You can do both - go RR, do it for a while, but it tends to burn some people after a while. If you're still feeling spicy, go SF to switch things up. Different culture, different missions, all of it important.
Josh Harrison From my experience, there is no “better purpose” you can serve FOR the Army. As long as they meet their numbers (enlistment, retention, etc.), the Army doesn’t necessarily care what you do nor who you are. While some soldiers are more valuable than others (based on the amount of money and time spent training those individuals), at the end of the day you are a cog in the wheel. But aspiring to serve under USASOC is a better purpose which you can serve for yourself. Just my two cents...

I am 31 years old and have always wanted to join the army, and be a ranger since I was a little kid growing up in a military family stationed in Ft. Lewis. My lady and I have spoken on the stress and sacrifices that have to be made. I spoke to a recruiter over a month ago and have been studying my a## off to get a good score on my asvab and achieve my op 40. However I am getting ready to have my first child. Me and my lady have been together for 7 years and are going to get married before I ship out to basic. I am wondering is it the right decision with being a new father. I want to make my son proud and myself proud. But I don't want to put crazy stress on my new to be wife and son. I feel like it will be very rewarding for our life now and in the future. Am I making the wrong move? Or with a strong foundation and very independent woman as my wife is it a good idea. I have been doing hvac for 7 years now and I'm just bored out of my mind with it. And I want to do something bigger than myself.
Oh and I spent 5 years in the Army Infantry a long time ago. Ranger wasn't for me as I felt the Infantry stuff tired me out enough at the end of the day. I still remember I had to hit the sack at 9:00 p.m. each day as I was so tired and I was in shape and within height and weight. At 10:00 p.m. could not keep my eyes open and sleep deprevation was setting in. Being that tired with Regular Army Infantry at age 19-21, I can image how much worse Ranger would have been. I would have been hitting the sack at 7 or 8 p.m. probably. :) No real social life until the weekend.
Hey Cortes, what app do you use with your forerunner 245 to track everything like elevation distance and on a street view? We talked previously on Instagram I’m using my watch for training to prepare for the regiment. Anything you can tell me will help.
Hey brother, great channel. Very upfront and real. Quick question; Do you have any advice for an older guy (23) who’s looking looking to get that op 40 and making it in regiment? Cheers
Ima go into the army with an option 40 & damn man I’ve been trying to find a good ranger you tuber for awhile and I stumbled upon you but thanks for the info man can you make more ranger videos ? Good shit
I’m 16 and either want attempt to be a navy eod tech or attempt to get into the regiment. Probably will enlist when I’m 18. I heard the hazing is pretty brutal in the regiment
soldier of God I think I will definitely go Into the army with an option 40 in a few years. If I made it through rasp, will it be worth it being a ranger in a time of peace. I’ve heard things in Afghanistan are slowing down. I know it sounds like I’m crazy but if I made it Into a ranger battalion, I would like to go on missions and stuff that rangers are currently doing. Just wondering if it would be worth it in a few years
Michael Fireoved Be careful what you wish for junior. Look, when you train to fight, you want a chance to put your training to use. It would be like being on an NFL practice squad...where all you want to do is just play in a game. In today’s geopolitical climate, you’ll probably get the chance to “play in the game” even if Afghanistan isn’t going off anymore. That’s especially the case if you serve in a special operations unit like Regiment. So don’t be so eager to experience combat. You just might get what you wish for.
What's up man, 11B just finished up OSUT and currently held at Pre-Rasp waiting for the next class up. Any advice on what to expect and how to prepare? Appreciate it!
Nick Silva yeah be a team player. Listen, learn, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Your reputation starts now so act accordingly. There’s going to be moments that suck or you might have doubt but it’s not for a lot of people to feel like that. Don’t give up and remember why you’re doing it.
should i be a regular infantry first then re enlist with option 40 or should i go straight in for ranger? im 22 years old so i’ll probably be 30 when i get out lol pretty old
Great info. What about being a medic? I know this is jumping the gun a bit seeing as I havent passed shit yet. But would I have extra training to go through like you before I made it into regiment? Outside of Basic, AIT, RASP, and jump school that is. Im already working as one in Cali. Forgive me if I have this all fucked up, I dont have anyone close that was military, and Im trying to figure it out.
25 years old, about to enlist in the Army. I'm torn between going 15T to become a crew chief, or combat arms and going for Ranger. Is there something that i should really consider when making a decision.
Greg Sabella it’s all on what you want to do for the long run. For example, if you get out would that set you up for what you’ll be doing on the outside.
I got out of the regular army 4 years ago because my dad was sick. I miss the Army everyday and want to reenlist with an option 40 Anyone got recommendations for an E5 who forgot how to Army but wants to get back at it? Besides PT advice, I'm already hammering away at that again.

Devin I’m Reserves and thinking about going Marines after my contract. What’s your thought on it?
Mitchell Augustine bush did 911
Do you remember serving in 1st Bat with a guy named Brady? #RLTW
I wouldn’t
Real shit bro .
Hey Cortes, what app do you use with your forerunner 245 to track everything like elevation distance and on a street view? We talked previously on Instagram I’m using my watch for training to prepare for the regiment. Anything you can tell me will help.

