It is truly special when you save one of these old classics. I've been doing the same thing with old motorcycles I've found at co parts for the last 10 years. I love your videos on these oldies so keep it up and can the newer cars videos.
Randy, Auto Auction Classics, I - Like - it!!! A great learning experience for you. No computers on these cars. You have to learn Old School Diagnostics! Great videos in your future. Good Luck and God Bless +++
After driving it a while try setting it between 12 and 15°, timing to get a little bit better performance because older cars have a little bit of slop in the timing chain it'll make it run better this has been my experience
Shirt. Mike is doing an amazing job restoring the 59 Coronet. He is committed on restoring this car to its former glory. I have been follow him on his channel “weird beard” and I’m truly impressed by his auto body skill sets and how patient he is with removing all the cars trim, cutting out the rust spots removing the windshield and rear glass and treating the hidden rust with a rust stabilizer treatment. He takes the time to explain to the viewers what he is doing and why. He is very thorough in his explanation and breaks it down to the most simplest of terms. I can’t wait to see the finished Product. You know it’s going to be done right and the coronet will look great. Keep producing quality content. Great job Randy. !!
The last 2 cars I had with points got electronic modules fitted. What a difference. You made some home mechanic mistakes and learned something along the way. Love your Dad's saying it surely helps when it worked before and not after you played with it. Your lucky it wasn't a modern car where you could fry electronics.
Scott KENNETH Mason here just wanted to say I appreciate what you do I have a love for the old cars don’t have the knowledge but thanks for bringing them back because once they’re gone they’re gone looking forward to more videos like to see some things out of the 50s
Your driving the 1959 Coronet and someone pulls up in a Hellcat looking at the Coronet and you'll be sitting there grinning and thinking I rocked that kitty but you Sir, will never rock this one. I'm sure there are just a handful of 1959 Coronets in Oklahoma if not just yours left and the one you have will be the most original that was restored to perfection by Mike. The banners and shirts are incredible and the kindness and generosity of the man who made them and sent them to you knows no bounds.
@@patricksmith-mb8he Well, the hellcat ran it's course. He needs content, so all cars are expendable. Gotta keep those views coming in. This channel is a business after all.
Chrysler made electronic ignition optional in 1972 and standard in 1973. It was a simple but effective system that used a distributor almost identical to the previous breaker point distributor (unlike GM and Ford). In many instance the electronic ignition is a drop in replacement and owner of many older mopars make this simple upgrade.
Randy your great guy to do things like that i work in reasaurant for 11 years now the things i do for the homeless is overwhelming sometimes i love watching your videos when im relaxing godbless you myfriend
It's great to see the 59 Coronet 4 door being restored, All classic matter! I also have a 59 Dodge Coronet here in Western Australia, I also had a Custom Royal 4 door, as in Australia only the 4 door sedans were introduced here.
I'm so glad you finally got the Fury running again. Sometimes you just have to recheck your work. Just don't give up. The banners and shirts look great. I loved the Hot Wheels car. Keep up the good work. Take care and God Bless.
I have to 62 for galaxys I Had a 72 Flfa Romero And the 72 Chevrolet pick up which was sweet of the only trouble I notice as I had a heap throw money At them. Your channel has change from elaborate muscle cars to all cars you'll never quite throwing money at them I'm telling you from experience that he would say my money my car do what you want
It will be sad to see the Fury go, but gotta keep the content fresh. That car reminds me of my grandfather's Belvedere. It was a 6th gen (65-67). I remember we had to put leaded gas in it. This was back in the 80s when you could still find it at random gas stations.
Hey Randy, glad you figured it out and got it running again. It sounds great, best of luck with it. Kudos to the gentleman who made the banners and shirts, awesome!
GREAT BANNER! Rusty/ crusty NEW points? Ballast resistor. I'm not understanding Randy what the problem was. But I AM having problems with comprehension these days. Glad you got it figured out with help from your dad's saying...
I live in terre haute, indiana. I go to krogers every week. I have watched your videos for the last 2 years, really like the copart walk arounds except for the BMWs and Mercedes. Keep up the good work.
My wife had a 1959 Dodge Coronet when we were dating, 2 tone pink, Pinkie. Never had to worry where she was, just had to ask where Pinkie was. Enjoy you and Weide Beard’s videos on the Coronet’s rebirth.
