Omg but homeward bound was my favorite movie growing up and still is one of my favorites lol. You will get there. You’ve got this even if it feels like you don’t. You have a lot going for you, truly. For one, you have unemployment insurance for one, there were times my partner and I would have killed for that. You have family it seems you aren’t totally disconnected from (since you are in the cabin) and who aren’t in poverty themselves, relying on you to care for them. Now I’m not saying this to make you feel like your feelings on this aren’t valid. Things can always be worse but they can also always be better and it feels unfair that so many seem to only live in the ‘better’. Your situation is rough, especially when you know you have a lot to offer if only one of these algorithms would pick you up. If only one single actual human being would have a conversation with you and just give you a chance instead of being turned down before you even have a chance to show what you can do. It sucks. It truly does and I am sorry you are going through this. But things will turn around, they almost always do and this will just be another distant memory to you. The chances are in your favor here it’s just a game of waiting and I know that you, or anyone, cant wait indefinitely, living costs money. But you have to play the games of these corporate suits and that takes time because most aren’t in a rush to fill positions, at least not in the same kind of rush you are to afford a living. But sometimes seeing how hard things can get for real people, and it’s not some rare thing, can make what you are going through a bit more tolerable. Not ok, not good, but tolerable. Take it day by day, week by week at most. Don’t think too far ahead because the uncertainty will drive you crazy and your mind will assume the worst case scenario. But the fact is you don’t know where your life will be a month from now, or even two weeks from now. There is no point dreading something that may not happen so just work as hard as you can to get to your goal employment and don’t think farther ahead than is certain. Plan for the future but don’t assume the future. You have real skill, all you need is someone to take the time to see that. I know this world of hands off keywords and filters is cold and unfair but people slip by these algorithms all the time and your resume could get into the right hands at any time. Just keep putting it out there. The fact it’s taken so long isn’t a reflection of you or your skill, it’s just a numbers game. One to a few people are screening hundreds or thousands of applicants along with AI, so there is just a better chance of getting filtered out than not even with amazing skills. But since it’s a numbers game, the more you apply the better chance of something coming through. I just wanted to make it clear the reason you are having trouble isn’t because of any personal failing of you. Good luck man. It’s rough out there. I hope the best for you.
This is so beautifully written and honestly should be a companion piece to the video. I'm so insanely privileged to have uploaded a video that was basically just me complaining and these wonderful messages of hope and gratitude and resilience are coming out of this. My most sincere thanks :)
The internet is a horrible place full of scammers and false promises. The internet is also a wonderful place where this incredible amount of support and empathy and new perspectives can be shared to get through all of life’s problems, whether the internet caused them or not. These are by far the most beautiful and meaningful collection of comments I’ve ever recieved on one of my videos (at least right now, maybe an army of trolls will come in soon and will make my comment here look real stupid), which I am so so grateful for. A sincere thank you to all of you
Scammers #1 tactic is using your emotions, and it's the absolute worst. You're more likely to pass over red flags when you're feeling strong emotions. Usually they use fear, but any emotion will work. The only thing you gain from this is skepticism towards scams, and that's honestly not a bad thing. If keeping an eye out for scams because you ALMOST got scammed, is muuuch better than doing it after you've BEEN scammed.
Scammers tell you that they have exactly what you want, as long as it gets them what they want. I work as a recruiter, I see a TON of scam job posts on every job posting platform. Whatever it takes to get to you to give them your IDs/Banking Info/to send money from a check they mail you to a money mule. They can say whatever they want, that it's remote or in office depending on what you want, that it's full time or part time depending on what you want, that the pay is waaaay above the pay for similar jobs, that "No experience needed, and full training provided!" (I see that exact phrasing used a ton on scam job posts). They can say all of this because none of it's real in the first place.
thanks for making this, i completely relate. being unemployed is a special type of hell, especially when rejection gets intrinsically tied to your quality of life. i'd also had been nearly scammed by a similar setup where they send you a list of questions and get back to you super fast, and it totally kicks your ass. it's just hard getting your hopes up over and over. luckily i found something-- no pay/hours increase from before, and not in the field i'd been working towards, but i really like it and it gives me structure, and that's all i ultimately wanted. sending you the best wishes, you have some undeniable talent and i hope you find what you're looking for.