Ranger Cortes thank you so much brother! Hope your brands rocking, I haven’t been able to keep up with everything since I deleted Instagram.
Hey brother, great channel. Very upfront and real. Quick question; Do you have any advice for an older guy (23) who’s looking looking to get that op 40 and making it in regiment? Cheers
Specifically, are fresh privates that are older treated any differently? I’d imagine not but I’d love some input
Jax Meoff 23 isn’t old we had a dude who was 30 make it in my class. You get treated on how you act and perform not your age.
I was 25 in basic. Smoking the 19 yr olds. It's all heart. C co 1/75 RS 3/98 here.
Ima go into the army with an option 40 & damn man I’ve been trying to find a good ranger you tuber for awhile and I stumbled upon you but thanks for the info man can you make more ranger videos ? Good shit
Like a ranger q&a
Zolydick K new videos coming soon
Great video my man
George Anderson thanks for the support.

11x op 40. Leave for Benning in July. I want to make it more than anything. Any tips?
Noah Stockstill it’s more of a mental game, your reputation starts on day one, be a team player, and enjoy the journey.
@@RangerCortes thanks man
Noah Stockstill good luck
Ruck and run often
Are you going to rasp in july
Cool guy, thx 4 ur testimony
Is it neccesary to know how to swim
Nah man must leave your nuts hangin out and you'll be fine
I left the NUTZ hanging out as long you have big balls, you’ll float👍🏻
When you joined the Rangers, did that made you infantry, Since you were a combat engineer?? And do you have a CIB or a CAB??
Infantry..... he’s 12B not 11B , CIB Combat INFANTRY badge. So no he’s not infantry.
6:45 your squad leader was right on
I’m 16 and either want attempt to be a navy eod tech or attempt to get into the regiment. Probably will enlist when I’m 18. I heard the hazing is pretty brutal in the regiment
Michael Fireoved if you want EOD in the navy, you better be able to run 1.5 in 12.00 swim 500 in 11:30 I think and push ups and curls around 80 plus..
soldier of God aint hard I could already do at least 40 in 35 seconds shits too easy
soldier of God I think I will definitely go Into the army with an option 40 in a few years. If I made it through rasp, will it be worth it being a ranger in a time of peace. I’ve heard things in Afghanistan are slowing down. I know it sounds like I’m crazy but if I made it Into a ranger battalion, I would like to go on missions and stuff that rangers are currently doing. Just wondering if it would be worth it in a few years
Michael Fireoved
Be careful what you wish for junior.
Start smoking yourself now. It's no joke man.
Have any reasons to your tattoos? Keep at it brother. Your videos are dope 👏🏽
SCHOOLBOY Q WITH A POUND OF THE PURP
I miss the military but don't miss the small paychecks. We were extremely fit drunks...
21:40 fuck man, that hits deep.
Ranger Cortes, appreciate the advice man! Thank you
Nick Silva hey, is it a bad idea to join 11x with Intent to be a ranger.
should i be a regular infantry first then re enlist with option 40 or should i go straight in for ranger? im 22 years old so i’ll probably be 30 when i get out lol pretty old
Option 40
Was it hard being 5'6 going through the pipeline? Im 5'6 aswell and wonder if it will affect me a lot.
Kings of the castle. Hell yeah.
Great stuff . 4/25 here . #AATW
thanks for this, I'm a regular army 11b pfc and this makes me want to be in batt even more
RLTW nice vid brother
Michael Chance yeah but I would do some research to get a better idea.
Yes look up SOCM its an extra 10 months or so
What did he mean when they said "you're 9 months out"? Like out of the military, or? I don't understand..
"9 months out" meaning he's 9 months away from his enlistment contract ending
@@BOBBYSOX86 Got it, appreciate the time for answering Bobby
25 years old, about to enlist in the Army. I'm torn between going 15T to become a crew chief, or combat arms and going for Ranger. Is there something that i should really consider when making a decision.
Greg Sabella it’s all on what you want to do for the long run. For example, if you get out would that set you up for what you’ll be doing on the outside.
@@RangerCortes Thanks brotha.
@Jake Kelly SFAS is waaay harder though isn't it? Attrition rate is way higher.
I got out of the regular army 4 years ago because my dad was sick.
I miss the Army everyday and want to reenlist with an option 40
Anyone got recommendations for an E5 who forgot how to Army but wants to get back at it? Besides PT advice, I'm already hammering away at that again.
option 40 doesnt exist any more.
@@basedbukkakeman7892 really? I'm talking to recruiters now and go to MEPs next week to talk to a counselor to go over contracts. They're confident Option 40s still exist.
Of course the recruiter will say anything to get you to MEPs so idk
@@TheArizonaRanger. yes they do exist lol, come to the army again yolo only live once why not get that option 40 and be a bad ass
Respect bro
