I built a boat big enough to get in !

This is a slideshow of a lot of the images I took while building a Chesapeake Light Craft Northeaster Dory kit. The kit showed up January 7 2021 and the test float should be this week if the rain will ever quit. It is a great kit. The fit of the CNC cut parts was perfect and the directions great. It was a big project and very rewarding to build. Lots and LOTS of sanding and finishing. There are 4 coats of epoxy on every surface of every part and then three coats of white paint on the outside of the hull, 4 coats of gloss varnish on all the interior, rails and transom followed by three coats of satin varnish on the interior of the hull. The entire boat was sanded between everyone of those coats !!! Wasn’t sure I was ever going to get done sanding 😁. At the same time I also built a trailer for it and a system to get it upside down on a rack on top of my truck when we pull the camper. I have been busy…….. Now I just gotta learn to sail 😀

Now, with your patience and you skillness, your next challenge is to build a scale 1 steam launch :+)

Hi Raphaël ! Thanks it was fun to build. I thought about building a steam launch but the cost is what stopped me. Big boilers and engines are expensive and I don't have the tools to build at that size. It would be fun to have one

Thanks Wes, only if you count my little arms pulling on oars as unusual if I can get the wind to do the work. I have seen a couple of guys mount the drive part of a trolling motor to help out with the fun
