- This is NOT a joke!! I get called couple times a week to come and clear codes on FCA vehicles. Here is the link to register your tool.

This video covers a couple changes to the FCA (Fiat, Chrysler) SGW (security gateway). Autel recently changed how you register your tool on AutoAuth. Word on the street is the Chinese Launch tools can now be added to get through the SGW, unfortunately my Launch tool will NOT get through the gateway. I tried multiple times with no success. Thanks for posting this Cody, Snap On Z where you able to pull codes after resetting the scanner? I have a 2019 RAM and snap on isnt having it. So I have to register my scanner with AutoAuth.
I run into this almost daily and I've informed multiple shops of the process; even offering to help them set it up.
Somewhat surprisingly, most would prefer to just allow me to take care of it for them.

@@HouseCallAutoRepair easier in the sense that they can continue to do things the way they always have. It's their comfort zone and they choose to stay there.
So there are mobile diagnosticians or shops that fill in the gap. Realistically, not everyone will ever get on board with changing technology, but if we can fill that gap and allow the customer to receive a quality repair at a fair price the first time then we can at least raise the industry as a whole; even if it's under less than ideal circumstances.
There is a lot of debate about this and I won't claim to be the one with the answers. Just my personal opinion.
Cody, AWESOME thank you for sharing this lots of people will be confused why there scanner is not working really appreciated is this will be with all manufacturer or only with Chrysler/jeep- FCA vehicles and i do have the LUNCH X431-V+ the new version hope will register with AUTAOUTH will see. cheeers
I can see more and more manufacturers going this route in the future. It’s only going to get more locked down unfortunately.

Hey Cody: I really enjoy your videos. Really informative and no agenda. I'm writing to ask a question: is there some compendium of locations, listed by vehicle, where Chrysler Fiat hides the security gateway modules. The reason I ask is because, where I do much of my road service work there is usually no internet, poor cell service (usually no service) and even when my Verus can make a connection, it gets knocked of CONSTANTLY. I've found that on many occasions it's just less frustrating to rip the dash apart (or wherever else they squirreled it away) and use a bypass cable. It sure would help to have quick directions to the module to save some time.
That’s a good point and didn’t think about being somewhere where internet is hard to get. I see the bypass cable coming in handy for those situations. I recently bought a bypass cable but this cable doesn’t take the gateway out of the vehicle and all you need to do is plug into the network star connector. I honestly haven’t used it yet but now that you mention this I think it would be valuable to show it’s use. The cable is intended for locksmiths so they don’t have to use the “rolling” code on the SGW vehicles but I’m curious if this cable will clear codes since the SGW module is still connected.

Hello Cody, working for a used car dealer we won't see any thing this new for another year or so. Question, will the scan tool need to stay connected to the internet in order to work once I go thru the set up?
Once it’s made it past the “unlocking” you have full functionality and don’t need internet anymore.

Hey buddy, I have not been able to get mine to work on Chrysler since it’s a China launch. You should not need autoauth where you are located l but I could be wrong
@@codysautodiagnosticsprogra8706 Well I think when the cars are bought here at the dealer I won't be needing autoauth to get through the SGW (since the vehicles are Latin American Version), but I do have clients with 2020 Gladiator imported from the US on which I need to get through that SGW. I might try to get the autoauth to check if maybe they updated the chinese Launch version by now.

Yes Mike that will get in as well. Once you register it on autoauth and then go into the vehicle on your drive pro you will go to the “advanced” area on the screen to connect. I should have showed this tool as well since it’s a little different to connect. When I get another SGW vehicle I’ll be sure to do a quick video showing this tool as well.

I take this serious . In the beginning I thought that people were trying to trick me but it turns out that some shops stay with the things they feel comfortable doing . I am not a jerk and I try to explain what they can do but the majority finds it easier to call me .
💯 felt the same. I try to explain to these shops they have the tools to perform the code clear but they feel it’s to much “work”. Oh well all I can do it try and show them the way.
Shoot no need to complain or anything. It all pays the same. Whether ya get a car that’s kicking your rear or ya clear codes. I’d still charge the 1 hr diag time if it were me
Absolutely! It’s just baffles me that shops/techs won’t pay $50 to register. I’m not complaining, I’ll mop up all day off these lol.
This is ridiculous that the evil executives at the French owned Chrysler/Fiat corporation have added this secure Gateway module layer for scan tool functionality. This company has been fleecing the American people since Lee Iaccoca introduced the K car in the 70's. Napoleon would turn over in his grave if he knew this was going on. What a pain in the ass. I hate Chrysler for this.
SGW is coming to other manufacturers as well. Ford, for one, Subaru for two. Eventually every manufacturer will use the gateway.
What if your internet is down at the shop? Or if your trying to do a field repair in a remote area without cell service. This is just stupid. The SGW on my Ram 2500 is behind the cluster and requires a specific cable if you want to bypass the AutoAuth website for code clearing/bi- directional control. This cannot be acceptable. It's just a way for all the manufacturer's to charge you for working on their crap. It will start out as a nominal fee. Pretty soon they will hose you. People will rue the day they didn't fight this.
All manufacturers require internet with their scan tools, this is becoming the norm with aftermarket tools as well. Internet is a must and why I carry 2 different carriers hotspots. Times are changing and this is one of the changes.