It's really scary how prominent all these scams are getting. I'm so frustrated for you and my heart goes out to you. Getting into this situation was not your fault, and it doesn't reflect on you. Bad people will prey on the people who they think they can take advantage of, and coming out of this feeling more cynical is fair. The financial decisions you made afterwards were extremely relatable, and nobody could realistically judge you for that. But coming out of this with a mindset that things will be okay, is the kind of strength that's going to bring you good things moving forward. Stay strong, you've got this. Also, the shots you took for this video were beautiful ❤️
Your talent speaks for itself. You’ll get there. I got my first animation job, moved across the country to a strange place, and got fired after only a few months. Then, I miraculously got a motion graphics job somehow just a few weeks later, worked as a contractor for a year, finally got hired on as a full time employee and then immediately got laid off when the pandemic hit. I’m a truck driver now and honestly it’s great. I make video games in my free time and I also do hobby storm chasing.
This happened to me about two years ago and it was so embarrassing not to only tell people around me but to crawl back to the job I was trying to leave. I luckily didn’t give them my ssn number, only because I missed it on the form. It was red flags all the way through but I was desperate. Scammers still send me job scam emails to this day
i'm sorry this happened to you! That is so horrible. i was scammed by a "housing rental company" in 2007 - i lost I think $100 or so because they advertised my dream rental and I wanted more details/to apply/etc. - and STILL think about it and feel really dumb!! Yeah, it sucks and it probably didn't make me a better person. it's fun now to watch kitboga and some of the other scambaiter youtube channels to assuage my anger and annoyance that these folks exist.
My friend just sent me this, and I can relate. I've been out of a job for over six months, had my dream job, loved the projects we worked on, loved my team. I was so happy to have a permanent posting instead of a contract for once. But.... the author strike was the killing blow for the studio.... The entire team was dissolved overnight. And there's just no job in animation and vfx for me... and it's not getting better. There's over 8,000 people on employment insurance in the animation and vfx industry in my city at the moment. This fucking sucks.
I'm only hearing horror story after horror story about what it's like to be in the industry right now. That's so brutal, I'm so sorry to hear that. Best wishes to you moving forward
The Breaking Bad story rule is that characters get trapped into a bad siituation, which they solve doing something desperate, which solves the current episode's problem but make things more complicated/worse for future episodes.
Seriously though, what an awesome epic rage scream at the end, it was that perfect iconic helpless rage scream at scammers on behalf of people everywhere who have all been scammed at some time or another and will probably never really do anything about it! Well done, you should do a short of just that part!
That was really cathartic for me at the end, genuinely. A few years ago, I helped an elderly relative get untangled from a nasty scam and it sucked so bad! I'm sorry you were the victim of someone else's greed and disregard. Best wishes for brighter opportunities, I hope they come swiftly!!
I hope this video pops off because it's really really good, and really really well-edited -- also obsessed with Big Rock Candy Mountain being in the intro
God that sucks so much! Not even the scam part but just the absolute disappointment finally being relieved to get your dreamjob and then finding out it's all a lie, I'm so sorry man!
10:39 -- this sounds like a scam that's been sent to me in the past in which you're asked to buy something that you'll get reimbursed for for a gig or sponsorship and then you can guess the rest
yeah thoses scammers fucking suck I took a freelance job once and after a week of work I figured out it was a scam and I got scammed out of 5k and Im still recovering from that tbh I stopped everything, I fell behind on rent Im now more than 2k in debt and like bro why scam unemployed people Im unemployed, Im broke I have nothing to give you man? like you just wasted both of our time???? and you just ruinned my life? for what? the satisfaction of scamming me for maybe my last 100$ that I dont have? what?
They scam the unemployed because it's the unemployed that are vulnerable and desperate enough for jobs that they'll ignore a LOT of their gut feeling or suspicions, or even lash out at people who try to warn them or go "well I'm smart enough not to fall for scams!" (when it's never a matter of smarts, it's a matter of having the time and ability/luxury to pass out on a possible good job.)
It's so easy to equate what other people do to us as what we deserve because we put way too much stock in other people's ability to determine our worth. But the truth is that nobody knows who we are just by looking at us, our resume or anything else at first glance.
I'm not really in any sort of similar siuation but this video still hit home. The thinking you're moving forward when you're really moving backwards r not moving at all. I really do hope it all works out for you man.
