Kyle, thanks for the review! I bought an Independence Grasshopper single skin for those no/low wind days. It allows me to do a reverse launch in almost no wind just by backing up. For landings I come in low under power and flare fully very close to the ground the moment I kill the power. I don't enjoy running in the sand to take off on nil wind days....so this wing has been a real game changer for me! My Spyder is still my "go to" wing on windy days. 👍 Bill
@@ishady27 The Grasshopper is certainly not fast, but it allows me to "get into the air" with almost no effort. I look forward to flying on nil wind days now. The Independence Tensing is even lighter and a step up from the Grasshopper.... I'm not positive, but I believe it is a bit faster.
Kyle, I thoroughly enjoy vids regardless of the subject. Thanks so much for the time you take to shoot, edit, and share your experiences. Much love from Vancouver BC
I also prefer the Tensing and the lighter weight version the Sir Edmund. I occasionally fly the APCO Hybrid as well. I have found that taking a wrap just prior to landing helps the flare substantially. The best way to land is a swoop or power on. The Tensing is BY far the better value between the APCO and Tensing, at nearly $1500 less in price!
Kyle, you finally hit the jackpot. I was REALLY considering UNsubscribing after all that ENDLESS BS about food preferences, traveling, and all paramotoring-UNrelated crap!!!! That said, I fully agree with your (very welcome) review: being fond of Apco for the (very, very, very positive, I must say) experience with my Apco Lift, I happened to buy one of the first (if not the very first) Apco Hybrid to be brought in this country (brazil), and I must admit I...hated it! It felt weird right from the beginning, waaaaay too touchy on the brakes, almost unpredictable on takeoff and landing - and I don't mean dangerous by any means, just unpredictable (BTW, I enjoyed seeing you stall it "out the blue", it felt good realizing that it's not just me...LOL!) - those DAMN magnets just never seem to hold properly and keep falling off at the worst time possible, messing up the lines, it never seems to keep up with you in flight, hanging back or swinging sideways, being all over the place all the time...in a word, UNPREDICTABLE. Again, I AM NOT SAYING IT'S DANGEROUS, but at the end of the day, it's just NOT FUN to fly, period. So I just sold the wretched thing. I fly for fun - after having flown, since '86, GA planes, ultralights, trike-flyboats, paragliders, I enjoy paramotors for the relaxed, enjoy-the-view kind flight: if I have to keep a sharp eye on what the damn wing is up to, I feel it drains off all the fun. In my humble opinion, of course.
Delta, you stated it more than well. That spaghetti system of control lines had me scratching what's left of my hair. Shame on you for selling it to some poor sop though. I'm sure you told him how worthless it was though? P.S. I would've done the same. :)
@@billcallahan9303 I sure did tell him about it, but that`s what he was looking for anyway. And he was looking for something to fly both with and without motor, lightweight and all - a fair tradeoff I guess, since you usually loose at both ends in such compromises...LOL!
@Pandacat 666 I am very fond of Apco as far as reflex wings go, but not so hot on other configurations, IMO. Quality overall is of the highest standard, they are both aeronautical engineers (father and daughter, the owners and chief designers), so their products are solid and safe - but not always up to the alleged hype, especially for beginners...LOL! I learned paragliding in other brands, and made the transition to paramotoring in an Apco Lift, which I now consider having been a big mistake. It`s a wonderful wing, very very very stable in the air, but a tad too fast on landings for a beginner, who`s trying to sort everything out in those last crucial seconds. Broke no prop, but indeed knelt down on landings more than once...LOL! I would nowadays get started in an Ozone Mojo (way simpler and slower on T/O and landing), and after gaining proficiency, then transition into an Apco Lift. But keep in mind, that`s me, in my age group (63 and counting...), my background, my flying area and conditions...it doesn`t necessarily apply to everyone, everywhere...
@@deltagamma-en1zh You're an honest guy Delta G. As for me, I always lie wherever appropriate...maybe beneficial is a better word. Yeah, my old Mammy would kill me for lying but there it is. You found a guy who actually wanted it? Amazing!
Ahh Doug getting pre-release rights now...haha. I still haven't flown a single skin. I like the demos and they just don't hold any pressure for an energy landing..aka the power off flop? From the video observations, they do seem to.
I happen to love the tensing 17, 100kg all up on my motor I have better economy than the average motor wing + better roll rate + easiest inflation for taking off in a new place on XC in the high desert. Easy takeoff speed, hands off stability, Packs super small in the harness when you fold the seat up.. it's really the future of the sport of you ask me for foot launching. Glad I could hook you up with the best products as usual Kyle!!!
I don’t think I would want a single for a primary wing. But I see a slot in for nil wind nights when you want to go sight seeing. I flew the APCO and absolutely felt the flop. They have that APCO priced pretty high for a wing that I might grab 10% of the time. Might look at some others if I get a chance as it would be a nice day thing to have I think....
So why would one buy a single skin anyway? apart from using it as a training wing, it seems like these things lack performance bigtime. Glad you are back with some good content. Those talkshows made me unsubscribe yesterday but i just wanted to have a last look. just in time with this video.

Kyle you may already know but Dudek make an "ES" version of the V-King that has sheathed lines and a heavier material.
Glad to have 20min of Kyle, I was getting the Kyle DT's from not enough of Kyle!!
Great video! I was really looking at Dudek's product, but all the details you put into your test definitely changed my mind.
Wish a happy new year ! Thank you for your analysis Kyle, …will try one myself soon, just did buy a used one ….looking forward. Rg and stay save.

I love the Dell shirt.
Great content! Like me a wing shootout by Kyle O!
5:40 That arch behind you. Spittin' image of Pope Pius the 12th. Bless you my son! How'd you get home so quick? Bus?
Who doesn’t love the cobra!
That was a cool review of single skin's
Thanks !
Nice video! I had some curiosity about the hybrid single skin gliders. Not sure I'd want one, tho.
See ya up at EFD??
Who sells the Tensing in the Southeast? What's the price now? (2023)
Considering adding a single skin to the glider quiver myself. What would you say are some of the purposes for having a single skin glider?
Great vid man
What is the best glider you ever flown?
No best. Just good or bad for the particular mission. Like how there is no best car or truck.
Nice🤙 single skin glider seems like a cool option to have in you all the time due to great size. Maybe paired with a tinix
That's GOOD content 👌
Glad to see you back from your trip. Cant wait to join you for a training.
Sent you an email

What's the use of these if they don't have good performance?
Hike and fly as well as kiting in light winds are the strong points.

It's like no one actually wants to sell the Tensing. Can't find a price ANYWHERE, and no one will return an e-mail.
What is single skin?..

Ye id also like to know. In paragliging its obvious why people buy em. But for ppg i dont understand
First wing..you could of farted and it would go up..
You called lines “strings” what a novice !!
