It isn't really. It's the crossover equivalent to a C-Class, which is a midsize car. The GLE is large and the GLS is gargantuan, but the GLC is just a regular midsize SUV similar in size to a Skoda Kodiaq or Volkswagen Tiguan.
@wowdogeful by American standards the C Class is a compact car, it competes with the BMW 3 series, Genesis G70, Audi A4, Lexus IS etc. Since the GLC is based on the C Class, that makes it a compact crossover by American standards. Remember that they have the Chevrolet Surburban and Ford Expedition which are full size SUVs.
We got a 17 GLC 300 since new and it’s been good over the last 7 years. Very nice handling vehicle even in base model and the base engine is surprisingly quick for a 4 cylinder. I can only imagine how great the AMG is. Only complaints of the vehicle is a rattling interior, bad sounding 4 cylinder, and a ride that is too stiff-probably due to run flats.
I have a 2021 GLC 43. I disagree with this review on the interior - the infotainment might be laid out well as software but the cheap plasticky piano black is behind the last generation. Also the V6 in the previous gen sounded so much better and will be more reliable.
The only purpose of these tiny turbocharged engines is to please the woke environmentalists. In reality, these engines emit almost the same amount of carbon dioxide and have almost the same fuel consumption as a six cylinder. Plus they don’t have the sound or the durability.

It is crazy Doug still not figure out that two buttons at the bottom left of the steering wheel is actually configurable. Tap the screen can switch to different functions, and then use the button to activate it.
And also, this M139 engine does have some turbo lag. You don’t feel it because it has an electric turbo to eliminate the turbo lag. The older M139 in A45S definitely feels the lag. But with these new longitudinal M139L version Merc gives a lot of electrics to assist it, giving it more power and less lag.
In the real world, not a lot, 400 hp is gonna cost some fuel no matter how you do it. Pouring it into 6 cylinders or cramming it into 4 with massive pressure, roughly the same amount when you're on it. These only save fuel when you're off boost and driving like an elderly woman.

The only thing missing and rhe reason why i dont watch anymore, is i need a little more drive testing, 0 to 60, cornering, stop tests, or offroad testing from doug, luv ya tho bud
Have you done a GLC63 review? So much better
0:20 this car leaking doug
Probably from the A/C
Great video 🎉✌️👍
The reason no tinted rear windows is due to it being considered a wagon by the US Government due to the low ride height.
I don't see what the correlation is. If I'm paying Mercedes money, I'd expect it to have tinted windows standard instead of having to go out and have the windows replaced myself. A car with a low ride height needs tinted windows more because it's at truck/SUV headlight height.
@bwofficial1776 fair enough, but you don't replace the windows, you just go to a reputable tint shop and won't tell the difference between factory and aftermarket.
I love going outside and showing off my AMGnis.
Sounds like a lawn mower and I got a good idea instead of wasting the screen by putting the digital buttons that don’t move make the buttons nice physical clicky metal buttons and make the bezels smaller the screen looks like the original ipad
I’ve literally been obsessed with this car and just drove an Amg glc 63 from 2019 the other day, funny you should do a vid on this today 😊
Still waiting for Doug to say "THISSSSSSSSSSS...is a 2024 Whatever-mobile. And it's MINE!"
It wasn't that long ago when you had to go to a supercar for 400 horsepower.
Please Doug, no more crap car reviews. This last one is a washing machine.
Why? Those are always entertaining.
v6 f pace sounds so much better with the supercharger and after market intakes.
All of that cheap gloss black plastic in the interior already looks awful.
6:56 You can also press the mode select dial on the wheel to change it to different quick access modes like exhaust and suspension.
„Little“? In Europe its considered to be on the large side
Considering that they have the smaller GLA and GLB, this isn't anywhere near "little".
