    Thank you immensely for this. For sharing your depression as well as your philosophy. It is so hard to expose these "other" sides of us, and yet when we do, other people feel more comfortable knowing they are not the only ones.
    So thank you.

    I think the boiling frog thought experiment is quite a good simplistic one. Agreed, the frog would probably move out of the water once the temperature got to a certain point. Think about this though; (Assuming that the frog can still function up to the point where the temperature becomes too uncomfortable for him/her, but that added temperature will have an inverse effect on their ability to function) What would happen if the water temperature was raised to just below uncomfortable?

    Thanks Tim, life is a caldrum with a bublly soup inside, and there is the good stuff and the bad stuff, some are bitter like dandelion and sweet like honey, putting it together makes life, embrace good and bad, is part of living, as we still persue for happy times.

    Eating 5-10% cooked veggies like beans or squash Is good for you. Even a baked potato sometimes. Just watch the condiments. Although I prefer raw fruits and veggies I think beans are one of the best foods we can eat.

    I also struggle with depression, Tim. I've been raw 5.5 years. It's easy to stick to it because I know how horrible I was before I changed, and I don't ever want to be like that again. It took some pretty harsh depression to spur change. I was desperate. But I still struggle sometimes (like right now) - and I have PMDD which is severe PMS - it's harsh. But I relate to you. I'm not undercarbed like a lot of people might suggest. I don't lack B12 or Vit D. I know what I need. It all helps. But sometimes it's not enough. It's also in my genetics. I am nowhere NEAR how I used to be, and I am happy almost all the time - but there are times when I feel like I used to, and it's scary.

      @CristinaBuzac 11 років тому

      Hey! I used to suffer from severe PMS and a couple of months after I gave birth it got worst! I didn't think it was possible, but it happened. Until one day I discovered hemp oil and hemp seeds :) hemp (not cannabis!) contains gamma - Linoleic acid, which helps with your hormonal balance. I highly recommend you give it a try and see how your PMS will disappear :)

      I did not this year but I am getting some now - I always make sure I am getting some, especially around February is when my mood flops, but this year it happened a bit earlier as I didn't get out in the sun as much this summer. Since I have been going to get some rays at the tanning salon I have felt much better (I go really minimally, I did research and this is a much better option than supplements).

    Although I'm a fully hearted Raw Vegan by myself for nearly 6 years now I was a little bit shocked when I've seen some Vegans/Raw Vegans at a big Raw Vegan event lately.
    Most of them told me that they were not fully 100 % raw at all (so it's not easy to come to a clear conclusion) - but they reminded me much more on the Walking Dead than on pure healthiness.
    I guess I was one of the few exceptions - and I'm really raw as far I can trust in the the food I eat (for example that olive oil, that is declared as raw, is indeed really raw).
    And there were still 2 other guys that have inspired me compared to the others - one was a mostly raw vegetarian guy that looked fit and strong.
    And the other one was a raw omnivore guy, who looked really great in shape and blessed with a good sense and a strong life force.
    Wasn't really pleasant for me to watch (and smell) him eating raw deer along all the veggies there - but he looked very healthy, self-confident, happy and strong-minded compared to the others.
    In connection with the fact that some raw vegan or vegan autors (such as David Wolfe, Steven Arlin, the guy called "Daniel Vitalis", Christian Opitz, Victoria Boutenko and maybe John Robbins, too) made a step back from the raw or the vegan aspect, caused even more some wariness inside me.
    To cooked/processed food there's no way back for me - it messed my health and life totally up (always got the same bad results before I went really raw when I fell back from raw to cooked vegan food several times).
    So I lately decided to experience the raw vegetarian diet (with raw eggs) in the following year and the raw omnivore diet (will additionally include "just" fish and for for sure not the peaceful and indulgent fishes - rather the badass predacious fishes) for the year 2015.
    And then I will compare this to my current raw vegan diet - especially for the question how this will affect my body, my mind and feelings.
    If these raw diets should really make somebody happier, healthier or more active due to a possible lack of B12 or other stuff the body needs, I will find this out by myself.
    But if not I will return to my raw vegan diet and accept this as one of the best diets and lifestyles out of these I've ever experienced.

    The boiling frog metaphor makes me uneasy. I don't think of frogs that simplistic and "irrational". According to the wikipedia article it seems to be more myth than truth to it. See Wikipedia under Boiling_frog

    There is something I don't understand, I've been transitioning to raw food over the past little while, and im about 2/3rd raw, basically breakfast and lunch then for supper I eat a low-fat cooked vegan meal.
    But just recently I stared eating fully raw, and at first was having a hard time because I don't want any sweet fruit by supper so I only eat salads.
    Now, I love salad but there was something missing and I would end u binging on horrible foods until I put some avocado on my salad, then all of a sudden everything has been great 100%!
    here's where my problem comes in, im trying to loose weight, I know avocado are high fat but I feel good when I eat them, and they are the only thing that's keeping this whole raw thing to together.
    the reason I bring it up is because, I just watched durianrider's video and he says that all fats are bad and will make you fat and that we don't need them.
    will I gain weight from the AVO or should I keep eating them?

    • @runningraw
      @runningraw  11 років тому +1

      I put an avocado in every salad I eat. There is nothing wrong with avocado, and many things right with them.

    • @brcage
      @brcage 11 років тому

      Running Raw So I wont gain weigh from the fat within the avocado, or stifle my weight loss?
      Thank you for the response Tim I appreciate it, I to am on a mission! lol :)

      I eat avocado with my dinner salad and have never had an issue. I don't see why you anyone would.

    • @GaryHighFruit
      @GaryHighFruit 11 років тому

      durianrider doesn't say all fats are bad - just that too much is bad. You can eat 1 avocado a night and still be Low-fat.
      I also don't like eating a veg-only meal. There's only 1 or 200 calories to it. With all that volume, the body expects more calories.
      You may want to try raw-buckwheat, and raw red potatoes.

    • @LorraFae
      @LorraFae 11 років тому

      1 avo a day is fine, dude :) if you feel good, do it. just don't OVERdo it. And DR never said all fat is bad, just keep it minimal :) I also love avocado, I have it almost every day and I am not fat at all. I just don't eat a ton of it.
