Another upcoming excellent group of bluegrass players. Its a shame but so many talented players like these guys go unrecognized and few go on to earn big money.
Hey man I just got me a fender deluxe and I’m having trouble getting that bright tight town do I need to just crank down that banjo head or is it something else I’m missing there a certain kind of brand of pics that are a little bit more 20 or bright I’m going for that JD crew kind of sound
Hey Wade, I agree with that last reply. It could be that your head is not tight enough. It could be that your bridge is too thick. It could be your strings. I would either go to Rob Smith with Heartland banjos close to Nashville (615) 461-7686. He set mine up and I was very happy with it. Charlie Cushman also sets up banjos and does a great job. He’s also in the Nashville area. Tim Davis also does a great job with Davis Banjos. If your not confident in your own ability to set one up, go to one of those guys. It shouldn’t cost more than a couple hundred dollars at the most.
Wiley's banjo playing is second to none, one of my absolutely favorites.
This is music...true talent

Ah set up is key. Look at Steve Huber’s set up video. You can find it on you tube I ‘m sure. Head about G#. Tail piece level or slightly up.
