I go through phases where I search UA-cam all night listening to these songs from the 70s and 80s. Many a time it brings a tear to my eyes. I’d give anything to go back in time…. Even for a short stay…..see my friends….my mom…. I’m getting choked up thinking about it now….
I'm glad someone else does

Good times when it was all about great music, legendary artists and awesome feelings.
It will never be the same...
FR, every time I tried to show my bf (who is now and forever will be my EX) this kind of music he would be like “I hate that kind of music” and goes back to his rap all about sex and drugs. I rlly hope I find someone who appreciates the lyrics and time of this kind of music.
@@metalhead6548 i promise you, all that love you're holding onto will lead you to the one you so richly deserve. God bless you
That’s what I keep saying. Spot on buddy. We are living the death of all feelings. Except for fear. This one still stands, and always will, I guess. It’s curious how all that fear just isn’t enough to inspire people to write beautiful songs. Or maybe not so terrible music, like what we see coming out these days.
The world will start over soon and we will have to rebuild everythn in this world u ever seen planet of the apes how thr human world ended thts how it’s going to be soon and we can get back to the old ways again
unfortunately not. We are now in idiocracy

I agree with you. I love Rod Stewart and his songs.❤️❤️❤️ For me Rod and Freddie Mercury are the best of England.
His songs get stuck in your head and emerge years later even if you haven't listened. How does that work?
One of the most emotional, touching and meaningful songs ever written :) it means so much to me :)
I think someone getting their heartbroken 💔doesn''t apply just to you 🌹but to all of us on this Earth. I don't know one person who has not ventured into 💕 love and has not had their heart broken, sometimes maybe once, maybe twice or sometimes maybe a lot.!! Rod poured out his heart and soul because he too was truly going through a horrible breakup 💔💔💔💔 during that time in his personal life 💔🌹☘️🌹 he was able to find beauty in a song that he wrote which were words about one of the worst things that can happen to someone in their life, losing a loved one because they don't love you back 💔
Danny Whitten wrote it
@@chetmeister4752 What other songs has he written, this is beautiful.
You may want to listen to the original version by Danny Whitten and Crazy Horse@@dorothykuveke1217

I discovered Rod in1975 thanks to my new friend Becky. We saw Rod this past summer (he's now in his 70s) . He had amazing energy and gave us what we came for!! Thank you Sir. You Rock.
One of my favorite covers by Rod. Love him & this song. What a great album too.
This song was written by the late Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten. Gone too soon, Danny RIP
And finished by Nils Lofgren when Danny Whitten was unable to
This song has more emotion than almost any other written. Rod's vocals and the melancholy lyrics make it feel like he's singing of real feelings or memories, it's a beautiful masterpiece and long may it be remembered.
Let’s thank Danny Whitten for writing it and Nils Lofgren for finishing it
A masterpiece written by Danny Whitten, gone far too soon. RIP.
Who is Danny Whitten? How did he die? Didn’t really know him he was a beautiful man 😢😢😭sorry for your loss 🙏
@@ShaniTrahan-xx9lc Danny Whitten was, to my mind, a brilliant guitarist/band leader who formed a group in NYC sometime in the 1960's that came into sudden prominence in the late 1960's when they became Neil Young's backing group that they named Crazy Horse. I believe their first album together was Young's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, now considered one of the greatest rock records ever made and certainly one of Neil's most popular. Crazy Horse and Neil Young have stayed together and recorded in different personnel configurations over the last 55 years give or take!
Unfortunately, Danny Whitten
had a lengthy and serious heroin addiction in the 1970's,
forcing Young to dismiss him from the band. Whitten succumbed to his addiction a short time later. Many people believe that those events had a profound effect on Neil, causing him heavy guilt, resulting in him falling into lengthy depression. The "story" of Whitten and his importance to Neil Young, as musician and human being is best expressed on Young's album, Tonight's The Night.
I wasn't related to Danny Whitten nor did I know him personally. But, you know what? I really appreciate you saying, "Sorry for your loss," because it sounds so right. I'm a longtime, enduring fan of Neil Young, Crazy Horse, and of course Danny Whitten, a loss that I did really feel. Peace to you and thanks for making me rely on my own memory to write this. I used no other source. If I got some things wrong, apologies.
PS. Pity, Stewart had to give this beautiful song a "Vegas" treatment. Go to Danny's version to get to the song's "heart".
Danny Whitten was a superbly creative human being and musician. He brought a band that was eventually named Crazy Horse to Neil Young. Mr. Whitten died of a heroin overdose early in the career of that band but Neil Young and Crazy Horse have been making epic music for over fifty years! Thank you for personalizing Danny Whitten's passing as being "your loss."
It certainly felt that way at the time it happened.
Yes most people think this is Rod's song ffs
Danny Whitten was unable to finish the song,so when Crazy Horse, which included at the time Nils Lofgren, were recording I Don’t Want To Talk About It and needing a second verse they sent Nils out of the room and told him to finish the song. Also if you listen to the Crazy Horse version you can hear Nils singing along all way through the song.

