There is nothing to be excited or elated about. IT sector does not fetch much revenue for any state. Where is manufacturing and process industry. The only automobile manufacturing industry has been closed by the CK Birla group and the present state government could do nothing about it. After the Tata Motors was driven out of West Bengal by Mamata Banerjee and her cronies no major manufacturing company has set foot in West Bengal. Only major investment was brought to West Bengal by the TATA Hitachi Excavators limited which started its operations in 2009 in a new 350 Acres plant Kharagpur before the Trinamoolies Came to power. The credit for this plant goes to Shri Buddhadev Bhattacharya. This plant was relocated from Jamshedpur to Kharagpur. Tata Hitachi Manufactures Heavy Duty Tracked Excavators in this plant. No other employment intensive and revenue generating manufacturing industry be it capital goods, construction equipment, mining machinery, automobile industry, automobile ancillaries consumer durables, electrical equipment, machine tools defence industry has come to West Bengal. @@sujoyghosh5880it's not about the tax earned by the state or central. Anyway that money is used to pay the government employees and buy votes.
IT creates a lot of jobs and a lot of middle class income. They spend money and that money goes directly in the economy - the financial sector, real estate, retail sector, airlines all get the share and eventually add up more employees in those sectors too.
Yes the manufacturing sector is of course important and WB lags a lot there. But that doesn't mean you undermine the IT sector.
ITC started construction of this campus back in 2017, wonder whats taking them so long to complete. Hopefully ITC and Infosys would commence operation soon and give this area a new dimension.
Covid was the reason.. Otherwise, itc is one of the greatest companies in India. 7 th largest, soon bcm 5 th largest in India..
Itc construction is happening very slowly
ITC did bhumi puja in 2017. After soil work and dumping equipments, construction only started in late 2019. 6 months of work and Covid struck and next 2.5 years had no progress. Then in late 2022 again it re- started at good pace. ITC Infotech plan to start operation in late 2024, same as Infosys which is delayed by 1 year also.
COVID is the reason.

Not a second campus. They will actually increase the number of buildings in this same campus in the upcoming phases, as they have taken 50 acres of land and this is only a small part in phase 1

This is sort of an incremental update. To be honest, apart from these 3, there is the silicon valley to showcase. There also, construction is on for all companies and will take at least 2025 to take shape. We have to realise that mammoth constructions like these do take time. He does provide opening of new offices in shorts and tweets.
Build such industries where local bengalis participate the most.
Why? Its your responsibility to become upto the mark.....and this is true for everyone.

Heard, this order came under review in Chandigarh High court and might be stuck down.. Still Haryana govt made an attempt. Again States like Haryana are offering SEZ facilities to IT companies and then demanding something from these companies...But Bengal govt is not offering anything special to IT companies to be in a position of bargaining.

Industries grow well, competitive and impartial when their is a diversity of talent pool. So if your point was to bring more business to Bengal then I agree but if it means for regionalism and lack of an open diversified culture then I would advise please rethink. Diversity is the key for a healthy set up. Business are not meant to be regionalised like local bengalis etc.

Taking in a positive note the space around these three entities is huge and still untapped. By the time Infy had started construction, wipro starting and ITC in the same lines as Infy, the space around these 3 campuses should have been buzzing just like after a long gap the Silicon Valley area has started buzzing with huge activity.

Please note Infosys a few years back shared the architecture of their campus in a meeting, where they indicated about their plan that include hospitality.
Its an apprehension that you have a hidden political agenda of spreading false positive information just before the upcoming election.