Rand, it's called a ballast resistor, mopar people know that you need to carry an extra one due to the fact that they go bad regularly. It's supposed to get hot, but not burn wires. Look at the back. If it is burned out you should be able to tell. But the car won't start without it .
I could put one of those banners on my wheelchair and everybody they go by me could see it. Keep up the good work on the cars. I with watching highway patrol and seeing the 59 on their pretty cool.
Them banners and t shirts looks great and the 59 is coming along nicely and what great work he does. Excellent work and thanks for the content stay safe and take care
CERAMIC RESISTOR -> I'm the guy who tipped you on this, your right - it shouldn't get that hot - warm maybe BUT not "melt wire hot". Either the wrong part or defective part. In my experience there were only 2 types of resistors - 2 wire (1 on each end) for standard ignition & 4 wire (2 on each end) for electronic ignition. I do know that without that resistor working, you won't get a start.
Try running a "hot wire" from the hot terminal on the battery to the hot terminal on the coil. (you can do ths with a jumper cable). The hot wire provides a full 12 Volts to the coil. The coil voltage through the car's system is probably down to 6 or 8 volts when the starter is drawing. This leaves too little juice for ignition. If it works - you can put a switch on the dash to energize the hot wire when needed to start the car.
The dwell on my old 67 SS396 Chevelle dramatically affected the performance of the motor if it was 2 degrees off. I like the electronic system you are installing.
I got points and condenser from rock auto along with a rebuilt delco distributor to replace the large body HEI in my 55. Been running great for about a year. I have NOS delco points and condenser to replace them with should they ever fail. My point is there is nothing wrong with a points style ignition system, but you do have to learn how they work. And yes, you needed the "ballast resistor."
Those points from SMS are used and someone returned them in the original box. Nobody checked them before sending them to you. Send them back!!! Love your channel!!!
Leaving the key on overnight fried the BALLAST RESISTOR. It could also have affected the coil. Sorry to see the Fury going, but you're making some mature decisions with the vehicles. Been watching Mike's progress with the Coronet, and I can only imagine how beautiful she's going to be, once completed! 👍
Great video and shout out to weird beard, you can tell he has a passion for what he does that's why his working is so good, I'll be watching you and him like always until next time peace ✌
I thought I had a bag ignition with no spark but I was getting a little bit of spark out of my coil and I replace the coil anyway and it started right up because it wasn't pushing enough volts by the way when you next time you come through Salt Lake City go to a place called Lucky 13 the best burgers in town
In a few short years you've gone from driving for Uber, to having a C3 corvette to a C5 i belive it was to a brand new C7, a Camaro SS, a Tesla P90D, the Hellkitty and the 2 awesome classic Mopar products. In another year its gonna be an Aventador or Gallardo or maybe go old-school with a Countach. You're going places, awesome job keep up the great videos.
Randy get yourself a coil pack is the big round thing that has the wire coming out of it going to the top of the distributor cap. They have a tendency of losing voltage's when they get old. Make sure you get it from a quality person. And good luck
I don’t know if this is where to put the word (shirt) but as allways keep up your work it’s so cool to follow you And now you live in the house there is just the most right think you done so far in regards to that property Love your channel
That's how Mustie1 on UA-cam treats his cars, he sprays an Oil/Kerosine mixture on the under carriage to keep it from rusting. It serves as an under coating. He also puts it in the bottom inside of the doors to keep it from rusting. He also lives up North where they put sand and whatever on the roads in the winter.
I had added those Pertronix electronic ignition in a bunch of old VW Beetle aircooled and they work pretty good, but what really cracked me up in the instructions it says to carry a set of points and condensor with you in case it fails...hehe
As that Fury is so original to get top money I would have that detailing business you use buff and polish that paint. Its in really good condition. Oh and my OCD is kicking off Randy: Please get those leads to battery on the inner wing back in those harness clips! And whatever you choose to do with cars is up to you mate. Its your business. You still have the Jeep for private use and the pickup for the business. Just wish you so much luck!

Dude I have been telling you mopar keys always give zero volts with key in crank (that year) you have to put a relay on the starter relay to feed 12v to the ignition during crank. Or put in a 4 plug ballast resister in. The points would work fine if you add the relay.
