Major's final speech in the anime Hellsing. I posted this for 2 reasons:
1 - I really find this speech impactful and it truly captures his character. Beautifully spoken.
2 - The other version of this on UA-cam has horrible quality that makes viewing it uncomfortable. So here's this in HD and with proper margins!
Enjoy it ya blood soaked protestant fuck buckets. :D

It may be a little difficult to understand because it is a Japanese historical manga, but the one I am subscribing to now is "Tsuwamonogatari".
Welcome to Reality ma kids

That's a lot of integrity right there, he acted as he chose and believed. He truly carried himself with full awareness and no fear, he didn't even consider changing his mind out of convenience. Even if he chose to do wrong, he COMPLETELY chose that. A text-book super villain, he doesn't act as vengeance, or out of nonsense, he wants to do evil and harm, and he likes it.
and those are the most dangerous and frightening people
Oh come on, he didn't turn London into a battleground for ghouls and nazis just to to evil and harm, he wanted to defeat Alucard, because of his hatred towards him.
Ever heard about a motivational speech? He loves war, yes, but his main goal was defeating Alucard all along, beginning from the WW2 when he met him for the first time.
@@ExecutiveSonda In some way, both motivations are true. He wanted to defeat Alucard an he wanted a great legendary battle (that's how he motivated his battalion).

The Major is a fairly unique character. It's true he is a bit of the overused "doing evil cause I just am" kind of villain however the way it is done is... different. They portray him like this as a way to show the darker aspects that humanity has to offer.
The Major was the most unabashedly honest villain I had ever seen. He embraced human atrocity from the beginning, then absolutely refused to give up on it or any other trait he saw as human.
That he became something other people would also call a monster was meaningless to the Major as he considered them half-awake to their own humanity at best.
He is a resolute evil person. Someone who is well aware of his evil action but find more than enough justification (wicked they may be ) to the point that he feels not only no guilt or self conflict, but also very inspired about his evil deed. Someone like that is normally mad or very close to be.
***** It was more than just dying. He would destroy the monster that tried to take away his humanity, in the process.
In a way, he outright succeeded. Alucard, even in managing to return years later, is now in a position where he can't take even one more soul lest he wind up out of commission all over again.
+tranz2deep in the manga Alucard die was becouse the fans that in the anime he came back.
so the major can rest victorius
So true. At least the bringing back in Ultimate didn't actually invalidate his victory. Fan revivals of characters have been.. less well done. (Looking at *you*, "Neo Roanoke"...)

Okay, he's cool, too.
Aside from The Major and The Captain, I hold the others in contempt. The rest were so arrogant and shallow.... But the Major was so dead set in his beliefs, evil as they may be. The Captain was just doing his duty and wanted a warriors death.
One of the only villains to actually win, untill Alucard came back that is, but still, he won. Full respect.

If you think about it, it makes sense that The Major defended his humanity, remember that it takes a human to defeat a monster, and that's exactly what happened. It wasn't Anderson after he turned into a monster, neither Walter the ones to defeat the powerful Alucard. It was the Major, who was the one that didn't reject his humanity. The complete antithesis of Alucard.
Well, it was Schrodinger . But yeah
Dude, that’s beautiful.
@@fraktalg Exactly. He may have fooled many people (including more than a few in the comments section), but in the end he was less human than even Alucard.
@@fraktalg especially since he threw a whole war knowing full well they would all die all to kill Alucard can you really say that that's humanity sure it's will but in the end he was the real monster just like Alucard.......
@@fraktalg
Well to the Major humanity isn't circumstacial or inherent but tied to your will.
And this will includes conquering pain and fear.
Alucard doesn't do that, even when he enters the battlefield.
The souls He subjugated are dying and suffering for him.
His strengh isn't something He cultivated himself by time and effort but stole from others.
And to the Major this is just cowardice and a shame to true warriors.
So in a way he still defeated the alucard He hated.
Because the new alucard doesn't have an army of souls to hide behind.
Infinitely weaker than He used to be but finally facing the World by himself

I think what speaks to his humanity the most is how he still misses, he could have easily had himself programmed to fire super accurately, he is a robot now after all, however that would simply make him less human, so he still misses all his shots, and when he does hit something, it’s even more satisfying for him and even us
He was going to die (flashback) but the Doc saved him by transforming the Major into this. The rest of the battalion are vampires, explaining why they don't age properly. This is why he didn't.
I'm not sure if he was ever human, I think he was a machine from the very beginning. You can tell in a flash back when the blood going towards him stop in a half circle around him. So ya I don't think he was ever human even back at the end of WW2.
I think the major and the other vampire nazis were going to betray hitler….they were after they're own goals..They were reject nazis..and hitler used them as sacrifices and he abandoned them…..which showed hitler betrayed his own soldiers..…so the major and the other villans in hellsing are tragic villans.
and by the way i hate hitler. But i like hellsing
Alucard Hellsing the circle is a type of demon or other thing offer to buy a human soul, alucard accept this offer and turn a monster in some flashback but major reject and still human...

