The God Gambi | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 2 | E23 | Hasbro Pulse
The Decepticons arrive on a planet called Titan, where Astrotrain tricks its natives into worshiping him and the other Decepticons as sky gods. When Cosmos is captured, Jazz, Perceptor, and Omega Supreme travel to Titan to rescue him. There, they must reveal the truth to the people of Titan about the Decepticons' deception.

This is probably Jazz's best episode. Most of the time, he does something cool once or twice an episode and fades into the background. Nice to see him front and center for the majority of the episode!

I think in their bios, Ironhide is Prime's bodyguard (as if he needs it) while Jazz is in charge of overall operations.
Starscream remembers this 20 years later, and when planning his coronation, forces Astrotrain to place the crown on his head.
I think astrotrain was plotting on.screamers death he was feeding screamers ego he was gonna kill.screamer but galvatron came and brat him to it
Statscream and astrotrain might have planned on disposing megatron in case he lost and take leadership for themselves

and yet in the ghost episode Starscream's ghost borrowed Astrotrain for a ride and then throw him to the autobots base... gotta say those two's conflicts are unending

Astrotrain showed out in this episode. He should have gotten more screen time in other episodes.
This is the probably the best Astrotrain where he looked strong, powerful & comical " hunk of junk" for Cosmos ( poor cosmos)
That's why I'm an Astrotrain fan even at 61. Used to watch Gen 1 with the kids, nieces and nephews. I was the only one who cheered for him.
I think he says "silence", not "God heavens"
No Megatron, no Space Bridge, hardly any Optimus, and very little of Earth. That's a risk-taking approach, to be sure. But this is one of those times where the risk paid off ... big time. The part where the inhabitants see Omega Supreme for the first time ... it's a riot. Definitely of the strongest entries in the series.
It shows there were other stories, that could be told with other Transformers and not just the main characters. Amazing writing.
My favorite episode was some really weird one where Rumble, Screamer and Thrust, I think, go to medieval times with Spike and some autobots. No Megatron or Oprimus, and it was a super fun ep still.

I remember being sad as a kid seeing the 84 toyline getting phased out of the cartoon but at the same time getting some above average episodes like this one. The plot here seems more mature in line with a Star Trek than Transformers.
Astrotrain got good character development this episode. But the MVP is Jazz this episode he the hero.
Jazz is definitely 1 of my fave Autobots
His heroic behavior is in keeping with his toy bio. He is an extremely brave autobot and he was true to his character in this episode. And thrust’s toy bio says he is not too brave…also very apparent in this episode

One of the best episodes in the entire series: Great storyline, well-articulated character building and a new approach to coloring and animation (the temple and the native “elves”). Loved it. Thanks for the upload!

Oddly enough Starscream according to Skywarp's card (they got the stats swapped by mistake) points he has a 9 in courage.
There are entire essays to be had about this episode alone. I like that Astrotrain gets a bit of spotlight; it does fit his original personality somewhat.
Astrotrain was dope in this episode. Loved how he choked Starscream too.

The character interactions in this episode make me think Astrotrain's part was originally written for Megatron, but they had a new toy to promote. Especially since no way would Starscream take that kind of treatment from anybody but Megatron.
If it was the case then perhaps this maybe the reason for that episode where the two Triple Changes try to see who is the best leader.... neither wins and an all out brawl ensues.
Especially when Astrotrain was the one placing the crown on Starscream's head in the movie. It was odd seeing this episode on how Astrotrain acted towards Starscream.

It's funny that Starscream wants to oust Megatron as leader but can't even stand up to Astrotrain.

Great showcase episode with Jazz, arguably my favorite transformer. This episode also shows he's a more powerful warrior than we give him credit for.

I've never seen this episode before -- AND IT WAS AWESOME!
This was a great showcase for both Astrotrain and Jazz, as well as dealing with some pretty heady issues regarding religion.
I just can't stress enough how great Scatman Crother's Jazz is in this episode. His delivery is hilarious, his character is almost super-heroic, and really shows why he's a fan favorite.
Bonus points for the animation not being AKOM's sh***y barely animated mess.
Cosmos need some of that good old fashioned End-To-End Encryption!

Jero got the taste of his own medicine when the Titans’ old home got destroyed by the Taboo Crystal explosion: DEATH!
This episode taught me two things as a kid. 1. There is no god. 2. If there was, he would be called...Astrotrain.
Check the Good Book. Everything from Genesis to Revelation paints a clear picture.

He will judge all of the unrepentant evildoers and the disbelievers that day and then His angels will throw the poor condemned into the lake of fire and brimstone. It is the second death. While those that have willingly accepted God=Lord Jesus Christ and His salvation towards their sins and have personally confessed their wrongdoings to Him and have repented will be spared by God=Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Those will be of His seed and of Abraham's seed and will inherit eternal life from God=Lord Jesus Christ and have fellowship with Him. It sure beats winning the lottery I assure you.
I think this episode didn't denounce the belief of God, but false gods.
Besides, have fun proving that there isn't a God.

Religions offer tribal plays and dramas through which the members can achieve selfhood and oneness as well as imparting rules, values and norms to the newest members .... In many cultures, life begins with a belief in Astrotrain style gods and devils and demons but at some point this is revealed to have been all a game and a deeper understanding of oneself and the universe they belong to is hopefully achieved, albeit through variations on the same rituals and mythologies they knew before ... but more complex....Once this has been done, one can go back to worshipping Astrotrain in the knowledge that it's all a game and that the cosmic reality is fare more beautiful and uplifting...and less scary too.
...of course, there are always those who twist the mythologies into instruments of personal power and control and we still have such people today in our times and probably always will.... Be the Astrotrain that they hail be called God, Nation, Progress, Science, Revolution, Freedom, Patriotism or whatever....those who don't buy pretend to and worship their own way in secret ... others convince themselves to believe because it fills some need they have.

One of my top 3 Transformers G1 episodes. I like epsiodes that don't revolve around Megatron or Prime; but then have great characters like Jazz, Starscream (always gold) and Astrotrain (my first Transformers toy as a child).

This is how you're supposed to show side characters some love. The Camelot episode was meh even though I like Warpath. It was good to see Jazz being something other than a distraction. Of course they would try to murder the atheist for speaking truth and the guy who almost doomed their entire civilization gets to walk off the court like he didn't do anything wrong. :
So sad that Scatman Cruthers died in 1986. I really would've loved to had Jazz during the seasons after the movie.

A very enjoyable episode that showed Starscream wasn't the only one with ambitions to become leader of the Decepticons as Astrotrain would also display desires of his own to gain power for himself. This would be further explored and addressed later on in the 'Triple Takeover' episode with Blitzwing added to the mix as all 3 Decepticons joined forces in an attempt to dethrone Megatron before they all turned on one another.
