You have done a great deed saving this piece of history and restoring her to her original glory. This is one you can share with your family for a very long time.
Hey Randy Love how all you guys work together to get things done. Not only the lift but Weird Beard also loves the spray system he uses it regularly on his flips. Thanks Austin Carr, Weird Beard, LowLuvLife and Randy Supporting each other Credit to all of you.
Randy just letting you know I really enjoy your new format, I was a subscriber in the past and cancelled after being dissapointed in how your videos were going. Started to watch again and I subscribed. Stay with this format.
Hi Randy sir I'm so glad that you are keeping the Dodge Coronet all original, and that original 326 V8 engine because, yes it wants to live ! So Just have the 326 V8 engine rebuilt ! Because no manufacturers builds engines as strong as they use to be !
Weird Beard is a straight up guy! Very rare these days. I'm Sooooooooooo Happy to hear you're keeping the original engine in the Dodge! Best news this week! Great Vlog as usual Randy. Keep up the good work.
That frame looks really solid on that Coronet. I'm glad your fixing it up and keeping the original drivetrain in it. We have It's cousin a 59 DeSoto Firesweep Sportsman 2dr with original paint.
Originally the left handed threads on the left side, theory has it at the time, that inertia and centrifugal forces would keep the left side rotating masses fasteners tight as the car rolled fwd. That practice was finally outdated by 1971 or so on most if not all Chrysler products.. FYI
Love the new intro! Wow Randy the brake work on the coronet looked like a bear to do! But great job fixing it! The Taurus looks great! She stops great! New paint will look awesome! And thanks to weird beard and low love life for helping you!!
1. You must be planning a lift(s) or else you would have purchased an oil catch container that's 5+ feet tall. 2. Yes, goggles are essential. I had a metal splinter get impaled into my eye 40 years ago when I failed to understand the necessity of good goggles. Even today, there is a small rusty bump, luckily away from the lens, where the shrapnel landed. It hurt like hell for weeks before it finally encysted over. 3. Latex or non-allergenic type gloves for dirty, greasy jobs and split leather gloves, at the very least, if you are working with sharp surfaces. 4. Old brake shoes and clutches may contain asbestosis. Mesothelioma isn't the sort of breathtaking automotive repairs you want to do and you'll have better protection against COVID-19 wearing a mask. 5. Make your Coronet a memorable one of a kind -- install the tall rear spoiler from a 1969-70 era Dodge Daytona. 6. Other than using oil dry as needed, forget keeping your garage floor clean unless you want to pay really good money for a high-end sealer that will really bust your ass when you slip on it.
I love that taurus wagon. I'll have to see if it for sale yet..I appreciate you keeping the old girl stock! So many hot rod those things. Some days you just have to go back to basics! You don't have see an all original car at car shows anymore! Your the man!
Hey just thinking you might want to put some of that waterproof stuff they put in restrooms around the perimeter of your shop, so when you wash cars it doesn’t get the insulation wet and start mildew. It comes in 4x8 sheets and you could just run it 4ft high. Just a thought.
You need to put a sealer on your new floor so you don't stain it all up and a floor that has sealer on it looks better longer and its easyer to clean when you are done working on what ever you may be working on
Yes! A lot of cars, back in those days had left/ right hand thread fir the lug nuts for safety. If the lugs nuts were loose, they'd never self- spin off... Try this: with the car, '59 Dodge driver's side wheels off the ground, with the lug nut loose, hold the lug nut and rotate the wheel in the direction it would normally rotate while driving. It will tighten.
Thumbs up!👍... I really enjoy these videos on the ‘59 Dodge and it’s great that you’re restoring the old girl. And it has the rare option of factory A/C.. I don’t recall that being mentioned on the previous videos, It sure would be interesting to see the A/C restored and working ! Thanks
You show Weird Beard a lot of love. Nice to see people respect each other especially when it comes to business. I think it’s only right though he offers your lift back to you if he is not using it or haven’t installed it yet. I think it’s only fair. That’s what I would do if some one gave me something due to unfortunate circumstances especially if I have not been making use of it. You have a place for it now and it just seems like the right thing to do. Any how....Congrats on everything and I’m sure it will work out for you as it always has
Hey man .. I love your content ... and the most important I love the way you express your self .. ... God bless you my friend ... and please always use safety equipment .... keep it up with the good work... and never change ... we all love you ...
