Better than the discovery channel. My wife has been enjoying these too!
congrats to the smith family for finally getting the headstone in the right spot after so many years
Very interesting. I think you enjoy the challenging problem solving aspect of these jobs.
I worked at a cemetery for 10 years, this was very interesting loved it. Gr3at video guys
Ron you had me nervous crawling around that hole. What an awesome thing y’all did moving the monument. God Bless.
I wonder how they figured out it was on the wrong grave. It only took them what 73 years. Excellent video. Safe and professional again.
neat idea to use ice blocks to support it to get the straps out....
Border Reiver yeah as soon as they said ice I remembered hearing that trick before but wouldn't have thought of it myself.
I was wondering if you would suggest pipe to roll it off with. I move sheds all the time and that is how I move them around. I should have known you would immediately come up with that idea. You my friend are at the top of your game. I am always impressed with your ability. You are an asset to your profession. And to top it off you are a man of God. Keep up the great work and as you always do, be safe.
Pipe rolling is a classic method but now a days they got these machines called "Shed Mules", look them up if you have not heard of them.
What a great job! I just came across your channel and I love your videos. I can only imagine the cost of such a move. That truck doesn't pay for itself! Well worth it, whatever it was.
Ron: Now, what are we going to do with this thing? Somebody's gonna have to make a decision.
Talon: Paperweight!
Hi again Ron a bit of an unusual job for recovery which makes things interesting. i am jealous of your beautiful blue skys with lovely sun shine, something we hardly ever get now in the UK our weather seems to be rain, rain & more rain nearly every day & we are lucky if we get a couple of weeks hot sun shine in the summer if you could call two weeks sun shine summer. As always an interesting video from you. I have been trying to contact you via facebook but with no success.
You were right, using the ice blocks was inventive. I was afraid the top heavy memorial would tip over, but you controlled it perfectly. (more to follow)
what a great series.
I'm guessing Ron, from your vids ,your crane is not a common thing where you are , here in the U.K they are extremely common, they are trailer mounted, both fixed in position and roll along , or cab mounted, with both hook ends like yours or grad type, both I have used before having to become a carer.
Keep up the great work Ron. Your so much more professional than our recovery drivers here, it's good to see.
There are only 3 in the general area and not common at all. It has made our job so much easier. God bless and thanks for watching.
Ron all i can say about these first 2 videos is " f'in awsome!!!!"
talon: "Is somebody in there?"
Thankfully, the answer was NO. God bless.
(Whisper, "yes")😳 replay ("yes")😱
Ole tator was leanin some,Ron, good job!
nice to see a video where everyone helps, the ice blocks great idea
This was an awesome job. I enjoyed working with the people and it was unique and challenging. These are the jobs that make this job worth the negative jobs that we have to deal with. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Nice video as always. It would have made a good start of a levee in the river. That's the best idea I can think of.
Ron, they could "donate" it to the local state "Graybar Hotel" and give the inmates there an "exercise routine" with sledgehammers & make a whole big pile of "small rocks" from that big one. :)
But now the inmates now have a lot of small rocks to use against each other and the guards as well.
whenever there are people trying to get things done there is always a woman that wants to stop for pictures lol.
The ice idea was pure genius.
She is a member of one of the families of the graves the headstone was moved from-to, she was there to observe and record the progress of this interesting task.
Remember, there are few problems that can't be solved with skillful use of high explosives. A mining blaster could convert it to gravel in an instant. lol
Although they are at a graveyard with a grave 20 inches away from the 17,000lb foundation and they would obviously never get permission to use explosives as there in a graveyard. You definitely could drill a hole into the center of the foundation and place whatever explosive of choice in there and boom its split in two pieces or if your lucky maybe four pieces
Explosives would be fun, but waking the dead wasn't in their plans for this one. ;) I heard that they are a bit cranky when someone wakes them up.
Didn’t realize there were 3 episodes to the “ monument move”‼️😆 WOW
Have to hand it to the grave digger- that ice idea is pure genius - also - Midwest Truck handled a difficult situation with ease and aplomb - good show all!
Your 1150R knew it was lifting a big load! That was the first of your lifts where I noticed a little boom flex and frame movement. Strong, safe work.
David Sonnen Yes sir. It was a heavy lift at full extension and almost flat elevation. And you are correct, it did flex. I kept a close eye on my load screen, the load, the boom, and the truck, trying to make sure everything was safe. As always, thank you for your insights and comments.
Yea, when you really understand your equipment, you can work safely at the edge of the envelope. Keeping the load just a couple inches off the ground was smart!
Again, thank you. And you noticed that I kept the load low to the ground....yes that was intentional.
I just saw this video and my question is this. What's the purpose of the 17,000 lb stone?
I feel like when he dies, his casket is going to be lowered by this truck
Cody Quick what if he wants to be cremated?😕
his ashes will be scattered by his truck then lol?
Cody Quick what are you talking about. Ron is gonna be buried with her wife and his truck.
Late to the party. We had a local family owned tow/transport company that the son had passed away. He was loaded in a hearse, then it was loaded on his 3 axel roll back. His truck transport him, cool but unfortunate
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
interesting job .. and you had some fun too !!!!
Yes, I very much enjoy my job. Thanks for watching and God Bless
Admit it. You had fun with the Tator.
Never saw you lift directly on the chain. You usually use a D ring on the hook.
