Some character development for Slingshot. He was the most arrogant of the Aerialbots, thinking he was better than the others, offending his fellow Autobots at the beginning after he was built and nearly came to blows with Ironhide on a few occasions. Just as Sliverbolt told him at “War Dawn” that he just have to learnt things the hard way. He did learnt things the hard way but he matured as the series goes on, realizing the error of his ways and learnt to humble himself and appreciate the earth humans which led to him befriending the prince.
Too bad the prince didn't appear in Season 3. Like'd to see how much the young prince change for the last 20 years. I wonder if he has become a king, and married to his would-be queen.
Nice going Blast Off. Your optic sensors must me having the glitch of their life for not detecting the Autobot isignia despite the fact it was right IN FRONT of them.
One of a million egregious oversights in this beloved show. I guess we can chalk it all up to things like poor communications between the USA and Toei Studios (among others) in an age where Internet, cell phones, Skyping, video-chats, emails, texting, faxing and satellite transmissions were either in their infancy or just plain nonexistent. That being said, it's a wonder these episodes didn't come out even WORSE than they did. But don't get me wrong; still an amazing series all the same.
During season 3 the Aerialbots were basically the "muscle" and the combaticons are all military vehicles. So it does sort of fit. Meanwhile the stunticons were more of a stealth team.
No the purpose of stunticons is so decepticons have ground power that is fast and can chase the autobots and "dogfight" them in places like caves and underground facilities. The aerialbots were the autobots answer to air warriors attacking them in the air without them having air defense. (apart from Jetfire in the early days and powerglide who was a loner) These two teams complement the existing strengths of the autobot and decepticons. Eg autobots mostly have ground control but weak in the air. And decepticons have air superiority but slow in confined space on the ground. (having to run after a car isn't energy efficient) Since autobots are weak in the air they need Aerialbots to plug their deficiency in air warriors. Since decepticons are slow on the ground the stunticons plug their weakness of not having agile ground warriors who can fight in smaller confined spaces and on roads. Protectobots are all about healing, rescuing, and repair so they have a theme of HIGH DEFENSE. The combaticons are all about destroying things quickly because they are all about weapons and assault. HIGH OFFENSE. It matches perfectly because the autobots are tasked with stopping Megatron from harming the earthlings and stealing energy to build up a stockpile of it to rule the galaxy/universe so they don't need as much firepower. (the humans freely hand it out to the autobots so they don't need to attack anything on earth aside from decepticons.) The decepticons on the other hand are hostiles to EVERYTHING on planet earth (with a few exceptions) so they need MORE offense and more firepower than the autobots whose main objective is defense not offense. Thus the autobots have protectobots (defensive/productive) and the decepticons have combaticons (offensive/destructive). Where do constructicons fit into it all? They are something in between building (contructive) and destroying (destructive) because they don't have the best firepower but they are just big so they can crush things. (dinbots are the autobot equivalent of this with Grimlock being the anti-heavy armor warrior to deal with heavy targets) The interesting thing is the only way to build things for decepticons is if they steal all their materials from humans. Notice how autobots don't have to steal because the humans just hand it to them? That's part of the contract the government has with autobots: "you protect us from the decepticon threat, and you get your energon free." But in Transformers Prime they always had to ration energon which is very interesting. The 1980s version seemed less like a survival story. (ie energy wasn't scarce like a food shortage scenario. It was everywhere and the autobots never had shortages. In TF Prime energon is not easy to get)
@@UToobUsername01 I like your analysis. Going by the need of each faction, it makes sense. However, I still like Stunticons vs Protectobots. Think of it as law and order vs chaos and crime. Have been a big fan since Eight million stellar cycles and still love it and I am Nine Million stellar cycles old
20:44 "Looks like Team Decepticon's BLASTING OFF AGAAAAAAAIN!"
I kind of like this episode and its focus on Slingshot. The guy is the loudest braggard of the Aerialbot squad and that's clear in all of the cartoons. But you can't deny that the guy is also handling the other half of his given bio: A dutiful, loyal, hardworking soldier. No one will ever get to say he doesn't carry his weight and protect his fellow Aerialbots any way he can.
I would like to see a G1 live action movie with the Combaticons
4:57 Slingshot went into the cave nose first, but Hoist brings him out nose first. What did he do, turn him around in there?
This episode was in January 1986 as you know and it's the 3rd episode of the Combaticons and Bruticus, and this time they're working for Megatron.
The is the best Transformers of all time the first one
How come no one is interested in how the Aerialbots merged into Superion when Jamal/Hassan is inside Slingshot's cockpit?
In toy form the cockpit isn't compacted or squashed.
By some miracle Hassan was relatively safe.
GIANT PURPLE GRIFFIN
LOL did they forget to animate the Rolls Royce grill for a majority of the episode until the end? I have to go back and look at my shout factory DVD's..i thought it was on him the entire time.
I used to have this episode recorded on a VHS during Generation 2 and it had the same issue with the Rolls Royce grill. It also had the same dialogue glitch when Onslaught is shooting at Slingshot.
Feels like I’m watching gi joe and transformers
Blastoff the leader off the Combaticons
I am in my 60s and I will always love transformers long live transformers 🌍👍🌍💯🌍🥰🌍✌️🌍🌟🌍👏🌍🎈🌍🍨🍰🌍
More power to you.
Rumble become megatron 2nd hand now, he always on his side
Blast off didnt notice that autobot insignia when he opened that truck ? Ok 😆
The late Roger C Carmel as Bruticus! Love it!
He didn't get credit because this was late season 2.
51 and still watching
More power to you
The beginning interlude is all anime, never realized it as a kid
Except it's an American cartoon...
@@skyatollah2skyharder276 but the idea and concept was originally from Japan, America have them names and personalities
This episode rather suits the Combaticons. A right bunch of dirty mercenaries.