Mid size more likely. The GLE is BIG and the GLS is GIGANTIC
That's because all the brave Europeans came here. What's left is folks who drive testicular shaped vehicles to compensate
Love it when you review a car I'm considering getting, to that end it would be great to hear your opinion on the CLE 53 AMG, that car looks amazing
Doug, we love you Doug
We got a 17 GLC 300 since new and it’s been good over the last 7 years. Very nice handling vehicle even in base model and the base engine is surprisingly quick for a 4 cylinder. I can only imagine how great the AMG is. Only complaints of the vehicle is a rattling interior, bad sounding 4 cylinder, and a ride that is too stiff-probably due to run flats.
New GLC63 has a 4-banger?! SADDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't care how much "horsepower" it has.....4 Banger.
Most of Dougs reviews now are like reviewing washing machines… or socks. Pretty much all the same soulless crap.
I stopped watching when he stopped reviewing quirky, interesting cars, and switched to reviewing every model year. It's basically just another generic car review channel now.
That’s unfortunately the way the car industry is headed
Strongly disagree. Quirky is interesting but it’s great to get Doug’s twist on new cars and keep up with what’s coming out. Better than just being stuck in the past.
@@GoldenRatio22You drive a prius.
@@GoldenRatio22with you there mate
Tighter and Grippier seats, you love to hear it
Doesn't matter how many hrsprs it has. Its still a 4 cylinder. My neighbor is in his late 70's and has owned *nothing but* Mercedes since the 80's. He has a GLE and an S class in his garage right now. He told me that he's buying a Lexus next because "Mercedes has lost its damn mind putting crappy 4 cylinder Nissan engines in their cars." If he can't get at least a 6 cylinder, he's not buying.
They have plenty of 6 cylinder engines, & the 4 cylinders aren't made by Nissan anymore. The alliance Mercedes had with Nissan ended in 2022
Ok? Just pay for it.
Who cares? Your ego is that fragile that 2 fewer cylinders with just as much power and more efficiency will damage your fragile little mind?
@@Lorentz_Driverit’s also about the smoothness, reliability, sound and price for what you get. An amg 43 with a 4 cylindres is okay with most but in a 63? That’s where we disagree.
The grand Cherokee SRT went for $18K??!! Sheesh I wish I would’ve bid on that
Such a shame, sounds terrible. Only milk and juice should come in 2L
I have the previous generation glc 43 v6 and I don’t know if I can switch to a 4cylinder because it’s so engaging but at the same time sooooo smooth. I’m trapped in a world of v6’s and v8”s and I plan to stay 😂
Doug is the kind of guy to be the kind of guy 😮
You aren’t funny or original. Grow up. Keep your stupid comments to yourself and make millions of normal people happy.
Doug to Mercedes: How often do you want me to say: AMG? Mercedes: Yes. 😂
Being that it’s only a 200 something horsepower difference between the 63 amg and the GLC43 amg is really good bang for buck
Does the coupe version perform the same? In my country mercedes only released the coupe version
Almost 70k? Suddenly the GLK550 build on cars and bids is making sense
this car got an electrically-assisted turbo, thats why its got so much boost over a 2 liter four cylinder
Kids will not be late to soccer practice.
Doug is the type of guy who has never seen, heard of, or touched a comb
Doug reviewing the identical MB interior, infotainment, and controls for the 37th time.
Doug, do a review on the GLB 35 AMG.
if u squint you can imagine it’s the cla45 wagon we didn’t get 😭
Didn't want*
It looks really nice but I wouldn't pay that for it 😅 I could get a 90s amg cheaper then that and modify it for cheap
I'm curious what the actual gas mileage improvement is.
Of course any car with over 400+ horsepower, not counting EVs are going to use more than 10 L/100km. V6 or twin-turbo Inline 4.
Was looking at this and when I saw it had a 4 cylinder went with the Macan, sure it’s a bit more expensive, but faster and drives so much better!
You can press the amg buttons on the wheel to reconfigure them
can you do one on the GLA, don't like the centre screen to big and no manual aircon controls
adaptive dampers help the ride quality?
Great review!
