    The fearless captain and crew off to foreign shores! Splendid adventure, loved every minute of it. Must be fantastic ticking that off the list, looking forward to seeing what the intrepid crew of the Tyger get up to next. “Back to the Barky!!!

      @Simon Burkey Yes! Was fantastic. When I drove the car boat and trailer into the drive entrance I thought wow, been to France and back under our own steam without any help from any grown ups. Splendid adventure indeed! Thanks again for another awesome comment 🙂👍🏻

    Someone commented on here the other day I forgot to reply, now it seems to be removed but they asked how much motoring we did and Qty of fuel we used. On the way over it took 16hrs, 10 of these were motor sailing. Could've sailed the whole way but wanted to get in in the daylight. Return trip 14hrs only motor sailed for 3 or 4 hrs as the wind was stronger. Again could have sailed the whole way but it was forecast to increase to f6 which it did as you see in the video. As for fuel consumption not sure maybe did a 20l tank? I think I got 70 miles to a 12l tank on the broads but not sure maybe it was 12l plus 1 gallon can? Anyway it's prob 1-1.5 litres/hr at 5kts? It's a Yamaha 6hp 4 stroke Hope this helps.

    Great to see a seal 22 take on the channel! Well done. It's also on my bucket list. My seal 22 is based in Northern France. I'm thinking Etaples to Eastbourne, so a much shorter passage. Probably won't be as much fun as yours :)

      Thank you! Yes that would be a more suitable crossing for the Seal I reckon. Ours was a bloody long one. You should have prevailing wind on the beam too? Wouldn't be much fun if it was forward of the beam so book fair weather! Good luck let me know how you get on :)

    Well, off to another country! Really enjoyed that vid, just the right balance of on land and sailing. Not sure about that French music, sounded like they can't play a note, lol. Hats off to the crew.

      Cheers man. Yep the crew are fearless and robust hero's all. We were so lucky that festival was on, was a great atmosphere and loads of happy French people about who spoke to us. Good times.

      A small crew we are who are into this sort of boating so I'll never have that many, but with comments such as yours evidently I do have the quality of subscribers if not the quantity! Thank you.

      If you do similar in yours make sure the wind is on the beam or abaft it and less than a force 5 else you'll be regretting it I reckon! They are pretty seaworthy boats and we barely even got splashed but did get lucky with the weather. Folkestone to Boulogne would be an easier quicker one for a Kentish I reckon 😜

    I enjoyed your video. What is the white barrel looking thing hanging from the mast?

      Radar reflector

    • @backtothebarky
      @backtothebarky  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, you usually see this type mounted on a bracket on the mast but it can be rigged like this hoisted on a halyard. I reckon these have to be better than the basic simple temporary diamond shaped pieces of tin ones you usually see hoised up, but who knows. This particular one is approved by the UK MOD so that gives some hope! Thanks for watching.
