YYEESSSS do the SG Special Deluxe! I have a blue one that I got from a friend just before he passed away. He broke the neck from the body and sold it to me in parts for $200 back in 1999. Someone threw the neck out in the trash but I still have all the parts (some in other guitars) and will one day get a new neck and put her back together, but Trogley... you will absolutely fall in love with that guitar if you get one. I highly HIGHLY recommend you doing a review/documentation of one.

Merry Christmas, brother Trog. For under $1000, I purchased knockoffs of a green quilted LP custom, creme '58 SG (Les Paul) custom 3 pu, and a sunburst ES-5 w/Bigsby. All three have gold hardware.
The pictures didn't show the headstock, which had me wondering just what I was in for. But when they showed up, all three had traditional "Gibson" headstocks.
They have excellent craftsmanship, brother that would rival Gibson. I ordered and received them just before the pandemic because their shop is shut down now.
But the finest guitar I've ever owned or played whose tone far exceeds any Fender, Gibson, or PRS, is my older Grote semi-hollow 12-string, setup for 6. (I like the extra string space for fingered arpeggios.) Having a pronounced golden-brown tiger-stripe top and pick guard, with Fender 10's, the warm harmonic balance in the chords and the fatness in the melodic lines, I can hear that sound all day, brother Trog. I cannot say the same for any other instrument I've ever heard or played. I would urge you to look into this for your own tonal satisfaction.

I own a 1963 Kalamazoo gibson classical. My father traded his Martin d28 for cash and the Gibson to pay for my birth. As a child Saturday mornings he played it and I sat on his bed. One morning I fell walking and put a knee and cracked the spruce face. You can still see the repair. Its a great playing classical.

6:38 I have One of these Gibson SG fadeds. Mine is a 2002. It is very comfortable, easy to play. I changed the pick ups for a Seymour Duncan jazz neck and a SD Jazz bridge (not to be confused with the JB) with a swapped Alnico 2 magnet. That thing is my no 1 guitar when I play with my band and record. Killer deal. Got mine for $618 after tax.

I bought the 1999 Gibson SG Deluxe Black from Guitar Center right after it listed, I don't know how it was still showing you on Musican Friend. I guess I paid way to much, rookie mistake. I'm really into Gibson Firebirds, so when I saw the three mini humbuckers I was sold. It was listed as excellent condition so maybe that'll justify the the price.

Limited edition finishes aren't advertised and that's a good thing if you ask me. I bought a CME exclusive shell pink mustang bass, and it's one of the few mustang basses with a maple board. I had to hunt it down and it made me feel like it was a special bass for me. Yeah it's a bit selfish, but I feel like that's some of the appeal, stumbling on a guitar that's sorta rare and perfectly specd to you.

Elsewhere, I've commented something which I heard several weeks ago in another video. (I don't mind repeating it.) If Guitar Center is going to be liquidated but Musician's Friend is carrying on, it would be wise if Musician's Friend simply transferred into all the GC outlets in America and became the in-person equipment retailer.

The stringing thing, I've been told that Guitar Center does not do any work on used instruments that are bought in. They leave them, strings and all, in the state they are purchased.
My local one had an Eastwood that had strings (old ones too) strung the wrong way. I mentioned it to a salesperson, he said he'd tell their tech. Went back two weeks later, still the wrong way. Mentioned it again, different guy said they wouldn't do anything. Guess management wants them selling and not fixing.
It bothered me so much I just strung it back the right way while shopping there.

@@djohnson2499 I work a gc currently, and as long as the guitar is in good shape, it's usually from buy in to picture almost immediately. It's definitely a time thing, unless strings are broken, or frets look gross (they are usually one and the same), I like to change out the strings and clean up the frets if I have the time. If you're good at your job you can pick up on minor clean up jobs via osmosis from the tech.
