Certainly one can buy a C-Tank watch or an IWC that speaks just to its owner, but a Modded watch becomes as much a part of its owner's originality as do the freckles on their hands. Great honest content as always Jory! I have been modding, repairing, collecting and building Watches for 18 years and have to say that 4:44pm has done a great job on choice on parts and design. Nathan rocks. Cheers.
Mine: bead blasted case, SARB059 Alpinist dial, black date wheel, OSC polished DLC chapter ring and bezel, Namoki Seamaster professional bezel insert, Lucius Atelier lumed "Grand Seiko" hands. Looks like a cross between an Omega SMP and Planet Ocean with an SKX body. I absolutely love what you can do with these things.
I love the way the crystal and the bezel make an almost seamless transition into metal from glass. The domed crystal is a real turn-on!!! Loved the video T-3!
I purchased my first modded sxk, the only thing as factory is the dial (same as in this vid). It’s all black case and bezel (yacht master style) with a NH36A movement, a double domed crystal with a red anti reflected coating, red inner chapter ring, red signed threaded crown in black, red minute hand with the second and hour in black, and black background day/date wheel with white text, it’s sitting on a black leather strap with red stitching...... 2 months on I still can’t stop looking at it, I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I couldn’t be happier with my purchase..... and that’s the point of modded watches, it will always be perfect for you. I have watches up to tens of thousands in my collection but this is still one of my favourites.
I never thought I would have a modded watch. Then Island Watch started modding watches. I have one of Marc’s modded SKX’s and couldn’t be happier. The fully lumed ceramic bezel makes me happy every time I see it light up. And the double domed sapphire crystal just makes sense to me!

Did something similar to my SRPD55 :D Since I got into watches, I always wanted an SKX but unfortunately it was already discontinued and I wasn't willing to pay near 3 times the price for the used one despite how much I wanted it, at the end of the day it has 7s26 movement inside which isn't bad but for sure doesn't cost that much lol. So, I modified mine with NAMOKI MOD SKX case with threads, threaded crown, solid steel case back and the SKX bezel insert. It still has the SRPD dial because I like it more than the SKX dial but it is a real diver now :D A SLEEPER!
I've owned 4 different modded watches, one that I modded myself. Years ago I had an SKX173 that failed so I bought a new Seiko 5 on ebay. It was one of the very small cased models with a field-inspired dial. I took the entire movement/dial/hands out of the 5 and put into my SKX173. My other 3 modded watches resulted from buying various dials and hands then sending the watches out to have parts swapped.
I’ve got the SKX009 and I have no plans to mod it. Would I like a sapphire crystal and maybe an NH35 movement in there, sure. However since they’ve been discontinued and are going up in price, Id like to keep mine as is.

I like this T3 mod. It's built on the SKX case but makes tastefull choices as to what to improve on the SKX design. It's so cool to choose parts to make it your own.
This one goes beyond a typical mod, as it only uses the dial (and movement?) from the original watch. Why start with a 5kx, spending unnecessary money for the entire watch, when you could just use a 5kx OEM parts dial, (or any dial of your choice) since you’re swapping out the case, bezel, hands, etc. All of the parts necessary to build a custom SKX inspired ‘homage’ can be had from a variety of sources. Did 444Pm pressure test this build?
Guarantee this was never a 5KX but was made from parts as you describe. And of course it wasn't actually tested to 200m, I don't know why he claims it is now magically "rated" to 200m, lol.

Could somebody please explain me something? So I just got a new Seiko 5 with a 4R36 movement. However, I don't feel any resistance from the crown when hand- winding, even if I wind it 100 times. Is this normal with the 4R36 movement? Thank you for reading this ;)
@@daylightsensor8695 thanks for the feedback. Yes,there is clicking, and the crown is fully pushed in. Should there not be resistance from the crown once it's close to fully wound up?
There is no resistance in an automatic movement after about 30 turns of the crown it should be fully wound, the resistance you refer to is only in a mechenical movment
@@amaanpatel9889 you shouldnt feel much resistance, only barely enough to notice it. last resort would be letting it die and then winding it manually to see if it starts again. if it doesnt, then its probably broken
Thanks so much gents! Well I did let it die and it did start to move when hand wound. However, the gears ( which I see through the exhibition caseback) still move when I wind it, more than 50 winds and the gears would still be moving when wound. Is this normal?
Modding is popular, but not my cup of tea. Even the guy with the sissy T-Rex for a friend has discussed it and noted that some people actually mod out Rolex's. The SKX with all of it's warts is just that, an SKX - arguably one of the most iconic timepieces ever created (even at it's ridiculously low price point). It doesn't hack, it doesn't hand wind, it usually gains 15-20 seconds a day and most owners have a scratched crystal, but it's still an SKX. Once modded, it might look cool, but now it's nothing - like a rubber engine mount Harley that doesn't shake at red lights. The warts ARE the watch!
Personally I hate the word modding being used on watches unless you actually have it modded and not just parts changed. Also you have that band that you bought in Milford so you know about the surfing in N. Hampton and Rye. I've been wearing an SRPD95 since the Fall through Winter, not so much Spring because of Covid and now Summer surfing and it has been through hell and it is perfectly fine. Only a moron would pull the crown when in water and the two times I have had water get into a watch was because I shattered the sapphire crystals which is why Hardlex is superior when you are in the water. I just wish Seiko brought back Sapphlex. Nice watch you got there and Happy 31st
Love that '5KX really different, the sailcloth strap on your SKX, looks great, much better than the original Z22 rubber OEM, I too am a BIG NATO and ZULU strap fan. I have 3 SKX's, a bone stock '009K, love the 'Pepsi' bezel, plus two modded '009's, one with day/date and one with a plan dial, without those complications/functions. Seiko could easily have updated the 'SKX's with a 4R36 and drilled lugs retained the 200M water resistance and charged what they are now doing so for it's '5' replacement, who knows we may even have got a sapphire crystal?

Nice work I like the original More but that’s just me
Have you seen the Seiko SBGA385 ?
So how much did you get paid for this 15 min plug?
I own two Porsches, an M3, and a Land Rover. You do the math.
i like the insert on the modded 5kx
Link to the strap on the SKX pls
Yep review the islander watch!!!
Could somebody please explain me something?
So I just got a new Seiko 5 with a 4R36 movement. However, I don't feel any resistance from the crown when hand- winding, even if I wind it 100 times. Is this normal with the 4R36 movement? Thank you for reading this ;)
Do you hear any clicking while trying to wind it? If no it might be defective. Also make sure you don't have it in time or date set mode
"Collecting is a passion of every watch enthusiasts, Moding is a display of artistry of every enthusiasts."
Where can I buy a bracelet like the one that came with you 5KX T3? I have searched amazon for it.
All i want is to put tritium in mine. Does anyone know where i can send mine to get it done?
Is that a county comm Zulu strap?
At 4:44 - "4:44pm"... nice.
Oooh
4 is my lucky number,
So, T3, are you a Mod convert?
this is beautiful I want one!!!
I saw another modder to a Blood Moon Samurai. ZOMG!
Its 2 am and im watching someone talk about fucking watches. Good times
It’s very nice but the glare is awful.
4:44pm ... in Chinese that's a homonym for "die die die", not a really lucky name for a b-day watch
Well, I’m American, and four is my lucky number.
@@thetimeteller wasn't expecting a reply to a month old video. But if you're reading this, any thoughts on the Seiko SNE547?
Beautiful
Buy a Vostok and review one of those
Even those whom mod, still have one or two that are not modded.
skx007 is 42.6mm not 41.9
I love the catchy beat in the intro. Have to rewind the video to play again!
i have a question ?