Hi Randy, I would like you to know you have bless me with all of your videos. You have come a long way. I love the Taurus station wagon it came out looking great. Much love to you and the family, keep up the great work you're doing my friend.
As always, killed it with the Vlog! You're a hell of a good dude, Randy. You've got great friends too! Keep it up, and I hope I can make it to your members livestream!
This is beautiful I am so happy that your gonna get her fixed and body work and painted love love love it can't wait to see her finished and the process leading up to it all the love and support coming from me here in Jamaica🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲keep the content coming Uncle Randy!!!!😎
I've driven many cars with all wheel drum brakes (driving since 1975), and I would say almost all of them worked very well, if not great- except if they got too wet, like after going through a big puddle. A dual reservoir M/C swap should be on your to-do list though.
I learned the hard way on my 64 Belvedere about the left handed threads. Got new studs and changed them to normal. Made life easier. House and shop are looking good, love the Taurus wagon, if I could, would buy it. Also loving the rocking chairs. enjoying the videos and yes, the vlog is good but, still enjoy the walk arounds at CoPart. Keep up the good work Randy! 💯👏👏👏👏💪
Randy, good call on keeping the original motor and transmission. The "one year only" for that motor makes that car special. It's gonna be awesome when it's done.
Glad to learn that you have decided to keep the Dodge as original. I knew that you would never be satisfied with it until it was shiny again. After done, it will be a solid keeper.
Recommend using protective eyewear when using a metal grinder. I almost lost my eyesight to a piece of hot metal that landed next to my pupil, and I was standing two metres away from the person doing metal grinding.
Look into a low lift system like Goonzquad has. Gets most everything they have up in the air for easy working [ well, not the Army truck, but you can walk under that ].
Put nut on axle with castle down and screw on nut until it's flush with end of axle . Then use puller to loosen drum . This is so you do not mushroom axle or wear drum or both ! Please wear safety glasses !
As you started to grind on that brake hose, I thought with your luck, we were headed to the hospital. Please Randy, wear safety glasses or a shield (or both.)
Hey if been following you since you were Uberman and you sure have come along way and I've watch the the work you have put in to get to where you are my hats off to you I will always be watching and liking keep up the great work
The wrenches you use on the brake lines are 'flare nut' wrenches. Crows foot wrenches mount 90 degrees off the wrench handle, there are flare nut versions of those too.
Since they're relatively cheap, I say hit up Walmart or wherever and get some hanging shop lights.. bout 30 bucks for the light fixture itself and some bulbs, and you can put a few on the walls like they do in detail shops that way you have light all around.. you can also link the lights together or keep them individually controlled.. i know the Walmart ones I have in my 2.5 car garage are set up so you can hard wire them or just plug them in..
@17:30 you dont wnt to be torquing down those center nut, there should be just a little bit of play, also it is supposed to be kept from turning by a split pin . What did you think the slots were for in the nut...cooling?
#derp They ARE supposed to be torqued down, and I did reinstall the cotter pin. Next time make sure you know what you're talking about before commenting.
Oh one more thing, I saw an old Highway Patrol (Broderick Crawford) TV show with him in a 58 Coronet 2 door patrol car, it looked close to your 59............I thought of you instantly!
You need to get a bench or Two tho roll around tables to keep parts and tool organized . You probably all ready got a long list of tools and items to make work go faster . I had a shelving unit put in get metal the wood once after several years tend to fall apart and they can make your shop smaller . I got lots to due in my own Garage to make space just to work on a Vechicle .
safety glasses with that grinder ..please
Read my mind. LOL
I was like... "Dude! You should think about maybe putting on some safety glasses!"
Right? Obviously, he has never had a piece of metal rusting in his eyeball yet. He'll learn quick after that! Smh
Who cares
I cringed when I saw you grinding with no eye protection, and the direction of the sparks. I do give you credit for steady hands.
Your putting so much into the 59 it’s got to be a keeper you enjoy it too much.
We do
And thank you randy

Randy, you need to wear goggles

My '07 John Deere X300 rear lawn bagger seals keep coming off.
Hi Howard. You might try 3-M weatherstrip adhesive. Clean throughly with alcohol or brake cleaner before applying adhesive.