My dad just passed away and this was one of his favourite songs... So here I am playing it nonstop while trying to reminisce about the good times with him.
God bless you friend. All my love to you.
❤
I've been loving it for over 30 years, on the night I lost my whole world ....I was driving crying I across 3 states, the sun was coming up when my gas dinged. Pulled into a Mobil as I was pumping the gas this song came on, I wanted to die, at some point time stood still as this ballad came on, I blanked out, I will never forget a state trooper was holding me and stroking my hair. I figured the attendant called my plates from 3 states over made him wary. I thought I was in trouble, but the voice was soothing. A minute or 2 later she asked me if I was done, I told her yes, she said the one thing that put me on the right path: You don't ever get over it, under it, around it and you certainly will never let go of it, what you do is learn to walk with it, eventually you'll walk alone, when that day comes it means you got through it....Today she is still my best friend. When her world crumbled I was there. On July 8 2018 I lost my friend. 6 months later I received a package, inside was her badge and a note "if I'm gone before you, and you're reading this, I'm here waiting to walk with you, you'll look bat shit crazy, but keep talking. Quiet walks are underrated. "
This song makes me laucry (laugh n cry) I laugh at great memories at night I still cry,... everyday,

Still obsessed. It makes me cry each time. The song hurts.
Listening to this sad but wonderful song at 12:06 in the morning of Sept. 27, 2023. Love this song but it also made me cry a bit.
Written by Danny Whitten and finished by Nils Lofgren
As I grow older it is strange to reflect on a song that speaks to me now as it did in 1977. Then as a 15 year old working hard long hours in a chip shop and cafe and (trying) to play hard on Saturday night, hoping to get a "smoochie" to this at the end of the night at the disco after playing it on our break on the jukebox at work. Now reflecting on lovers past and lost and perhaps the right one who got away..
what a perfect description of the feeling and emotions we had at that moment!!

Rod masters this great ballad, written by Danny Whitten, of Crazy Horse, Neil Young's band. He died of an overdose shortly after this was written, A tribute to him that Rod would make this so popular. Thanks Rod for the years
I heard Rod stole the song and made a mint

The 70s were sooo special
Even as an Indie fan in the 80s & 90s I had a Rod Stewart collection. He was part of the theme tune to my childhood. One that consisted of green spaces with 'No Ball Games' signs, Weetabix, Dr Who, family parties & cars with no seatbelts. Now all these years later I feel that despite our lack of material wealth the UK produced some of the best pop singers ever. Rod is up there.

We are listening to this beautiful song in 2021
What a pretty breathtaking woman ,hello my Beauty ?
This recently became my favorite song. A while ago, I was in a deep depression, for I felt I had no direction.
After my college class, I got into my car, went to spotify, clicked this song, and started driving. Despite feeling down, I knew I did not want to come home just yet, therefore I started endlessly driving around my college neighborhood. While I sang along to the song on full volume, I remember feeling free and independent; I don't get to feel that way a lot. I felt happy, but sad that I had to return back home.
Of course, this song didn't cure my depression, but it oddly gave me hope and a sense of comfort. Lately, I've been keeping to myself, and reflecting on my past freindships and relationships, while trying to make sense of my past. It is difficult but I like to think that it's making me a better person. My mental health is declining, but it is hard getting people to listen to you and it is even harder opening up to people. This song is like a giant hug; a comforting symphony to my ears, which soothes my angst and troubles. Genuinely, this song speaks for my lowest moments, when I feel lost and empty.
I am not sure what my life will become in the years ahead, but I hope it gets better. I hope I find my path in this world.
You are not alone.
Hope your feeling better
I hope you feel better