I wonder if people are dying to give them business?????? ;) Yes, a horrible pun. lol Wow.. what a heavy piece of concrete to move. Glad it was you doing this and not someone that didn't have the equipment and ingenious mind to do it. :)
Thank you as always.
another awsome move, they should use ur videos as learning vids im sure ur channel subscribers have just started once ur found by more people the subscribers will be nonstop!!
The ice trick was cool!
Its not a new nor old but useful trick in any case where the object being moved has no 'picking eyes' and allows for precise placement as the ice melts.
Strong foundation of LIFE !
Thanks for watching and God bless.
That's one heavy casket.
Ron Pratt and Talon get the 2nd part almost complete!🙏❤️🇺🇸👼🏼😎🇺🇸
that ice trick was a stroke of genius,
Thank you and God bless.
Are you sure Mr Smith is not inside that block? It looks way larger than needed to be just a foundation.
We were told that it was just a foundation and it was built about 72 years ago. I do know that it was EXTREMELY heavy.
Me and my paw paw had to lift a circus elephant with our rotator once. Sucker was a hollering sumthin awful when the leg rigging slipped over his family jewels. Good thing the audience thought the limping was part of the act
Why do they need a 17,000 lb foundation to support that headstone? Seems like major overkill.
I can see that you have not watched Roger Cook of This Old House installing 6' x 8" granite steps using ice to remove the strapping on steps two and three. Each trade uses little things that make their jobs easier. Nothing says that you can not use those things to help your jobs. Take care, and GOD Bless.
Yeah it is a neat trick and useful tool for stone setting where there is no picking eyes for more aesthetic look, its kind of an old trick, still useful.
Strong enough to raise the dead.
Is somebody buried inside that cement block???
Drill holes in it fill those holes with TNT an make little rocks out of it.
That would be fun!!
You cant do that you be blowin the body out of it. Thats Abraham Lincoln in there !
If they've got a couple good hard freezes coming up, holes filled with water should crack it if done right. Not sure if anyone still alive knows all the tricks of doing that, though.
Joe Bramblett I know it happens naturally on stone cliffs etc, but would never have thought of setting it up to work for you in that sort of situation.
Couldn't you place the foundation on the rollover while leaving the chains underneath so you can easily reattach the boom truck to the chains and lift it off into its new spot?
Ideally, Yes. We weren't able to get the Rotator to the spot where they wanted it unloaded. The 3rd video in the series will show you why. Thanks for watching and God bless.
What was the purpose of moving the stone? Would seem to be easier to cast a new one if it's needed in another location.
The monument and the stone were placed in the wrong spot 72 years ago. The plot they were sitting on belongs to another family, and, unfortunately, the family was going to need that plot soon, so both had to be moved. The stone foundation was going to be broken up and disposed of.
could use a jack hammer and brake it up and haul if off to the land fill or reuse the cement in new cement..Just sayin...John D.
Could you maybe do a 'day in the life" video?
Perhaps. I will consider it. Thanks for watching.
Are there any jobs you enjoy doing more than others ? This job for example is different than a truck recovery.
Yes, I enjoy the unique jobs that make me think. Jobs such as this. Today I did another unique job that I really enjoyed. I had to unload a frame straightening machine for a body shop, carry it into the building with my truck, and then set it into place. Jobs such as these prove to be a fun challenge and a change from the standard accident recovery. Don't get me wrong, I love those as well. I simply enjoy a challenge that makes me think.
Ice blocks was a genius level idea. BUT how did it turn out? On to part 3 and maybe that will be answered.
He should make a Instagram or a Facebook! I would love to talk to you Ron!
WOW, that is one (1) Huge Chunk of Concrete.
That truck crane is good for 20,000 lbs at 30' extended, right?
Something like that. It depends on the elevation of the boom and the rotation from 0 degrees. Thanks for watching and God bless.
I believe someone in vault because just no “body” but skeletons bones that all
Just not as easy as a guy would think.
Not always. It was one of the most unusual jobs we have had so far.
I enjoyed being able to make things right for the family. Thank you for watching and God bless.
Is there a way to see the picture that the lady took of you guys?
I have it hanging in my office. If I can remember, I will try to take a picture of it when I go back to work on Tuesday. Thanks for watching and God bless.
No sir, we need to thank you for being so kind and hard working man. I wish that there is more people like you in the world ( this goes for Talon, Michael and all people who work with you too ). God bless you too!
Do you remember that video where you talked about Mr. Darrell? I'm just like him, every night i go to bed i dream about meeting you and working with you and whem morning comes and i need to go to scool i just want to lay in my bed and sleep for ever. I hope that day will come! :)
👍👌☝
paper weight
Did you say it was on the wrong grave for 75 years?
@Marilou yes 72 years
👍👍🇨🇦
you didn't find jimmy hoffa under there did you.
NO.....nor did I find the treasure at the bottom of the Money Pit.....lol
6:20 your about to open the grave
this right here will make things pucker so tight 12 bran muffins wont fix
Who was the lady it was hard to hear....
Not sure which one but she is a family member of one of the graves, she was there watching things progress.
Drama = $$$ Working by the hour...............
Ya know, someone died to make this video.;0)
Actually, this was just a headstone and foundation....there was nobody under them, thank goodness.
that young should listen more and talk less
Sometimes patience can be my best friend. Thanks for watching and God bless.
