    I believe that some wings (design), and how you load them (pilot and paramotor weight) changes a flare window. From my own experience, I had this wing that had such narrow flare window that started 2ft above ground and ended 1ft above ground. If I flared more that 2ft above ground I flared too soon. If I flared below 1ft I flared too late. I couldn't land for the life of me (almost quite the sport because of it). Once I changed into another wing (Universal 1.1) my whole experience changed. The amount of flare authority and flare window made all the difference. Haven't botched a landing since except the one time I land downwind too fast LOL... but that's a different story... Moral of the story is that there are times when equipment may be contributing to the struggle of new pilots (which for experienced pilots may not be as big an issue)... Great video Kyle..

    Been thinking about learning paramotoring. This is a great video. Hard to find good videos of new people landing and the advice they are getting from their instructors.

    That's an excellent tip if you're not touching the ground when you're halfway into your brakes you started the process too early. Thank you for that reminder

    I don’t think I’ve ever heard the flare explained so well, perfect explanation. I also loved the third person video at the same time, I almost wish someone would do a third person for launches, a frontal/rear view showing how much / when to pull break, especially with Nil wind.

    • @kyleoglee
      @kyleoglee  3 роки тому

      In nil wind, once you've attained a running stride, full brake pressure is then acceptable.

    My friend always flares early. He is scared his going to fast and going to hit the ground fast. So he flares far to high to bleed off speed. But then nearly always drops a good few feet

    My wife goes, "He's not flying with his finger, is he?" I said, "No, he's using his hands." :D
    Cracked up at the puppy clips! That was a riot! Totally unexpected, HAHAHA! Out from left field, a furiously thrusting puppy, HAHAAHAHA!
    Landing is the one thing I picked up immediately. I'm on a trike, though, so it's a totally different dynamic than being on your feet. I got it on the 2nd try, and only once found out what happens when you let up too soon - you FLY again, LOL! Then you hit hard as you fall out of the air at 3 feet or so ... BAM!! Another time when I was training, I came in for a landing a bit too high, and didn't see the drainage culvert that I was about to run into. I had already killed the engine, so a go around was out. I instinctively yanked the brakes, but it wasn't that I knew it would pop me up - it was just a gut reaction to try and slow myself down. It worked beautifully, and it made it look like I knew what the heck I was doing in front of everyone, LOL. I also said, "WEEEEE!" as I sailed over the culvert, which got everyone laughing. :D

    Thats not how you do it... never be smooth on the throttle or brakes! You gotta jam them as hard as you can, let off at the wrong time and break props and gear. If you're not breaking sh!t then you're doing it wrong... 🤣🤣🤣 jk. Excellent content 👌 👏 👍