I'm so greatful that you made this video. I will finish my studies soon and I'm going to be hunting for jobs. Your video made me aware that scams like this even exist. I'm going to be on the look out for the "oddities" during the application process that you listed. I've never had a fulltime job and don't know what a usual process looks like. So thank you for this video :)
The feeling of looking back on old thoughts, knowing it didn't turn our well or even close to how you thought is truly heartbreaking. And I use that word in its genuine meaning. You feel yourself poking at those holes in your heart. Thank you for sharing, I can imagine this was beyond difficult for you to share.
I feel you on this. Been searching for a job for 4 months. Its brutal when you know you'd be so good at something but its rejection after rejection. It's very hard to divorce that rejection from meaning something about your self-worth or professional abilities. I totally resonated with your the idea about the story of this season. That at this moment it sucks and has no point. I especially feel it when talking with family and friends. The mantra I've tried to repeat is that this just means the story isn't over yet so I don't get to put a period down yet. Thank you for the laugh of the screaming scene. Sending you warm thoughts and here's hoping something comes through for you really, really soon.
wowowow.. this was so funny and heartfelt and entertaining and gutwrenching...!! I'm sorry you had to go through that.. but this was the first video of yours I've ever been recommended to watch and ive subscribed as a result...! this was so great to watch, i think its hard not to comment and like and subscribe :) your talent and passion seems remarkable!
This happened to me back in 2021, and i went way farther in the process and only asking me to send them money for them to send a "work computer" finally was too far. I'd graduated my film production MA a year before, in time for everything to shut down, and just needed money. It sucked and i ended up working retail for two years which left me physically and mentally exhausted. Finally, a year ago i got a job working for a local news station as a writer, but we got bought out and I was laid off back in February and been unemployed since. It sucks. I'm about ready to give up on production and screenwriting and take any mid-level office job that just lets me live now
I hope that this can help get you job offers cause - you did a great job making this and I hope this helps someone find you. I've always been worried about these scams. I've passed up a lot of what may have been legitimate jobs. I wanna say, you can say there's all these red flags but it is like. I've had shitty jobs or shitty interviews, etc. that have had some of these red flags despite being perfectly legitimate jobs. Congrats on making this. Getting scammed is scary and embarrassing - but people think they're immune. People think they'll never fall for scams. It's important that we do talk about it and how we fall for it and the situations they take advantage of. Not even just so we can avoid them but people who get scammed out of money face banks that tell them "oh well you weren't careful enough so we're not helping you." The more we can say "this can happen to anyone" and put the onus on the scammers and the banks, we can try and keep banks from pulling the safety net away. I know you caught on before they actually got any money out of you but raising that kind of awareness is so important. ANYWAY GETTING SCAMMED SUCKS. IT SUCKS HARD.
Your video filming / editing is absolutely great! I had absolutely 0 interest in this video clicking in on it, but you really hooked me. Best of luck with your future career!
I had a similar situation a few years ago with a scammer pretending to be a reputable company. Luckily nothing ever came of it because I realized I didn’t want to be doing my “””interview””” in a very informally delivered Skype group chat many many hours outside of business operation regardless of how legitimate the position was or wasn’t. But it’s scary how real it seemed before that point. It wasn’t until after I ghosted them that I realized this type of organization was definitely not hiring right then and nothing on their website matched the super vague job listing. Thanks for telling your story.
You've said you haven't gained anything positive. I don't think it's true. You gotta be able to access risks, now you can make it better. Let's be honest, I've been watching this video just for a nice pace and color and sound adjustment. For the relatable experience of having your soul touched by a song, for a short lake in the woods escape. It was a nice 20 minutes. I hope you'll find a good job. Callout to a scammer was a blast :D
This is definitely one of those videos that end up in your feed, click on it, are engrossed, and then realise it only has 2k views?? As everyone said, if nothing else, this is a great showcase of your skills.
I have to thank you for this. I am having a shitty day, a shitty week, a shitty year (but, therefore! :) I am ok) I wasn’t scammed on those terms I feel like I was scammed on emotions, friends, health, life. I am tired of shallow stuff everywhere and we need this kind of videos we need reality. Thank you in a world like ours unfortunately it probably takes courage!
really glad this was recommended to me. the intro of the video had me immediately hooked from the editing and sound design. then seeing you talk about how twenty one pilots inspired you really interested me since I have also been a fan of the duo for a long time now. You have incredible storytelling skills and the professionalism in your craft is evident. It sucks that this all happened to you and I feel like great things are coming ur way. Hoping opportunities come for you!
