2:54 When the mall opened: Spencers was a Disc Jockey Records and the Shoe Dept Encore was a Walgreens drug store. The Bath & Body Works was KB Toys and Hobby
Some neat retro signage at this mall particularly the classic white JCPenney sign on its paneled wood background at 2:10 and the extreme 1980s aesthetics of the Burkes Outlet signage with its retro-futuristic fonts and coloration at 3:45 . Not totally dead but not exactly thriving, probably the state of most malls in America today. Property looks well-maintained though.
Management already seems to be looking beyond just retail. There's that Red Cross facility, what I think is a wrestling academy, the big arcade, and that storefront labeled "Community."
I noticed some construction and renovations being made to the exterior to this mall a few months ago when i drove by. I did some research and its not good news for this mall. The new onwers are currently de-malling it and coverting into a "lifestyle center". Only about half the mall is still open and you can no longer get to JCPenney from inside the mall.
It's nice to see that 360 is still kicking. It's possibly one of the best alternative culture shops the state has. It will sound weird, but the closure of the Hot Topic may have had as big an impact as the loss of anchors. The number of teens visiting the mall went way down after that, and many of the other clothing stores with youth appeal, like American Eagle, have went over the years. KB toys closed, and for ages there was no toy store at all, or short lived ones that sell boring wooden toys that no kid wants to rich people.
I am from Ky but I haven't been in this mall in over 20 years. It was the late 90s last time I was in there and I have been wondering about how it is doing. It was a second rate mall then. Looks like there are some empty shops today. I am not surprised
I have done seasonal stores in middleboro mall since 2002. I knew of this mall but had no idea it was developed by David Hocker. I was stunned by the design similarities. The entrance , signage, skylights, and benches are identical. Property looks fairly well kept.
Late comment again, but I am still shocked that Macerich of all companies owns this mall. I found out they own a few rural malls. Crazy how this mall is owned by a company that owns high end malls like Tysons Corner and Scottsdale Fashion Square
Check out Stone Road mall in Guelph onrtrio, Willow west mall in Guelph onrtrio, and Old Quebec street and do a video of malls in Guelph Ontario. Can you please do a video of Station mall in Sue Saint Marie Ontario and Constagta mall near Staint Jacobos in Kictnear.

3:47 That's where Dawahares was.
5:29 The expansion opened in 1989. It also included a Dollar Tree and a K&K Toys. Disc Jockey relocated to this wing not long after this.
It looks like the floor is the original floor from when the mall first opened...
I love the JC Penneys wood store front. Seeing fewer and fewer of those. Great planters seating and nice water feature. I call it classy.
I love the sound of fountains
8:34 This was the outside entrance to the Walgreen's (where Shoe Dept is now)
Glad to see this little mall get some coverage! I just stopped by there the other day.

I like this one. There is definitely a retro vibe here and an awesome fountain.

The Mall vintage look reminds me of how the Aviation Mall in Queensbury used to look.
I live in the area and couldn't agree more with your assessment. Great video as always......

sort of reminds me of the old southwyck mall in Toledo and even a little bit like the concord mall in Elkhart

Cute
I like the mall's interior but the name is super generic "Towne Mall".
You what chicken?