A truly great villain. He must have had a messed up path. I wonder how he managed to have the Captain join him.
There were two main reasons behind millenniums attack on London, the first was to defeat alucard and second their deaths because after 50 years of being undead they were driven mad by the fact they couldn't die and in the end they got what they wanted "they all smile as they die"
Exactly, and that makes for truly terrifying villains.
"Our purpose is to have no purpose."
It's hinted through The Captain's gestures that he might have been forced to join Millenium somehow. He wears the Afrikakorps uniform, unlike everyone else in Millenium and also has an incorrectly drawn Totenkopf symbol (though the latter could just be an error). The Afrikakorps were known to be the only group that didn't commit atrocities as much as the others (this could be just coincidence, but who knows). He also has a code of chivalry, which he has shown to Integra, Heinkel and possibly even Seras (if he actually did allow her to kill him, which is what a good number of fans like to believe). Not to mention, he even smiles when he dies.
More importantly, how did he gain his position if he can't aim well xD
@@riiddisbuk2496 He is smart and amoral as hell. That combination is brutal, it allows a world of possibilities.
“A human’s soul, heart, and will, I have them. Even if he takes the form of a little girl, putting on a smile, or even if he takes the form of a war veteran, kneeling down sentimentally, he’s a monster! That’s why...I truly despise him!! I cannot stand the vampire Alucard!! He’s a monster that looks like a human, I am a human that looks like a monster. I am *me*.”
Honestly, one of the most amazing speeches I have ever heard.
He’d be the universe’s most powerful Green Lantern, given how strong his will is.
Love him or hate him, the man was right in his definition. He was a human after all
@@LoveIncest couldn’t agree more. I kinda see how we human come over of dark side of human being. In my opinion is this, we human are really the worst living we ever become. Like we did religious, racist, crime and war was rather either good or bad, it about the balance of life we taken in.
@@dakotacampbell9090 Exactly. It's for his actions and his refusal to become a parasitic being that depended on the souls of others to survive that he maintained his humanity, even if it was one most would consider 'evil'
He really lost ground when he limped Seras in with Alucard as the same.
He didn’t become a parasitic creature? Well, by that logic, neither did Anderson!
He instead became in unnaturally powerful creature that doesn’t require human sustenance to survive, and survives a point-blank shot from an 88mm cannon AND a shot to the head from a standard firearm, at least for a much longer time then in humanly possible.
You know who else can do that?
Oh yeah… the guy he hates.
I personally felt that this anime had a very powerful message.
Definetly one of the best anime.. or even productions that could rival with modern hollywood epics
Stanisław Giers well...the epics,yes.
While teenagers were arguing about what's cooler vampire or werewolves Hellsing shows us that despite all of their supernatural powers they are simply nothing compared to a human. A human who follows his own will and is strong enough to fight through life without giving up or losing hope even in the worst moments. Personally this is why I find it epic.
You're not supposed to root for this man. He killed millions of innocents and didn't even have the decency to let them rest in peace. His whole live is one single warcrime, from start to end. But I can't help myself but to see the point he makes in this speech and how true it is, how will and a cause is what makes a human. The best anime villain there is~
That's the "issue" or "problem" with the major, he is a human, as in all that encompasses being a human, he accepted both the good and bad things of being a human, cherishing those traits while hating the epitome of being non human, which would be Alucard
Very late reply but what you just said at the start, about not supposed to root for this man and that he killed million and didn't let them rest.
You can apply that to Alucard if you think about it, which is probably the beauty of it. The protagonist himself is a walking war crime.
@@cebi3939 Both are. It's just like the Major said. Alucard is a monster that looks like a human, while the Major is a human that looks like a monster
Even in real life, those we deride as inhuman monsters are, at their core, human. If we are not allowed to see them as humans, what are we supposed to depict them as? elephants?

After many years I finally get it why hes so happy he finally hit something. Hes human, through and through, just like how he says it's his ideal and his will even if hes machine or in a jar hes human. Seeing how much he comprised of machinery it hasnt perfected his sight for aiming, the glasses; perfected his physique or physical defenses, the glass protection he has when she walked in;
Hes purely made in a super faulty image still like a human and he finally hits something even after going through WWII and hes ecstatic that he was able to hit someone with gunfire before he dies
My fucking god, how did they make this guy's death sad!? Throughout this entire series I wanted him to die, but we finally get there and now I regret the whole damn thing!
When Japanese anime/game creator's logic isn't complete wtf, they can pull off pretty easily, to make the death of the biggest bastard in the series, as something emotional, and make you regret it, even though there isn't that much to regret.
Its what makes us human. Only a psycopath whit no epathy would feel good when killing some body. Sure you see walter kill a bunch of dudes he dosent feel good about it he just does what he needs to do.

The Major becomes an extra level of interesting when you compare him with Father in FMA. One clung to his humanity even though he had every opportunity to cast it aside: He could have a 'perfect' body constructed, but he stuck with all of his imperfections, all of his sins; and as such all of his accomplishments and victories were his to enjoy as a result. On the flipside you have the other that rejected everything that was human, every imperfection removed, and all of his accomplishments and victories weren't his own but through the will of all of the imperfections he removed. His imperfections lived their lives and embraced themselves and their fundamental flaw, while he himself was ultimately left with absolutely nothing.
The difference between a human and a monster is a human is responsible for their actions. A monster is not.

The thing about the millenium antagonists is that they ARE evil, but you can relate to practically all of them in some way.
Herr Doktor's constant starving for progress, The Major's determination, The Captain quite literally giving Seras a weapon to kill him with, because he saw no point in living after they had won the war, and Rip van Winkle's fear against a creature as vile and disgusting as the king of vampires himself.
just the best anime villain could die with a smile.
Regardless of what he became the major had a point being human is human no matter what you cloak it in or what you build around the brain in a jar (ironically he hit on exactly what ghost in the shell's major was)
and yet people call other humans monsters is that alucard whos a monster or we hmmm