A lot of people are going through this and I think the way we deal with these things is going to have to be a lot different than what we've been taught. Make a home in your inner world so you can feel empowered even without financial security.
Sending support in the comments 🧡 what that scammer did was awful. I’m wishing you the best. Your video was really well edited so I’m certain you have the skills.
hi man, first of all, hey, you're gonna be fine. a few weeks ago i got scammed buy some online dealer buying weed. it wasn't a lot of money, but i just used that and got through getting clean. i was a heavy user. it's not the same, but I'm sure you can use that as a reason to get better in your life. it's not the land of milk and honey, but you are gonna get stronger.
from a man to a man, relatively same age, this is a hard life, way harder than it was in the past. I'm not sure about you, but at least for me, there's always a feeling like I'm so behind. you're not. and this is not an advice, but never ever spend money that you don't have or can't have(like from your family, etc...). i learned that by having to live a few weeks with literal pennies, hope you don't have to learn it that way...
The Song recommendation is pretty dope - Overcompensate by Twenty One Pilots. Idek they came out with some new shit. Last I heard from them was back in Suicide Squad 💀
Wow this happened to me too. Not once but twice after a year of unemployment. I ended up being able to see it was a scam so I ended up not giving my info but the heartbreak and crushing realization that I was being scammed for something like trying to find a job is something that will sit with me for a long time
I recently got a call, was also got offered a job by a scam company, but they where just looking to sell my information. I ended up calling the company the scammers where impersonating and actually turned a scam into a real job interview. Didn't get the job though :(
Now wait and see. You'll get a way better job because of this video you put out. From a company / individual that actually gets you and sees your value. Wait and see!
this happened to me with a roommate who spent all of their money on drugs so i can relate to the feeling of finally getting your vibe right and having it kicked down immediately
Oh i am so sorry. I feel a dark laugh come across me so cruel because i hear the hope in the words your past self wrote; & the bitterness in your reading. So very effective of you God i am so sorry
The gig economy has absolutely ravaged graphic design, photo and video editing seems like there's no real good full-time positions anymore and the most you can get out of it is a weekend hobby
Don't go too hard on yourself. Everyone does mistakes and nothing bad has happend because of that. Could be much worse. You were in a desperate situation to get a job and someone used you for that. A bit of a cliche quote but "Never a failure, always a lesson" Come back stronger and dont let yourself down :-) Wish you all the best from Germany!
The universe sucks, and it will continue to suck. Please don't delude yourself into thinking karma, or some balance exists. The world will not stop kicking you when you are down. I pray for your success.
I hope you find a good fit eventually, you seem like you're good at what you do, but remote work seems like such a crapshoot. It's a lot easier to scam people with zoom meetings than a brick and mortar office and even for the real jobs you're competing with an insanely large pool of people compared to whoever's close enough to commute or willing to relocate.
I genuinely went to an interview in what felt like the world's sketchiest looking brick and mortar office, and I cried on my way home because it was a scam. It was an MLM, with a completely fake job posting to lure me there, not a bank info/ssn type scam. I had dressed up in a suit and paid bus fare to get there but I didn't take the bus home because I didn't have money. Just walked. It was a rough time. I'm doing way better now. MLMs are terrible. Scammers are terrible.
Honest feedback I hope you see; the interludes of you losing your composure and exclaiming how hard it is for you to read the script absolutely should have been left on the cutting room floor. If you think your sappy fangirl introduction was hard to *read*, you clearly have no idea how hard it was to *sit through*, lol
Not to victim-shame, but I really wish people would not get crazy with spending money when they don't have the actual money on their bank account. As a person who has done this. Every cloud does not have to have a silver lining, and maybe you'll feel like this did not do have anything good for you even after 10 years from now. It's valid. And I feel you. Hugs!! I wish the decision makers didn't do dumb desicions, and we wouldn't lose so many working places to millionares and billionares. And yes, getting a job is completely arbitrary, this is not a meritrocracy.
Omg but homeward bound was my favorite movie growing up and still is one of my favorites lol.
