  • This video is on the VIPARSPECTRA 165 watt light setup, schedule, settings, and spectrum. I put Viparspectra on my 110 gallon tank, so this is the first video in a series of videos to watch coral growth and coloration effects of the VIPARSPECTRA light.
When I set up the Viparspectra, I set it up to mimic the Salty Pops schedule I created for the Aquaillumination AI Prime Reef 16 HD, with Morning Blue, Mid-Day White, and Evening Blue.
What you’re going to see in this video is
    - Why I choose the light schedule I did
    - Time and Intensity of light settings
    - Hanging height recommendations and actual
    - Acclimation recommendations and actual
    - Coral pics under Morning Blue and Mid-Day White
Why I choose the light schedule I did?
Mimic the actual rotation of the sun that corals experience on a natural reef.
    - Morning time period that is somewhat short, where light goes from dark to day, aka Morning Blue or Sunrise
    - Mid-Day time period that is long and somewhat flat in intensity compared to sunrise, aka Mid-Day White or Daylight
    - Evening time period that is somewhat short, where light goes from day to dark, aka Evening Blue or Sunset
Time and Intensity of light settings
Note: I added on the LEDENET strips, just like I did for my AI Prime Reef 16HD
    LEDENET
    - On at 10:00 am
    - Off at 10:00 pm
    Viparspectra Blue Channel 50%
    - On at 10:15 am
    - Off at 9:45 pm
    Viparspectra White Channel 30%
    - On at 12:00 pm
    - Off at 8:00 pm
    Total light review has:
    - LEDENET comes on at 10:00am to provide low light in order to start waking up coral before the Viparspectra blue blasts on at 50%
    - Viparspectra Blue 50% comes on at 10:15am for morning blue period
    - Viparspectra White 30% comes on at 12:00pm for an intensity increase to create the daylight period
    - Viparspectra White goes off at 8:00pm to start ramping down to night time and at this point corals start to shrink and get ready for the night
    - Viparspectra Blue goes off at 9:45pm to put the reef to bed
    - LEDENET goes at at 10:00pm to dark out for night time
As you can see the arc of a natural day rotation of the sun lays right on top of this spectrum.
Hanging height recommendations and actual - I am covering 24” x 18” with each light.
    - Recommendation 8” - 12”, with 10”
    Being optimum
    - Actual = 8”
    Acclimation recommendations and actual.
    Recomendation
    - 3-5 Day: Blue 10 / White 10
    - First Week: Blue 20 / White 20
    - Next 2 Weeks: Blue 20 / White 30
    - Then start adjusting basis coral
    What I did
    - 3 Days: Blue 10 / White 10
    - 8 Days: Blue 20 / White 20
    - 7 Days: Blue 30 / White 20
    - 7 Days: Blue 40 / White 30
    - Final: Blue 50 / White 30

This is the best review I’ve seen for the lights. I upgrade my tank and got 3 of these lights for my 120. And there were no videos teaching settings and times for lights. You did an incredible job I’m happy to see of my corals do

I have two of these fixtures. I've been using them for 3 years. I want to warn those who are planning to buy the same - it's very bright light. You need to start with the minimum intensity. Even at 1% blue, these fixtures are very strong. So, make sure they hang higher above the water surface in advance.
Wishing everyone salty water and healthy inhabitants.
    Stay healthy!

That's the older model, a lot of the ones people get now can only increase & decrease by 10. 10 on the newer model is not as strong as 10 on your model.

Schedule looks good for a mixed reef tank.

Aye one thing I’d advise for ya to do is throw in an internal canister or wave maker and give them corals some flow they love flow !

      There are 2 channels
Channel 1 - “blue spectrums.” You can set the intensity and on / off for this channel to control just the blue spectrum.
Channel 2 - white spectrum. You can set the intensity and on / off for this channel to control it separately as well.
If you have the remote you can click through it easily. If you don’t, push and release the front button (don’t hold) and you can cycle through all the settings.

Thinking about pick up pair of the lights for a 75 gallon reef tank. How are yours working out? Are they still working and is the corals growing strong? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hello. Corals are happy and healthy. However, growth rate is no where near the growth rate of other lights I have ran. So ultimately, my opinion is they are good lights at a great price, but if quick growth is what you want, these lights haven’t proved to do that in my tank.

Do these things have a day night timer? Or mounting options for those who cant hang them on our ceilings because they're tile

    • @saltypops4276
      @saltypops4276  3 місяці тому

They have 2 timers. One for blue and one for white. No moonlight. For hanging you would have to buying a hanging bar that mounts to the tank.

Sorry if I missed it, but how many inches are the lights placed off of the water level? Or are you simply following the manufacturers suggestion.
