSU -> OCO but that scares me a bit 😅. I could also drop MCL to MER and upgrade ZHO to MAG to gain some more budget, but I would be locking myself out of a 2 premium driver build for Hungary (I think that will be important because overtakes are rare in Hungary. On the contrary, Spa has a ton of overtakes…) Or, if I want to consciously set myself up for 2 premium drivers, I could drop RBR to MER, roll a transfer and move to something like FER MER 2x NOR RUS HUL BOT SAR for Hungary. So many options 🤔
I have a burning question - what do you think is the budget cutoff between a 2 premium driver lineup and a single premium driver lineup? Or put it another way, you seem to like the 2 premium driver lineups for 118M+ budgets like yourself, but what do you think is optimal for 115.3M?
@@ForzaFerrari-z8l it depends if you want to accept your budget situation and keep to current points template of RED MCL NOR. I think with 115 ish budget you can get MER FER PIA RUS with some chaff. That could be potentially great for budget gain and reasonable points. No NOR is a bummer but with lower budget, it might be time to compromise on that
Thanks for your advice! Unfortunately, a FER MER PIA RUS build would mean using the wildcard which I just used last race to maximise points. However, I could make it to a FER MER NOR RUS or PIA HAM MCL MER over two races with some absolute chaff, probably HUL BOT SAR, maybe not even HUL. I’ll experiment with some lineups with 4 B tier assets to try and get in some better C tier assets, but I doubt I have the transfers to get there without a -10, even over two races.
@@tyler1130 mmmm that's heavily dependent on Ferrari in practice sessions. I'm not expecting great things from them tbh but we can hope. It also depends if you are desperate for budget gains or not. If it's all I could afford and Ferrari looked okay then yes I'd probably do it
I totally agree on “budget is very important” as I am dangling on 116.3.. I can hardly afford 2 decent B tiers.. just like Michael in the above comment, I will be praying for ferrari to do well to have a decent team. Otherwise i think I am just in a chase game for the entire tournament
Is it too early to start thinking about the potential recurring DNFs in Norris/ Verstappen battles and therefore both of them becoming too much of a risk to own? Obviously missing out on major points if you don't have either, but then would lean towards your B-spec build...
@@Jacata1 I don't think thelat should be a problem. It makes Max less appealing as he's no longer miles out ahead and therefore more likely to clash but I think their average points output should be sufficient to outweigh any risk. If I go B spec line up, it because I am desperate for funds more than scared of NOR or VER
The largest budget I've seen a player having is 125.2M - the dejection I felt when I saw that was immense let me tell you. I've been saying budget is king for long minute now but I didn't realize some people are literally already that far ahead. The builds you could put together with a team like that are eye-popping.
Do you think there's a correlation between driver of the day and active fantasy managers? Like he deserved his first few but now, as you said, it does feel like a joke. Surely its not influenced by active fantasy managers 🤣🤣
@@Matty-gl1xq I wouldn't imagine there are enough of us to make the impact tbh. I personally always vote for someone in my team I think has the best chance of winning it (normally Lando!). yeah so i'm at 118.2 so I'm a few pennies short as well. I'm basically praying that FER looks feasible as well, so I can do a NOR HAM FER MER + GAS HUL ...and SAR. Personally I'm of the mind that I'd rather just have SAR than a Sauber as they always lose money as well and the rest of the team is likely to rise in value. If FER looks rather bad then i'd have to fun MER MCL + NOR and the top 4 C tier guys...who knows with rain there could be tire changes and more overtakes so that wouldn't be too awful. What do you think? Congrats again to your brother and I hope you have a smashing weekend.
I am also dangerously close to just going with SAR. But your point about rain and overtakes being attempted makes me think more DNF potential, so SAR becomes more dangerous. A lot depends on FER for me this week, if they look good (which I have my doubts over) then I'll happily pick the first team I went through with FER constructor. Can you squeak out MCL MER NOR and a RUS with your budget? Or even with SAR is that not possible?
@@potpanmanF1 yeah with .3 mill to spare leaving me with HUL BOT SAR. And i'd have upgraded somewhat from my Spain lineup of NOR LEC MER FER +BOT HUL SAR ( but not enough to get PIA or HAM) So i'm back to the position of A+ B drivers A+B CONSTRUCTOR and one decent C driver. so very little budget building...which is why i'm hoping FER looks decent.
Don't you think that if drivers score points then they'll naturally rise in budget? I've given zero consideration to budget all season and purely chased the points and I'm at $123.8. I say just go for the points!! Have a great weekend, mate! 🍻🥳
@@glenngrant3469 sounds so simple! Bigger increases available for the tier B drivers though. I do like your mentality though - maybe I should be more focused on points and just leave my team as it is! Who knows. Let's see practice and to from there ☺️. And thanks! You have a great weekend too.
Don't feel bad about going Merc to McLaren. Was the right move on paper. Agree to take a minute but that's only a decision that appears wrong with result bias. I went for Lewis over piastri. Much more of a "what have you done" decision 🤣🤣🤣
@@Matty-gl1xq yeah it's definitely the result that made me think more about it, but even if it was a better outcome, I'm still not happy with my process. Something to work on!
@@potpanmanF1 fair. Have to do what's right for you, I just wouldn't be questioning the decision to bring in the best looking team after sprint qualifying. I went Ferrari to McLaren which correct me if I'm wrong was even bigger points swing 🤦 but I'm fine with that decision because a McLaren 2-3 in sprint qualifying meant they were 100% the right team to move to.