You will get there. You’ve got this even if it feels like you don’t. You have a lot going for you, truly. @@fromisabella that's a cover I did myself so it warms my heart that someone noticed :) (it makes a comeback in a future video)

You feel yourself poking at those holes in your heart. Thank you for sharing, I can imagine this was beyond difficult for you to share.
❤ this was a phenomenal video, dude. If nothing else, I'm rooting for you to find something that fits, and for an employer to see your value.
This is just stellar man. only 90 seconds in and wow!
Thank you in a world like ours unfortunately it probably takes courage!
props too you man for putting this out their.
Only a minute in an this is amazing. Really hoping this goes viral. Rooting for your success.
1:09 is a mood.
This felt as well produced as a short film 🎥 life may not have the story beats of film, but your video quality is worthy of it :)
really glad this was recommended to me. the intro of the video had me immediately hooked from the editing and sound design. then seeing you talk about how twenty one pilots inspired you really interested me since I have also been a fan of the duo for a long time now. You have incredible storytelling skills and the professionalism in your craft is evident. It sucks that this all happened to you and I feel like great things are coming ur way. Hoping opportunities come for you!
wishing you the best luck in finding stable work
this is an incredible video in spite of the unfortunate tale being told
... therefore you make wonderful videos and inspire others. ❤️
A lot of people are going through this and I think the way we deal with these things is going to have to be a lot different than what we've been taught.
Make a home in your inner world so you can feel empowered even without financial security.
Your channel will blow up, you're good at what you do, even now that you're full of self doubt. Hang in there brother.
People are awful sometimes. Good video.
Wow this happened to me too. Not once but twice after a year of unemployment. I ended up being able to see it was a scam so I ended up not giving my info but the heartbreak and crushing realization that I was being scammed for something like trying to find a job is something that will sit with me for a long time
watching this video, i really hope you succeed!!! Don't give up my friend.
I recently got a call, was also got offered a job by a scam company, but they where just looking to sell my information. I ended up calling the company the scammers where impersonating and actually turned a scam into a real job interview.
Didn't get the job though :(
this is a really well made video. im really impressed
Sometimes it's really hard to understand why things like these happen. Keep holding on, you'll get there.
Now wait and see. You'll get a way better job because of this video you put out. From a company / individual that actually gets you and sees your value. Wait and see!
Go for the - cabin route or - full time trades job + art on the side.
this happened to me with a roommate who spent all of their money on drugs so i can relate to the feeling of finally getting your vibe right and having it kicked down immediately
the big rock candy mountains 🧡
Commenting for the algorithm, I think you deserve far more views and subs than you have
getting an upwork ad at the “full story” countdwn was admittedly pretty funny
Legendary 😂
1:07 “Wake up honey! I can hear the roosters singing their song to get up”
sometimes you just feel like a charlie kaufman character
Oh i am so sorry. I feel a dark laugh come across me so cruel because i hear the hope in the words your past self wrote; & the bitterness in your reading. So very effective of you
God i am so sorry
The gig economy has absolutely ravaged graphic design, photo and video editing seems like there's no real good full-time positions anymore and the most you can get out of it is a weekend hobby
Don't go too hard on yourself. Everyone does mistakes and nothing bad has happend because of that. Could be much worse. You were in a desperate situation to get a job and someone used you for that.
A bit of a cliche quote but "Never a failure, always a lesson"
Come back stronger and dont let yourself down :-)
Wish you all the best from Germany!
Great video, sorry it was about getting scammed
Why scammers go for people like them? Unemployed, moneyless, desperate and/or vulnerable?
I guess cause vulnerable people are unfortunately more likely to be desperateand easier victims
The universe sucks, and it will continue to suck. Please don't delude yourself into thinking karma, or some balance exists. The world will not stop kicking you when you are down.
I pray for your success.
my bf was hit by something similar, it's just so so awful
🤓
All stories are lies, some are useful
❤
Burl Ives version so much better!
Also: use of the word Asshat
Not to victim-shame, but I really wish people would not get crazy with spending money when they don't have the actual money on their bank account. As a person who has done this.
Every cloud does not have to have a silver lining, and maybe you'll feel like this did not do have anything good for you even after 10 years from now. It's valid. And I feel you. Hugs!!
I wish the decision makers didn't do dumb desicions, and we wouldn't lose so many working places to millionares and billionares. And yes, getting a job is completely arbitrary, this is not a meritrocracy.
huh?
