Flams are one of those things I put off for a long time because they are difficult. I've realized over time, that's the stuff you need to do to get better. If something makes your hands or feet feel weird...you need to be practicing it. (Thnx for this lesson!)
Hey Dave, great to see you up, about and thriving!! I remember you fondly from the Drummerworld forum. I must have been living under a rock as I had no idea you had an instructional UA-cam channel. Only found it recently have been doing a deep dive on many of your previous vids. Absolutely fantastic content mate. I mean, I knew it would be as I remember your forum input was always completely on point. But it's been great to flick through so many of your lessons and tutorials. Found a host of useful info and even working a few of your past drills to great benefit. Well done mate. Loving the content. Excellent ideas, expression, delivery and methodology. Cheers.
Julian! how are you mate. Oh boy DW was a lifetime ago. Glad you found me again. I've also got an instagram channel and a website where the good stuff lives in courses etc! Which exercises have you been working on?
@@DaveMajor Great to hear from you Dave. Really loved your "accented triplet, triplet, double played as 16th's" exercise. As I'm not playing regularly these days, it's really helping redevelop the left hand dexterity that is easily lost with lack of regular playing. Also loved playing around with your "flow around the kit" exercises. And even your "five rudiments" vid has been a great deal of fun. Really love the fact that whilst none of these concepts are particularly new to me, you've managed to package so many tried and tested ideas up into some really fun exercises presented in a new format. I find many of your vids presented as an "old picture, in a new frame" if that makes any sense? Great stuff!! Really enjoyable mate. BTW, for reference I was Pocket Full Of Gold, on that forum. Doubt "Julian" will mean much to you, but perhaps you may remember my old forum tag.
Effectively you are playing constant 8ths on each hand so its like a sprinter working on their endurance running. Being able to play fast for a long period of time will help when you need to play fast!
Add musical dynamics too. What always blew me away with Chaffee is where he plays the impossible examples with crescendos etc. Rarely do we hear any music that exquisite.
I'm going to practice this like crazy
awesome! Let me know how you get on
TY for your Encouragement & Instructions
Inspiring Dave
APPRECIATE YOU BIG TIME 💯✨🥁

Absolutely. Embrace the hard things that push you to grow. Let me know how you get on with these
This seems effective! Never thought of that. You made it look so easy!
Very effective and a lot of practice makes it seem easy. Still isn't though!
@@DaveMajor I love this exercise. I am practising them right now. Thanks for enlightening us.

I’ve been living under a rock too long.. just beginning
Great lesson! Just wondering what's the thinking behind Flamming everything is the best way to improve speed? Cheers!

Nice video. Unrelated but, but looks like you've lost some weight man. Good for you! 🎉
Cheers man. Finally shifting the lockdown/new parent weight. 👊👊

Chaffee was on a different level!
