Welcome back, golf enthusiasts! Today, we're breaking down an incredible moment from Ricky Fowler at the Honda Classic. You'll see how Ricky effortlessly shallows the club and learn how you can achieve the same in your swing. Let's dive into the technique that can revolutionize your game!
    *In this video, you’ll discover:*
The common mistakes that prevent you from shallowing the club.
Why the problem often starts in your backswing.
How to keep the weight of the club above your hands for better control.
Drills to help you practice the correct movements and achieve that perfect shallow swing.
    *Key Points:*
*Common Mistake:* Many golfers take the club back too shallow, leading to a steep downswing.
*Ricky Fowler’s Technique:* Notice how he keeps the club above his hands and lets gravity do the work as he transitions into the downswing.
*Nonchalant Approach:* Adopt a relaxed attitude with no tension to achieve a smoother, more effective swing.
    *Drills and Techniques:*
    1. *Start with the Club Above Your Hands:* Begin your swing with the club at a 45-degree angle above your hands, ensuring a lighter feel and better control.
    2. *Gravity Drop Drill:* Focus on letting gravity drop the club as you initiate the downswing, reducing arm tension.
    3. *Practice with No Tension:* Maintain a relaxed grip and a carefree attitude to avoid reverting to old habits.
    *Conclusion:*

I have never been able to shallow, at least not still strike the ball well. Am 58 and have zero external shoulder rotation, and i go shallow to steep like you demonstrated. Well i did this drill and its "life changing experience", the distance i am hitting the ball is phenominal and my video analysis shows that the shallowing occurs nicely. Just one practice session... thanks for sharing

I really like when you said the weight of the club is above the hands on the backswing and behind and below the hands on the downswing. Great!

    Hi Zach
Another pertinent lesson. What helped me establish this was when at address and starting the back swing, my first move was to pick the club “up” and not around. Worked great and shot a 76 on a 5700 yd tract. Shot my age for the first time playing 18 holes. It gets easier to do so the older l get. Years ago l would shoot my age if l stopped after playing 9 holes.

Hi Zach: Great video! You are so right about reverting to old habits. I had you analyze my swing and you caught my inside takeaway and as well as my sway off the ball. I have a question related to taking the club inside. It seems the stack and tilt method has you taking the club inside and around your body, keeping the weight on the lead leg and returning on the same plane to strike the ball. Is the stack and tilt method helpful for someone like me who cannot keep from taking the club inside and swaying off the ball? Thanks so much for your anticipated insight! Greg

It seems to me that shallowing the club is just rolling the forearms open. I also know that most pro golfers have massive forearm and rotation just before impact. Am I wrong there?

Zach I've been watching you for the last 5 years or more and this video is The Best for shallowing the club cause it's a natural move without playing position golf. We all know that position golf doesn't work. I've been working with The Great Mac O'Grady since he was on the PGA Tour. And all these years he never ever wanted to spill the bean on shallowing the club cause he knew that was the secret or as Steve Elkington said "My Picasso" or the "Twirl" from P4 to P4.5. Great great job Zach!
