    I just don't understand why this style blank is so popular these days. Gisi seems to be everywhere. I think they're nice, but there are so many other interesting patterns and styles out there - especially on this very channel! This is nothing against you or your craftsmanship Bob, as I love your channel.Keep up the great work.

    I audibly gasped when you showed the pen because it is not what I expected at all. Very nice. I really liked seeing the process of making a segmented blank. I think I need to add a bandsaw to my garage now. :)

    If a person was going to make several of these blanks, they could cut their strips longer, glue them longer, and just cut off what they need. Make several variations so as to mix and match.

    Hi Bob,
    Beautiful pen. How long are the walnut and paduak blanks?
    By the way I’ve made about a dozen pens using vulcanized paper. A few times the blank would snap between the wood and vulcanized paper when I drilled the blank. Recently I started to scuff up the vulcanized paper and so far no issues.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    • @RJBWoodTurner
      @RJBWoodTurner  4 роки тому

      Hello Peter, the length of he walnut and Padauk depends on the pen kit you are using.
      After I make the chevrons, I cut the little walnut block at the bottom of the blank and glued the hard board to it.
      The W&P were intentionally longer that needed when attached.
      I laid the pen tube onto the blank and held the walnut block next to it. That’s how I matched the length. Once you do that for a particular kit, you can measure and will know the exact length for future reference.
      Regards,
      Bob
